Hearing we have bid 60 mill for alisson think karius is going to be leaving the club after saturday still prefer him over mings and would like to see him stay and fight but think there is more to it than just the errors any one else heared these or is it simply click bait my mates reading?

1.) 29 May 2018 11:19:17
If Karius gets sold I will be sick for the boy. What happened to YNWA? Klopp is loyal and won't sell him. All the papers are saying that we're going for Alisson but the eds are saying it's very very unlikely to happen so we will have to wait and see how've that turns out.

{Ed001's Note - when was the last time we signed a player I was desperate for us to sign? Sadly.}

2.) 29 May 2018 11:39:17
I remember an Ed said that Fabinho was a fav of him, last summer.

3.) 29 May 2018 11:43:22
If Karius leaves I would like to hope it’s not just a knee jerk reaction to his poor display the other night, he’s been pretty decent since coming in full time.

4.) 29 May 2018 11:53:38
Ed I think it's fair to say this transfer window won't be like any other we've seen, so hopefully we can break your curse.

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed.}

5.) 29 May 2018 11:49:59
I know what you mean Ed1 mate it's the same with me, every time I get excited about a player it never comes off. So now I just pay no attention to what is said until it's done, unless of course one of you Eds were to say a deal is close with X player, then it's time to get a chufty.

If we get one of Fekir or Alisson then I'm happy, if we get both I'll be gobsmacked. Personal choice it'd be Alisson before Fekir for me.

6.) 29 May 2018 11:55:49
I hope is Karius leaves, it's because Karius wants to leave because I'd hate to see him kicked out.

7.) 29 May 2018 12:04:03
Keepers make mistakes and lose there positions unfortunately, and sadly for karius he dropped 2 big clangers in the biggest game of his life (and his teammates) .

He has to go.

8.) 29 May 2018 12:30:00
The problem is as a keeper its virtually impossible to regain the fans after such an event. Strikers can bang a hattrick in the first game after missing a game changing "sitter" or a midfielder can play out of his skin and take a vital game by the scruff of its neck in a cup game and the fans are all of a sudden back on side. a keeper would have to keep half a seasons worth of clean sheets and saved a penalty every game to get the fans back . hardest position in the world, I feel for him. but equally think he has to renounce his No.1 shirt to a new keeper, if he's got anything about him hell stay and fight/ learn with whoever comes in.

9.) 29 May 2018 12:37:25
Personally I still think Karius has potential, I'd bring in a new #1 and try to persuade him to stay as #2. He's very young and a year or two with us to build him back up could be good for both parties.

Either way, he's been pretty solid all year bar the final, and helped get us where we are.

10.) 29 May 2018 12:44:22
Maybe the solution for Karius is to go on loan to a Bundisliga club. That way he can get game time to build up his confidence in his home country and avoid the inevitable barrage of abuse from opposing fans over here.

11.) 29 May 2018 12:45:15
Perhaps this will be your lucky window ed and Fekir and Alisson will sign. I think you're overdue one of those windows tbh.

Although we got Firmino a couple of years back so that may well have been your lucky window;)

{Ed001's Note - fair point, that was probably all my luck used up. Though I had thought all my bad luck was used up when I got unlucky enough to meet Ed0333, judging by the weekend I still seem to have plenty left to spare.}

12.) 29 May 2018 12:53:21
I don't believe karius has to go at all. I am more than happy to see him as our keeper next season. He has been pretty good since he took the top spot from mingolet. I absolutely don't think we need to discard him after one bad game. All keeper's have bad game's at some point. I think our support is warranted for another season at least.

13.) 29 May 2018 13:21:48
The thing with Karius is he looks like and is a mistake waiting to happen. If you look at him from his Mainz days, you can see there is a fundamental flaw. Diving on a ball he can just pick up, punching when he should be catching, trying to come for a ball that he should never attempt to come for.
I watched a few of his performances back then and I was really worried when Klopp signed him. However trusted that I might have got it wrong. Every other top team in England has a steady eddy keeper, the worst is cech. We need an upgrade.

14.) 29 May 2018 13:24:14
Sometimes we have to take our rose tinted glasses off. although karius has done better since coming back there has still been a lot of near misses from him that he's been lucky to get away with.

All the top teams have "world class" keepers and karius is not at that level.

15.) 29 May 2018 13:37:46
Brisbane I feel for Karius I really do. The goalkeeper is the most important position for me. If there is any chance of getting Alisson we've got to go for it. I wouldn't bin Karius but he'd definitely be relegated to No.2 . Both mistakes on Saturday we're unacceptable for me 1. He's got to look for the easiest ball to play and in my view that was Robertson he chose to play a riskier option. 2. No top level keeper should be beaten from that distance. 3.He made at least 1 error in both legs against Roma . These are the 3 biggest matches he'd played in his life and he showed, for me in my opinion that he's not got the concentration to be a world class keeper. I don't blame him for losing by the way all my vitriol is saved up for Ramos.

16.) 29 May 2018 13:44:27
Based on what I have read and seen of Klopp in the last 2.5 years, I would tend towards him backing and keeping Karius. Klopp simply does not seem to be the knee-jerk reaction type of guy (the Caulker loan, aside) . However, he's not a one-man show when it comes to decisions. There are people above him and below him that will have an opinion that he may or may not listen to. If Karius does leave, then I think it will be more his own decision than anything else. It's been a few days now. And still very little show of support from his team mates, from the moment the game ended until now. Far more support from non-LFC sources. Why stick around in such an environment?

17.) 29 May 2018 14:08:54
I think sometimes you need to be ruthless in terms of decision making. Whilst I feel bad for Karius, this isn't the first error he has made and we need to be able to rely on our keeper going forward.

He was lucky that the Kolarov shot never went in against Roma and has made a few errors in the league, I think we were relieved that we got rid of Mignolet after 4 years, but is Karius much of an upgrade? Unfortunately not.

We need to go all out for Alisson.

18.) 29 May 2018 14:27:26
Eds I have absolutely no clue really how to judge a keeper other than i notice when they're doing stuff badly. Everyone, including yourselves, seems to rave about allison being almost up there with david de gea though so i was wondering what makes hime so good? i've only seen a couple of youtube clips and one thing i noticed was that he seems to palm quite a lot of shots into the middle of the area?

{Ed001's Note - positioning, agility, speed of coming off his line, dealing with crosses etc. All keepers palm the ball back out these days for some reason.}

19.) 29 May 2018 14:29:16
Honestly I really like Karius, he has the worst luck as that will probably be the worst match he ever plays and happens to be a CL final.

Think he has potential though and i thought he was good in the prem, It hurt yes but we move on and YNWA.

If he leaves I hope its down to his own personal decision and not the club kicking him out that would be horrible.

If he stays ill be happy and has my full support, would love for him to prove all the people talking sh*t about him wrong. If he leaves i still hope he has a good career and proves people that he can be a top class Goalie!

20.) 29 May 2018 14:35:14
cheers!

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

21.) 29 May 2018 14:50:19
Fans talk like this was a one off with Karius. He's had about a dozen games like this. He was out the team for a year because he kept making blunders. It wouldn't be a knee-jerk reaction just the final straw. He's had half a good season but made more mistakes than I would like. Yes he's young but I don't see a GK that will save you games when I see Karius. It has to effect the defence too when they're unsure which Karius is behind them.

22.) 29 May 2018 15:01:43
Another quick point on the importance of the goalkeeper. Our last 2 European Cup triumphs were won by our keepers Dudek's double save and Grobellar's antics on the goal-line during the shootout. Both men showed bottle composure and concentration huge attributes for a keeper at the time it was needed most.

23.) 29 May 2018 15:19:00
Get Allison keep Karius and Ward Migs and Bogdan to go.

24.) 29 May 2018 15:35:58
And dudek was terrible 😁 but yeah I think if we are to go for a keeper a loan move would probably be the best shout for Karius. He will be massively under the spotlight with us if and until he has established himself as a consistent top quality international keeper. He is very young and does have potential but at the same time does not seem ready mentality as much as anything. His reaction to this is massive. It will either break him or make him. Learn from his mistakes.

25.) 29 May 2018 15:37:55
We need to strengthen the squad elsewhere, our game plan should not change because of one player goes off like Salah. Instead of working out the 70m on Allison, I would prefer we go sign some players to add some depth. Karius made some amazing saves along with two amazing errors. He is 24, Allison is 25 and will be turning 26 this year. Let Karius have one more year and see how he develops. Mistakes are good learning opportunities let's see how Karius progresses.

26.) 29 May 2018 15:39:04
In reply to OP. No bid for him has been made.

27.) 29 May 2018 15:53:56
After Karius came back in our defence improved but that has to be weighed up by the VVD effect. Yes I think Karius is better than Migs, but he’s error prone and when your fighting for trophies and titles you need a keeper that can win you points/ games not cost you them. How many points has De Gea won for Utd.
I’d like us to sign a keeper who gives me confidence rather than give me a heart attack every time he comes for a cross or something. Yes they will cost a lot of money, but money well spent IMO. Karius or Ward as #2.

28.) 29 May 2018 16:26:52
because of the swerve and movement of the new ball most keepers are now taught if you can't get your body behind it then parry. karius would have parried that shot had his confidence knocked. you could see him in two minds. im not sure what achterburg is upto but he was awful at tranmere.

29.) 29 May 2018 17:00:49
I don't slate players but for me Karuis should go. Not because of one terrible performance but for me i have never seen evidence he is good enough. That would be fine but with exception of the final he doesn't seem to care enough about the mistakes he makes. YNWA is great but shouldn't be a hindrance.

30.) 29 May 2018 20:57:55
Lerchy, whilst I’m personally of the opinion that no keeper has significantly improved under Achterberg’s watch (unlike De Gea wih United for example) and that keeper coaching role should be under the spotlight, the performance of a coach in their playing days is insignificant surely? - Look at Klopp, average/ poor player by his own account and now arguably the best coach in the world. I know Klopp seems to like and trust Big John but his coaching credentials have to be re-evaluated sooner or later surely?

What happened to this GK director (? ) we brought in Eds, I know it was said that Big John was still running the show, but does this new guy actually have much input in the first team keepers? Cheers.

31.) 29 May 2018 23:07:51
while I wouldn't want any other manager at Liverpool right now, as we are on an amazing journey,
Klopp needs a 2nd man with him who is not a yes man,
the way Klopp messes up with his subs is very poor most of the time,
maybe he is still learning, but we could have won at least another 4 or 5 games, had he made the right subs, the Chelsea game springs to mind,
but, like I said, its Klopp who is the man taking us on this amazing journey,
may it continue .

32.) 30 May 2018 17:03:14
I don't think anyone is surprised it happened just surprised it manifested itself in the CL final.

What we need costs mega a good keeper has 15-18 clean sheets a season Karius had 10, our GF with Mo and Co covered a big problem Liverpool shouldn't need to score over 2 goals every game which was the case in far to many games last season.

An investment of £75-£80 for a keeper is a big hunk of change or is it, we are Liverpool on the lookout for a keeper so you're getting your pants taken down, it is what it is, add in the age of the keeper and the reluctance of his club to sell, our competitors would / will pay it if needed.

If it works out that the backbone and stability of our defence which gets VVD Robbo TAA and Dejan all singing from the same hymn sheet costs Liverpool £15/ 17 million a year virtually guaranteeing CL football every season the investment of £80 million in a first class keeper shouldn't be a problem it's a necessity.

1.) 08 Jun 2018 15:37:52
We need some sort of petition, and need the vast majority of fans in the country to sign it, Regardless of what club they support.
It’s turning into exploitation these days, the sooner everyone takes a stand against the greed the better.

2.) 08 Jun 2018 15:44:19
When they first gave part of the Sky package to Setanta they said it was good for the consumer as it gave them more choice. No it didn’t! All it did was make them pay more. Now this Amazon thing is a joke. I wasn’t to watch footy on my telly, not on my laptop or phone. I don’t want to have to connect it my phone to stream it to the telly. I just want to sit down, seitch the telly on and watch the match.

The Premier League are a disgrace. No wonder Scudamore is doing a runner.

To make matters worse, when I checked my statement this month I was charged £7.99 for Amazon Prime Time and I haven’t even asked to join. It’s s nightmare trying to get in touch with them to cancel and ask for my money back.

{Ed002's Note - You need to stop whining about a couple of games a season. If you haven’t asked to join Amazon Prime then take it up with them rather than trolling this page.}

3.) 08 Jun 2018 15:52:13
Why pay £70 a month when you can stream?

4.) 08 Jun 2018 15:54:09
I’ve been a prime member for over ten years. Do I get the games or is it extra?

5.) 08 Jun 2018 15:54:24
redmersey, FYI if you have a smart TV then Amazon Prime Video is an app same as, for example, Netflix. Me and Mrs Zed share an Amazon Prime membership (purely from the PoV of getting loads of stuff from Amazon and returning it etc) which now costs £79 for an annual membership. The Football (for now) will be added to this for free, so any Amazon Prime members won't pay any more (I stress, for now, who knows what their future plan is) .

So, if you already have Amazon Prime, you pay nothing more and can watch it on yoru TV directly (if you have a smart TV which *most* people will do) .

If you're an Amazon user who doesn't have Prime, it may be worth it anyway for you as it covers unlimited next day delivery or even same day delivery.

From memory, Amazon Prime BEFORE they had the VoD service was around £49, so getting the TV channels on top is £30 per annum, £2.50 per month.

Just wanted to clarify.

6.) 08 Jun 2018 15:54:40
P. S. I DO NOT work for Amazon, lol!

7.) 08 Jun 2018 16:16:36
Its a bit ironic complaining about the cost of football on TV. I don't remember anyone complaining about all the extra funds we were going to be getting for transfers at the time.

8.) 08 Jun 2018 16:26:19
If you have a PlayStation, it has the Amazon App under the TV tab, you can therefore watch the matches on your t. v. That was how I watched the final which was streamed on YouTube.

9.) 08 Jun 2018 16:38:22
I think the most annoying thing here is that the breaking of Sky's monopoly to give us all more choice has ended up costing everyone more money - I think we have the government to thank for that from a few years ago now. They think it's doing us a favour but it wasn't really. And I know the extra TV money helps buy players but you do wonder if the player prices would be so insane if there was less of that money available.

10.) 08 Jun 2018 16:36:54
Nafe, to be fair, there is an argument to say that the extra cost has driven up the extra revenue received by EPL clubs and therefore, ultimately, the extra earnings of players and the vastly ballooning transfer fees.

This is probably terribly simplistic (Ed002, on standby! ), but if we wound the clocks back 20 years, we would still have excellent players playing the game, with wages around £10-£20k per week (still not a bad wage, lol) and transfer fees around £15-£20m at the top end.

We (the club) only need the extra money now because players cost more because teams have extra money - a circular argument!

A genuine question to the Eds, if I may. I'm sure its terribly more convoluted than this, but has the extra money being pumped into (specifically) the EPL essentially ended up in the players pockets? The clubs may get higher transfer fees, but they have to pay higher fees too. So the players (and their agents) appear to the ones who have benefited from much more money in the game?

{Ed002's Note - No, the money has not gone to the players. Clubs are constrained by FFP on wages as well as transfers in order to curtail runaway wages. Two EPL sides were picked up in January and had to agree corrective action as they had broken the FFP rules on wages. The additional funds have gone in to buying more expensive players, improving grounds, clearing debt etc..}

11.) 08 Jun 2018 19:02:23
@ zeddicus. No doubt the extra money has had an impact on transfers at least in someway. However, my point was more to do with the fact that people were more than happy to celebrate all the extra money the Premier League was recieving believing it would not have a knock on effect. People celebrate companies paying hundreds of millions in tv rights and then complain whem they have to pay those same companies to watch there service. You can't have it both ways hence the irony.

11 May 2018 12:10:48
Quick question eds i read a post off 002 about sponsership and nb shirts agreement e. t. c being below what we should be getting if we land top 4 again this seaso and we have done amazing in CL and could win it. Is it possible to re negotiate any of the deals as we should be more desirable for sponsor deals? And could potentially get more money for the club.

berg469

{Ed002's Note - There won’t be renogiation of the existing deals, but there may be new deals.}

03 Feb 2018 12:39:53
A daft question probably but why do clubs sign players on for x amout of years surely you should sing a player to let's say 35 or a retirement age suited to the position it would make players consider a move more serious.

berg469

1.) 03 Feb 2018 13:12:02
What if they turn out pony and the club want rid? What if clubs change manager and he doesn’t fancy him? Quite a lot to payout to get shot of him then isn’t it.

2.) 03 Feb 2018 13:49:46
That just sounds like slavery with extra steps.

3.) 03 Feb 2018 15:01:11
It's for club protection. Imagine if we still had another 4 or 5 years on studge. We could neve4 sell him.

But we also could of signed cou to an 8 year deal, and just never really had to sell him.

4.) 03 Feb 2018 15:37:13
Nice Rick and Morty quote Adam!

Question to the eds, is there actually a limit on the length of contract that can be offered to a player? Football manager tells me its 5 years, but I'm sure there's been examples of longer contacts signed.

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - 5 years is the maximum, but they often include an option for an extra year which make it a 6.}

5.) 03 Feb 2018 15:55:09
Glad someone noticed Rugby Parker 😂.

6.) 03 Feb 2018 16:00:20

07 Aug 2017 14:30:10
Lad in work has told me couts has handed in a transfer request any truth or is this media bs?

berg469

{Ed002's Note - It is from social media.}

04 Aug 2017 12:14:42
With sturridge showing he is as injury prone as ever will klopp be eyeing another striker? He is the best striker in the league on his day but so unreliable.

berg469

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has no shortage of forwards. Firmino plays that role - Origi and Ings are there and Solanke has already been added.}

1.) 04 Aug 2017 14:47:53
Berg, I don't think that Klopp will sign another striker, tho, I am not 100 per cent happy at the moment with what we have, as Ings is nowhere ready, Solanke needs a season breaking thru, Sturridge will miss half the season, and Origi also needs another season .

2.) 04 Aug 2017 16:04:46
I believe we have enough strikers. This is the season when Origi and others need to step up and prove their worth. How long do you hold them back and stop them from trying to realise their potential?

Phil one of the eds gave an insightfull post a while ago about what additional costs are involved in transfers and it makes net spend irrelevant as non of these factors are taken into account only sell for x buy for y if you can search for the post it's an interesting read.

Danger of not letting sturridge go for cheap is if we are stuck with him and have to pay his wages i have always wondered if i was sick half as much as sturridge i would get the sack this seems to not happen in football they seem to get paid to the end of their contract or a pay off to leave surely if you can't do your job you get yhe sack.
