Hi can anyone tell me now that the carvalho deal has fallen through why we don't go back in for him in the summer when he is a free agent? Why don't we want to go to a tribunal?
Thanks guys 👍🏼.

dickiedidoh

1.) 31 Jan 2022 23:43:34
Think it's because they'll be a lot more teams in for him mate. And how much is the fee going to be to Fulham then.
Either way I hope we get the lad now, if we don't go back in for him it will be shocking by liverpool.

2.) 31 Jan 2022 23:45:09
We'll probably do exactly that, but we can't legally talk to him about it until the summer.

3.) 01 Feb 2022 04:43:06
Paul Joyce and Neil Jones both reporting that a pre-agreement can be reached if all parties agree. I suppose the difference is foreign clubs don't need Fulham's agreement. It's in their interest that he stays in the country otherwise they will get next to nothing for him.

4.) 01 Feb 2022 09:02:18
Disappointing…. But if the lad really wants to play for Liverpool he’ll sign a pre-contract when possible.
If he wants to wait and see what other offers he gets, I’d walk away .
We got the main man anyway …. So a great Window for us.

5.) 01 Feb 2022 05:58:31
So from what I can understand, this is no longer in Fulham's hands if no pre-agreement can be reached. They've shot themselves in the foot.

It is basically in Fabio's hands now. If he wants to come to us, we have a deal, otherwise he is free to choose to go elsewhere and Fulham will get a lot less (not his problem) .

The only advantage for us now seems to be that he was interested in joining us. But if that were the case, we could have waited till July in any case.

We'll see if he wants to come to us when every club in Europe is beating down his door and offering a nice package.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool cannot have a pre-agreement and have no "deal". Other clubs will continue to seek a pre-agreement.}

6.) 01 Feb 2022 10:55:51
With Nico going on loan to Fulham do not be surprised if this is part of a private "arrangement" to get first option on him in the summer. Fulham may get promoted and be in a position to want to buy. This could suit both parties.

7.) 01 Feb 2022 11:46:45
I think we’ll make a deal on the opening day of the summer transfer window before the contract expires on the same terms as previously agreed.

8.) 01 Feb 2022 11:49:35
He'll be a Liverpool player come the summer its what all parties want.

9.) 01 Feb 2022 12:15:10
Exactly Jadon. I’m confident on this. Hopefully we’ve repaired the damage done previously with these negotiations. The summer transfer window opens second week of June, Carvalho’s contract expires at the end, so let’s just present the same offer straight away and get it done. (Without wishing to sound like the blonde Tory plank Boris Johnson) . By all accounts the lad has set himself on this so it’s more likely than not.

10.) 01 Feb 2022 15:55:33
According to extremely reputable sources, the deal fell through because the EFL doesn't allow "deal sheets" (his loan back for the rest of the season to Fulham) . He had a medical yesterday with an eye to the deal going through late but all parties missed the boat as the additional paperwork was required. it is understood that the deal WILL go through finally in summer. the lad wants it, terms are agreed, his agent wants it and Fulham want it.

11.) 01 Feb 2022 18:09:51
Hey Ed02 - thanks for the update.

Is it only In this country where you are unable to agree a deal with another club for a future transfer? I seem to remember Bayern for example agreeing a deal in February to buy Upamencano in that coming summer.

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - No it is to do with dealing directly with a player and his agent when they are becoming free agents - clubs can agree future transfers. So, for example, Liverpool can agree a future move for any player, out of contract or not, with Fulham, but cannot approach any to be out of contract player directly about a transfer until the end of the season, May. But non-English and Welsh sides can approach the player directly from January - equally, that applies across Europe.}

Not posted for ages but follow site daily. Been told from source close to home Harry Wilson been promised game time next year. Lallana wants to move and Klopp sees him as his replacement. This is only if Liverpool don't receive a silly offer from derby. If this is the case Harry has been told it will be considered but needs to be upwards of £20m. He would love to stay and feels he can cut it at top level but would sign for Derby if it meant more game time.

dickiedidoh

1.) 21 May 2019 22:27:26
I mean Lallana barely played so if he's replacing Lallana I'm not sure how we can guarantee game time.

2.) 21 May 2019 22:39:47
Would love to see him get a chance in an lfc shirt. But I reckon there’ll be those that bid enough to make us think about selling. Thanks for rumour either way guess time will tell 🙂.

3.) 21 May 2019 22:43:53
Eds do you know if Lallana will move on?

{Ed001's Note - he would like to go back down south, so it is very possible.}

4.) 21 May 2019 23:04:03
Klopp still promising game time 😄.

5.) 21 May 2019 23:23:11
I think we need to let Lallana leave, for the amount of playing time he has against what his salary is it is best for all parties that he goes to southampton.

I am still under the impression that he will get given pre-season to prove himself. i know the ed's have said his issue is that he doesn't work had enough, but surely that is something that can be taught!

6.) 21 May 2019 23:24:26
If we lose Sturridge and Lallana, I know they probably had 500 mins between them, they can be replaced with Wilson and another. We need options and the main reason these two didn’t get more mins is because they were not good enough.

7.) 22 May 2019 06:20:04
Hasn't Lallana been injured? Everyone is commenting on his game time but he is still a great back up player.

let's be fair on the guy!

8.) 22 May 2019 07:51:15
This seems sensible and plausible.

Lallana could have offered more this season but for injuries. He is a good option from the bench, but if he wants more game time, and to move back down south, fair play to him.

I hope Wilson can push the first teamers and take the next step.

9.) 22 May 2019 10:01:42
i say again, if Wilson can't track back to defend consistently, he won't get game time.

10.) 22 May 2019 20:15:14
Lots of talk about lack of game time . let's not forget we hardly had a run in the domestic cup competitions so hopefully next season will be better and that's what 6 to 8 games extra.

11.) 23 May 2019 07:29:53
Studge chipped in with a wonder goal to get us a point, I’m sure Wilson can nick a few which would already make him a dangerous thought with 20 to go.

12.) 23 May 2019 12:04:17
Wilson is not good enough, he disappeared in a number of Derby games last season and you only really heard of him due to a couple of free kicks (albeit very good ones, and one against utd) plus he has the largest number of shots from outside the box in the championship which isn't Liverpool's game either.

Just quick question Eds's just wondering it's been mentioned that Amanda stavely was at the Newcastle game to look at potential investment into Newcastle. Would it be possible it was really us she was there for? (Possible investment that is) P. s is she a Liverpool fan as being reported or is this just papertrash?
Cheers great site!

dickiedidoh

{Ed001's Note - she was there to watch us and sort out a deal to buy Newcastle, I believe she is a Liverpool fan, at least according to someone who was involved in the aborted attempt by DIC to buy Liverpool. Impossible to say, as she could have been saying that just to get her foot in the door I know, but you can only go on what information you have available to you!

There were some NDAs signed with Ashley in the first steps towards a deal being completed. Still early days though for it, but at least Rafa might have something to look forward to.}

Does anyone have a prognosis on how long Trent is out for? Cheers.

dickiedidoh

1.) 15 Feb 2024 11:07:05
He's due to miss Brentford and Luton games as well as the cup final.

2.) 15 Feb 2024 11:24:56
I read somewhere that it's be about 3-5 games? They're hopeful that he'd be able to come back in time for the City game on 10 March.

3.) 15 Feb 2024 14:18:00
Love the guy and never thought I’d say this, but if he’s out for a few more games I’d seriously consider playing Conor B if he does well between now and then. He’s been a revelation and has been so solid defensively vs playing someone just back from injury, even if it’s a player as awesome as TAA.

4.) 15 Feb 2024 15:36:21
SGRed, pretty sure Conor B was going to be playing a lot (along with Gomez perhaps) had tragedy not struck, something that pushed Trent to play a bit too much despite him not being fully fit to play as much as he did before the setback happened. If Conor B can't play then, Gomez should step in esp with Robbo and Tsimikas back at LB.

Trent is a very, very important player in our system and this for years so we got to soldier on and keep playing to win cos we've done really well thus far.

5.) 15 Feb 2024 18:47:44
SHRed, might be interpreting what you've written wrong. But why would you say " if he’s out for a few more games I’d seriously consider playing Conor B if he does well between now and then"

I would have thought Conor is the obvious choice to play. Gomez or Robbo at LB, either can play the inverted role and will allow Conor to bomb forward. that system has worked really well.

6.) 15 Feb 2024 19:03:34
@Faith, I was saying the same thing or thereabouts BUT I may have misunderstood as well, probably.

7.) 15 Feb 2024 16:22:21
Szobo I’m worried about. Massive lack of midfield power when he’s missing.

8.) 15 Feb 2024 21:23:51
I think Robbo will play at LB and Gomez at RB. I think Klopp will let Bradley work his way back into the side again. Seems like the future at RB though based on what we’ve seen so far.

If Bradley does start tomorrow, I think it shows a massive level of confidence and resilience. I can’t see Klopp risking him if he’s not completely ready, we have very good cover.

9.) 16 Feb 2024 11:03:20
Fully agree, Footyfan. I'll be surprised if Conor plays as I expect Gomez to start, as well.

21 Dec 2023 20:53:22
Was at the game Weds and really feel that Endo gives our back 4 much more protection than anyone else. He is getting better and stronger every game breaks up play and either looks to set up attack or play simple ball and start again showing his experience. I was in lower kd and felt that atmosphere was better than most games I've been to this season. The away fans will always make a lot of noise as they are all bunched together, easier for songs and noise to take off etc. That being said i think Klopp played a blinder in the press and Anfield will be like a European night on sat. Keep the faith Ynwa.

dickiedidoh

1.) 22 Dec 2023 12:14:28
Sat will be a good test for Endo and the rest of the midfield.

Plus they have good wide forwards so full backs will need to be on point.

We have nothing to fear from Arsenal but we’ll need to play with Wed intensity not the intensity we have V Utd, Palace and Fulham.

2.) 22 Dec 2023 12:29:28
Endo had a very good game. His passing is great. He can be pressured a little when being pressed but that is just something to work on. Quite pleased to have Endo in our squad and is my first choice DM in the squad right now.

3.) 22 Dec 2023 13:25:15
I think Endo is slow across the pitch and ponderous on the ball on most occasions, granted he had a better game against West Ham who changed seven players from the weekend.

4.) 22 Dec 2023 13:43:13
Endo will be tested against arsenal who won't give him a second to breath. Still not first choice for me. Agree with @Irish.

5.) 22 Dec 2023 15:25:41
While I agree endo is first choice DM and had a good game, I think so far he’s too slow on the ball and too weak in possession for what we need. I’d love for him to prove me wrong and hope he does against the gunners but in my opinion we really do need to strengthen there asap and go back to a proper back 4 too. Come on endo - prove me wrong please!

6.) 22 Dec 2023 15:49:59
He's an ok player with a great attitude and work ethic. However, like Lucas and Klavan, we can do better in that position.

7.) 22 Dec 2023 19:11:03
I think I agree on the pace. It's not that he is slow but that lone DM is a tough position and pace I think is a key ingredient. Endo makes up with good defensive intellegence and work rate but I would look to the transfer market if there is a top pacy DM available.

Endo is a very useful player in the squad tough. I think he brings a lot and is the best DM we currently have with Bajcetic out injured.

8.) 22 Dec 2023 19:43:32
I agree with you guys on endo … when he receives the ball from the CB he gets tackled all the time cos he’s not quick enough or shrewd enough to spot the person pressing . arsenal will jump all over him

He will need far more training to be up to speed
Like Fabinho - I remember how slow he was in his reactions after receiving it but he developed.

9.) 22 Dec 2023 21:21:50
It’s easy to like Endo seems to be a humble guy, he does get caught on the ball but if he starts and we really go at them and don’t allow Ødegaard on the ball he has the right attitude and effort to give us a top class game
Merry Christmas all I cannot wait.

10.) 23 Dec 2023 01:23:16
Redrebel I think the Palace game was a bit of a watershed moment for Endo. They targeted him as he received the ball from the CB and he got caught numerous times.

Then in the Utd and West Ham games he just popped it back to the CB first time when under pressure. You could say that Utd and West Ham barely put us under pressure but that’s because we didn’t allow them to.

Let Arsenal target Endo because they will leave gaps in behind them when they rush him and I think the penny has dropped with him.

11.) 23 Dec 2023 10:36:49
He needs to play because we are so open without his sort of player. His pace is an issue because he can be too aggressive and gets caught up further up sometime but my biggest issue with him is he dithers on the ball sometimes and loses it in dangerous areas. Hopefully he adapts to PL pace quickly.

10 Nov 2023 10:05:46
Anyone still think the game isn't bent? Maybe it was poor refereeing and poor var and not understanding the rules? Maybe ?.

dickiedidoh

1.) 10 Nov 2023 10:52:13
Is it just bent when it involves Liverpool? Maybe the officials had Toulouse to win 3-2 ?.

2.) 10 Nov 2023 11:56:43
It's either corrupt as the Saudis have bought it or the officials are just ridiculously inept and should be sacked.

Tough call.

3.) 10 Nov 2023 19:41:05
Creates a lot of talking points though doesn't it?
It seems that the people who decide these kinds of things are happy with it.

02 Oct 2023 12:31:27
Hi Guys great site still and some interesting ideas going forward regarding the spurs debacle. I am still of the belief that there is corruption involved and have been for some time. It is just too bad to be anything else. As far as the team goes I think that this should make the players as angry as the fans. Let it give them an "us v everyone else" mentality and use it to inspire us! This is already a v good team despite having so many new players and could become a great one. There shouldn't be anyone in this league that we are afraid of. Let's smash them all off the park and win the prem again!

dickiedidoh

1.) 02 Oct 2023 12:57:59
it isn't corruption - it is utter incompetence. There is no conspiracy to destroy LFC, just some utter numpties who are officiating the game currently.

2.) 02 Oct 2023 14:19:52
I thought it was incompetence and not corruption but this, I believe unprecedented “refereeing trip to the UAE” provides just enough smoke.

19 Aug 2023 15:26:50
Is anyone aware of how much is left to do to complete the upper tier of the new stand? Wondered if the builders going into administration will delay it even further?

Thanks guys ??.

dickiedidoh

1.) 19 Aug 2023 15:57:26
My understanding it's fairly well advanced and there was only a couple of weeks of work left.

There'd probably be a bit of faffing about sorting out the bond and then running a tender for a replacement contractor though.

2.) 19 Aug 2023 16:03:06
You can expect delays as the work was already meant to be completed.

3.) 19 Aug 2023 16:20:18
Tender will immediately be offered to the other firms who put in for ye tender, let's hope they're still interested.

4.) 19 Aug 2023 18:14:53
They said mid October fully open and full capacity. Work stopped on Thursday. Every day between now and whenever work restarts can be added to the mid October date announced by the club 2 weeks ago.

The way I view it (and it is opinion) is that we are slumping like every other team has. This is the first time in 2 years we have been off our game yet we still aren’t bad. IMO Williams nor Phillips are anywhere near the level needed but we will have to make do. If we win anything this season it will be the sweetest of all. Would people rather we broke the bank for a centre half and suffered for years to come. Don’t behave like spoiled kids guys it will come back to as as the club is being run as it should and not just by each transfer window. In my humble opinion. ynwa.

{Ed002's Note - It has been coming as I explained previously. FIFA and to some extent UEFA want to hurt the English sides. The issue Manchester City has is questionable as it relates to third party sponsorship. For some years UEFA have been trying to deflect a legal challenge but want agreement with the the capping of television income and sponsorship. UEFA has spoken to a number of clubs but have generally not found them supportive – all three English sides in the "elite" group have been spoken to are against the plans to introduce the investment cap but others are of course fighting for it to lower the advantage that English sides have. UEFA turned to the association of European clubs and they are keen to have some input. They are traditionally ignored but they have been actively discussing this issue with UEFA. However, they are excluded from the discussions that UEFA and specific clubs have with each other – and it is that forum that will eventually settle on the more critical television revenue and commercial sponsorship caps. The charge relates to overstating sponsorship to even out FFP and have been expected for a long time - The FA have already made similar charges against other clubs and have more in their sights. It will eventually go to appeal - UEFA won't in all probability oppose the appeal process meaning it will likely not impact next season - this however could result in an issue with FIFA and another side. Manchester City have known about this for a number of years. There will be at least two more concerned English sides. If the worst happens and restictions are made with involvement in the Champions League, discussions have been held to hold very lucrative friendlies on the European dates - they can be planned will in advance - be held across the globe and television rights can be sold. Manchester City see this as a better option than going down certain other routes that are potentially available to them - such as the breakaway the "elite" clubs are considering, the first team pre-season first team competition being supported by Liverpool as the owners look to monetorise the club or the further expanded Club World Cup. Discussion with teams from around the world have already taken place.}
