Have to give it to the lad salah he looks a class player, I wasn't convinced when you signed him he'd turn out to be so good. Question is tho how long can you hold onto him? No top 4 this year and he'll down tools in my opinion but can you see him sticking around for the best part of his career if it's only top 4 without challenging for the top honours?

dublingunner

1.) 05 Feb 2018 14:25:18
*no top 4 for Arsenal.

2.) 05 Feb 2018 14:25:23
he ain't no sanchez mate he won't be downing tools anytime soon you can be sure of that.

3.) 05 Feb 2018 14:33:39
Ozil has 😉.

4.) 05 Feb 2018 14:58:50
It does not take much to beat Everton 5-1 nowadays dublingunner.

5.) 05 Feb 2018 15:01:21
And you know Salah will down tools how, exactly? We'll handle Salah thank you very much. You guys just focus on doing Spurs, okay? I propose you stick to your club regarding players downing tools cos you guys are in way more trouble than you think.

6.) 05 Feb 2018 15:17:33
Jeez Louise one gunner comes and we become the the saltiest guys on earth, chill dudes! Seriously.

7.) 05 Feb 2018 15:25:39
im a realist DG, imo salah will be headhunted by real Madrid this summer even if we finish 2nd, I only hope he will give us 1 more season, it also depends who we sign in the summer, however as ed002 often reminds us players come and go all the time. He has been truly superb, god knows what his final goals total will be.

{Ed002's Note - It was Salah who had his agent approach Real Madrid not the other way around.}

8.) 05 Feb 2018 15:41:28
Definitely a few bites there 😄.

9.) 05 Feb 2018 15:54:02
top clubs will always be interested in top players, salah's stats are incredible, real Madrid will be having a clear out come the summer, mo salah is bound to be a target, not trying to cause trouble just facing facts.

10.) 05 Feb 2018 15:56:44
A few guys on their period today i think.

11.) 05 Feb 2018 16:11:25
Thing is Dublingunner, I think there was always a good player in Salah, just that he was treated unfairly by Mourinho.

12.) 05 Feb 2018 16:22:52
Salah hasn't even been here a season and his agent has contacted Madrid about a move. Do you think the agent acts without his clients say so. Unfortunately salah is using us has a stepping stone I just hope when Madrid come knocking we demand coutinho money for him aswell. It's disgusting to think we have become a stepping stone club but I can't blame players for wanting to win trophies. And we simply don't win any with consistency.

13.) 05 Feb 2018 16:35:18
Fatboy that’s just how it goes. If Salah leaves for Madrid as long as we get a good price and replace him with top quality then it’s fine.

{Ed002's Note - In answer to Fatboy - Salah had his agent approach Madrid - I should not need to explain the same thing over and over.}

14.) 05 Feb 2018 17:51:14
ED2 haha I think we all have it drilled into us that salah through his agent approached Madrid first, we are just saying that if in the summer Madrid decide to call Salah back then he might leave, or even if Salah reaches out to Madrid again in the summer.

{Ed002's Note - His agent has had more than one discussion with them and Salah has spoken to a couple of third parties asking advice. We know this and it is nothing new.}

15.) 05 Feb 2018 17:30:01
Your career is in your own hands as they say, if Salah sees Madrid as the pinnacle and that this summer will be his best chance of getting that move then who are we to say he shouldn't persue it. As long as he is giving 100% while he's here of course.

16.) 05 Feb 2018 18:23:03
I think Salah thought the players already at Liverpool were better than they are. He has come in and set the league on fire and set new scoring records, but we still have a massive fight on just to get 4th.

No wonder he is asking about Madrid. I hope we can improve a lot in the summer and he will stay another year. There is no we could get anyone to fully replace him.

{Ed002's Note - His worry is not the Liverpool players but something else. Liverpool will resist selling.}

17.) 05 Feb 2018 18:25:10
As you say Ed. Transient employees. As long as we replace with quality then it’s not an issue. As it is, Salah has been brilliant this season.

{Ed002's Note - He has done very well indeed.}

18.) 05 Feb 2018 18:29:12
Which he without a doubt is doing so. He is giving his all and his numbers don't lie. We need quality players who see us as the pinnacle and not a stepping stone. You only get that kind of mentality from youth players who come right through the ranks to the first team a la trent. Just want us to win a trophy and become the club players want to win trophies at. not too much to ask.

19.) 05 Feb 2018 18:47:02
yes Salah has had a great season so far, but I think that there is room for improvement, sometimes his first touch is not great, his passing could be better,
if he does stay another season, he will become a better player,
moving to Real Madrid is not the best move for him, they are having a real, forgive the pun, bad season,
they have two players who we have looked at, they maybe the selling club .

20.) 05 Feb 2018 18:47:59
Yous have to be the most bitter fans going I only asked a simple question and gave praise to salah and get abuse of how useless arsenal are. Get over yourselves yous haven't exactly being pulling up tress in recent years.

{Ed002's Note - They don't understand "banter" so tend to struggle with fans of any other club DG.}

21.) 05 Feb 2018 18:59:46
When you get a special player like that you should build a proper defence, buy a world class keeper. Do everything to become a top top side. In the January Transfer market we had that opportunity, failed, we need to do it in summer or he will simply leave.

{Ed002's Note - What "world class" keeper was going to join Liverpool in January?}

22.) 05 Feb 2018 19:54:42
How have madrid responsed Ed? Is he a player they may look to?

{Ed002's Note - He is seen as an option.}

23.) 05 Feb 2018 20:05:27
By the way Dublingunner I think you got the better deal bringing in Mkhitaryan for Sanchez. Mourinho will turn Sanchez into a left back, while Mkhitaryan looks like he’ll strike up a good understanding with Aubemeyang again because he’s playing for a coach who likes playing football not a coach who plays anti football. Hope you turn Spurs over next week too btw.

24.) 05 Feb 2018 20:35:48
Doesn't matter wat mourinho does to sanchez he is a world class player and undoubtedly his departure makes arsenal weaker.

25.) 05 Feb 2018 20:49:17
But you brought in Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan which makes up for it if they both reignite their partnership they had at Dortmund, which there is a reasonable chance of considering you guys actually pay football, m you also might get some schadenfreude if it all goes belly up for Sanchez, so win win?

26.) 05 Feb 2018 21:01:55
"His worry is not the Liverpool players but something else. "
What do you mean ed?

{Ed002's Note - Read the post above.}

27.) 05 Feb 2018 21:34:55
To become a good team again we can't sell our best players you need to add to the team not just make up for the loss of your best player. Arsenal and Liverpool are in the same boat in that respect.

28.) 05 Feb 2018 22:10:29
Salah should apply for the Madrid manager’s job, definitely a vacancy on the cards there.

If he wants to play for that shower then good luck to him, we’ll get a huge fee and he’ll end up as a bit part player 🤝.

29.) 05 Feb 2018 22:14:11
You are right Dublin. Hope our situation changes in the summer. Top 4 will be very important. Good luck to Arsenal at the weekend.

30.) 05 Feb 2018 22:53:36
Spot on, Ed. I have been asking the same question re: signing a world class GK in January and am yet to get an answer.

31.) 06 Feb 2018 02:13:10
Why did salah ask his agent to approach real? If its not about our level of football.

I don't know why players keep looking to leave Liverpool. You don't hear this much with our rivals, spurs arsenal Chelsea and utd. Players need to honour their contracts and be pleased they are playing for football royalty. Even winning champions league won't stop it. Last time we won it we lost loads of good players soon after.

32.) 06 Feb 2018 16:57:41
Spurs - Bale, Arsenal - Sanchez, Chelsea - Hazard, ManU - C Ronaldo.

The top players all get tempted. Ok Hazard hasn’t gone yet but there has been plenty of rumours.
This is not peculiar to LFC. Transferring generates income for players and agents. It’s not going to stop so better just adapt and move on.

Gunner in peace,
Had a look at the poll on where lpool Will finish and was amazed to see over 30% say first. After 2 years of being 6th-8th how can anyone expect them to win the league? youve brought in some decent players but none of them jump out as an excellent buy who will lift yous up the table, not forgetting all tge other teams strengthen aswell. Is it just blind optimism or the fact most Liverpool fans see klopp as the Messiah that makes yous think you'll win the league. Btw not dissing klopp he's a good manager who was on my shortlist to replace AW but just feel most fans think he will win the league because he did similar at BvB albeit with a much better team
Good luck with next year would like to see yous back in top 4 jus not at arsenals expense ha.

dublingunner

1.) 01 Aug 2016 15:37:06
It's called optimism and getting behind your team/ manager mate. Us Liverpool fans will always have hope!

2.) 01 Aug 2016 15:49:09
Leicester done it. Why not us?

3.) 01 Aug 2016 16:04:40
Because last time I check one player can't win a leauge . Football is a team and having a good manger . It's not all about big names and let's go and splash 100 mil on the player .

4.) 01 Aug 2016 16:18:09
We have strengthened a whole lot more than your bunch that's for sure.

5.) 01 Aug 2016 16:33:01
An on that subject think it will be this year You lot won't make top 4. Us chelski an 2 mancs no particular order.

6.) 01 Aug 2016 16:48:12
A bit of both - sure there is a fair amount of biased optimism but I also think with Chelski, Man U and Man City all changing managers there's a chance they might just struggle for consistency early on, and that opens a bit of a window for more settled sides. Klopp has had half a season to get the team playing his way and the new recruits have been very strategic and addressing obvious weaknesses such as GK, CB, a lack of pace in attacking midfield.

You lot look good if you can sign a top striker (been saying that for a while though! ) and Tottenham can't be discounted but overall I think his year will be very open and tough to predict.

I can't think of many sides that have an obviously more dangerous forward line than Coutinho, Firmino, Sturridge, Mane, Origi. I think a lot will come down to how Can and Hendo perform (and Wijnaldum/ Grujic/ Ings as wildcards) and whether our fullbacks and GK can stop us conceding soft goals.

P. s. If we don't win it, I hope you lads do. Failing Liverpool winning it, next best outcome would be Wenger getting one over Mourinho and going out on a well deserved high.

7.) 01 Aug 2016 17:23:21
Probably because when Klopp took over at Dortmund they had just finished 13th and he built them into one of the best teams in Europe.

8.) 01 Aug 2016 16:58:36
Wenger will never retire lol.

9.) 01 Aug 2016 17:04:28
What would July / early August be for the Football fan without the triumph of hope over expectation?
A bit of both for me.
8th is a bit misleading. We weren't far off 4th in absolute points terms and prioritised the UEFA cup towards the end of the season. For me a top 4 finish and a good cup run (hopefully win) is not unrealistic.

10.) 01 Aug 2016 17:40:01
I asked my best mate who is a blue at the start of the season quite a few years back " who do you want to win the league this year", and he said man United and I said "don't you want Everton to win it"? He flipped out saying it's a loaded question and how of course he wanted Everton to win it but they had no chance!

What's the point of supporting a team dublingunner if you don't think you can win it? I think we've got a decent chance which is slightly eroded by the failure to buy a decent left back and having to start the season with Mingolet in goal😔.

11.) 01 Aug 2016 18:16:12
You can support a team without being blindly optimistic.
I don't think we will win the league this year.
I can see us getting top 4 comfortably though depending on if the new signings gel into the team well.
Also depends on who we get at left back as well,

12.) 01 Aug 2016 18:18:30
Mr Gunner in peace, be careful what you say about us being optimistic as your lot haven`t been pulling any trees either. You haven`t won the PL in 12 years (going 13 IMO) and you have no CL trophy to your name (and never will at this rate) despite 20 odd consecutive appearances. We are optimistic that we can challenge this time and we had chances last season to get amongst the fight for 3rd or 4th but our inconsistencies killed us. That is what we have to fix. You have your own issues internally and it starts with a manager who is well past his best by 10 years who has conned you into being title contenders every season ONLY to choke on it in the end and finish runner up AFTER being officially eliminated from the race. that is not progress, my friend. I propose you look inwards first before saying we are too optimistic.

13.) 01 Aug 2016 18:52:36
I don't think there is another team who will be able to live with us next season. We're probably going to break a whole host of records.
That's not blind optimism, I genuinely think it is the most likely scenario.

14.) 01 Aug 2016 19:22:32
Ron keague for president, now that's a man who could sell me a rotten fish as a bar of soap. not taking the mickey at all, I always look forward to the footy, the highs the lows help keep it real for me, transfers and hype not so much but the buzz of winning a game and the week long illness after a loss is what makes me want more, anyway as a club we have to go better than eighth and I'm confident we will so straight away I'm optimistic that we'll have a better league season.

15.) 01 Aug 2016 19:24:17
Well it's not like arsenal have bought is it? Or anyone who stands out anyway we have no Europe which is a strength against all of you last time that was the case we finished second with a much weaker squad than now and to be fairly honest I believe year in year out we are going to win it and everything else we are involved in because to me there is no other team who stands on the same pedestal as liverpool and never will even with the injection of cash the likes of city and Chelsea got over recent years no team comes close my team may not finish top every year and actually was just born the last time we won it but even if I have to wait another 27 years to watch them win it will be well worth the wait you see this club isn't just a club it's family to me every time I see someone walk past with a liverpool top on I just have to smile because we share the same highs and the same lows as I do. liverpool is like my mistress I tell my wife I love her more than anything but really liverpool is my one true love and I hope to god my wife doesn't come on and see this because I'll be up a creek without a paddle.

16.) 01 Aug 2016 19:44:09
Jamesy, just invest in a paddle mate and walk at least you can you use it as a spade for when you dig your own hole trust me I've had to use mine a few times.

17.) 01 Aug 2016 19:49:17
First of all it means almost 70% are more realistic. Second, prediction, hope, banter, showing support for the team all mix up in these polls. This time of the year when we dodn't lose a point yet may be the only time for these bold predictions. Finally last yeat more than handful of Leicester fans not only thought they would win it, but actually put some money on it. Didn't do their bank account any damage.

18.) 01 Aug 2016 19:55:44
Why is it whenever an Arsenal fan comes in peace we feel the need to get so arrogant and throw major shade Arsenals way, come on lads be nice.

19.) 01 Aug 2016 20:27:27
I just asked a question never once said arsenal are in a great position to win the league. iam realistic and know we havnt made any great signings apart from xhaka and we won't win the league as long as AW stays. still feel we'll get CL as we have for the last 20 years.1 more question to the people who say you'll get top 4 if yous don't does that mean klopp failed?

20.) 01 Aug 2016 20:43:14
Hope we'll win! Think we'll do well to make top 4.
And ye I agree with welsh, its not like the dude / duedette came on here telling us how areogant and irrational we are! We have ed002 here to do that!

21.) 01 Aug 2016 22:26:25
As long as we are challenging, Klopp will not have failed. If it's very tight and we come 5th but say 6 points off 1st, that will not have been failure in my book.

{Ed002's Note - Even his wife didn't say it was tight.}

22.) 01 Aug 2016 23:56:43
I think the guy was genuinely looking for some feedback . I'm not sure he was here to wind anyone up.

Great goal but nowhere near the wow factor of Bale or Ronaldo. at the ebd of the day it comes down to winning trophies. If yous would have won the CL salah would have hands down won the award. Awesome player btw.

Yes I forgot 1 nice goal makes you a great player. Did wilshere not get goal of the season for his goal against Norwich? By your logic that makes him the best player. Not saying wilshere is a class player but take of the blinkers mate Henderson is no world beater either.
