The big question why bring back ward?

east anglia lfc

1.) 18 Feb 2016 20:02:57
Let's face it Bogdans done so he had to be brought back I no he's not playing but that's how it goes, I've said before I reckon the next clanger or 2 by Migs and he will play him, but I'd have given him a go tonight tho.

2.) 18 Feb 2016 20:34:26
Because we can't rely on Bogdan as backup.

3.) 18 Feb 2016 21:33:57
He should of had a game tonight Imo.

4.) 19 Feb 2016 01:41:16
Isn't he cup-tied after playing for Aberdeen in the qualifying stages?

Hope all had nice new year.
Out of boredom was trying my best to come up with sensible question I've not seen asked on here.
I notice a lot in some clubs that when a player is injured and on way back to fitness they will have 1 or 2 games in u21's.
You don't seem to see this to much at Liverpool.
1 of my fave lucas always seems to do this way. Is it outta choice player wise or manager?

east anglia lfc

{Ed001's Note - Rafa was the one who introduced it to us, he felt the reserve level was too low to benefit players. I have always thought it was a big part of the reason why our fringe players always looked so poor, they were rusty when they got a chance. These days our players will play in the U21s, if they need fitness. It is a manager's decision.}

New year? 😄.

Shame about dell Ali going Newcastle good player lost there

east anglia lfc

1.) Thought we had made an offer

{Ed002's Note - No, but there was interest.}

2.) Gutted if he has gone there, he looks the real deal, and a good head on his shoulders by all accounts, I was hoping he would be a long term replacement for Gerrard. Karl Robinson, (scouser) his manager sung his praises and I know he is in touch with various people at Liverpool, I really thought we would get him. Hope we don't rue missing out too much as I wish the kid all the best.

3.) 29 Jan 2015 17:52:09
I thought they were just one of the clubs interested? Didn't realise it was deal done already, is it?

4.) 29 Jan 2015 18:18:21
He is a cracking player and all the best wishes for him. We had interest along with Will Hughes.
2 players Closest to Gerrard.

5.) 29 Jan 2015 20:35:46
He is good enough to be a solid squad player for any team in the league even at his current age. He is so calm and has great technique, and he is also quite a unit. If we weren't overloaded with Midfielders I think we would have tried for him. Just a shame that one of said Midfielders is Joe Allen.

6.) Pride, your right mate, he does look like he could become "the next Gerrard" hope it isn't a done deal to Newcastle and we have a go at getting him. I read him really really highly.

7.) 29 Jan 2015 22:35:32
Joe Allen isn't a physical specimen nor the strongest lad in the world, but he doesn't half get some stick on here. Is it all really justified?

He's a lot better at protecting the ball than given credit for because 'he isn't strong enough'. He recycles play particularly well, and he isn't exactly a lazy player, he works and gets about plenty.

He doesn't fit in this system unless you leave out Hendo, which just isn't a possibility right now. But despite this, I think he gets a bit hard done by.

His game isn't at all suited to the high paced transitional play (offensively and defensively), which we currently utilise. So, sure he doesn't currently fit and I wouldn't be upset if he left, but I also wouldn't be totally against holding on to him as a squad player.

But finally to suggest that Dele Ali, is better than him, and would play for most top teams in midfield? At least try to be realistic and hide agendas. I know it's a current trend, but the constant agenda posting is becoming tiresome, it just leads to unrational arguments.

8.) Joe Allen is an appalling player, no pace, knocked off the ball easily, can't head the ball, can't tackle, can't pass the ball more than ten yards back or sideways, offers nothing going forward, can't shoot, has poor positional sense, loses 50/50's and offers absolutely nothing to the team. i'd rather try Dele Alli as he is a talented player and can only get better, Joe Allen is as good as he will ever be and that's not very good.

9.) 30 Jan 2015 00:59:08
Yes personally I would take Alli in my squad over Allen, and I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of managers in England were asked, they would choose Alli. It is clear that I rate Alli highly and I believe he will go on to be a top England international so yes I would like us to have in our team. Allen doesn't offer enough to the team to justify his wages and his consistently not good enough performances justify the stick he gets. Obviously that can be said about more than just him for our current crop, but at the end of the day we signed from a team who were at the mid table, and a mid table team is where he belongs. I don't see the problem with people on a football banter website expressing their dislike of a player. It's not like it's just Allen either, the players who deserve stick get it here. That is the purpose of places like this, to vent opinions and frustration and discuss with other fans.

10.) 30 Jan 2015 08:09:00
Good season in league one and it's clear he's going to be a top international, alright then. Kid looks good. He'd not get regular game time in any of the top half teams in England except maybe Soton. He'd be a waste of time for us, in an area we have plenty of young talent of our own to try. Good luck to him and Newcastle - don't bother learning your managers name kid, he won't be around long

11.) If the lad signs for Newcastle and turns out to be every bit as good as his current manager says(and having seen him he looks head and shoulders above his team mates), then if we then want to sign him it would cost a ridiculous fee, he is well worth a punt.

12.) 30 Jan 2015 14:02:19
03beef, I don't have issues with anyone expressing opinions on players, but why can't people do it rationally? Why is it always just tunnel visioned destruction of a player? My post clearly outlined Allen may be best off moved on, yet I also stated what he offers and does well. According to everyone else he has no qualities as a pro footballer, let alone an international.

Everyone keeps pointing to poor performances, this is just scape goating, particularly seeing as until recently (he has played once since injury) we haven't been performing as a team.

Again, I'll reiterate; has qualities which could allow him to be a very good squad player for us, just unfortunately he doesn't quite fit into our style currently in a 3-4-3. Because of this, maybe best for him he moves on. He definitely gets more stick than he deserves.

13.) Sorry, but Allen is a championship player at best. Nowhere near the quality we need. He's blocking a route into the first team for Jordan Williams and Jordan Rossiter if he is only a squad player. Allennever had an effective game for us since signing and is a complete waste of £15m.

14.) I agree Big E.
It is easy to say "Allen" an awful footballer championship at best". than to say why they don't like him in sensible terms.
I would state this. Allen is a better footballer than everyone who reads this site except for me.
And if he wants to test me.
I'll pass on my details to the eds. Let Allen get in touch and we'll sort a 5 a side out at Kirkby sports centre.

Probably going to get shot down for saying this but I keep reading gerrard won us champions league but I that does the mighty hamman injustice he changed the game in are favour gerrard scored and rallied the troops but hamman made the difference how I'd love to remember I'm 26 have hypia and henchoz at the back with gerrard hamman in midfirld

east anglia lfc

1.) The Kaiser changed the game in our favour, we were being run through at will by Milan as Gerrard didn't have the discipline to play the position required, Hamann allowed the others to play by tackling and doing the simple things brilliantly, Gerrard played a huge part getting us back in the game, but Hamann changed it in our favour. Plus he (Hamann) took a pen with a broken foot.

{Ed001's Note - personally I think everyone played their part. Carra's firing up of the players and pushing them forward was just as vital too. Alonso getting the rebound etc. They all played their part. It is wrong that certain individuals have been given all the glory for a team performance.}

2.) Agree with both east anglia and ED01, and also with Mr Dennis for a change.

3.) We were getting mullered til the kaiser came on but there were so many little things that added to the result, the point blank save by dudek, smicer's wonderful long range daisy cutter, carra fighting cramp, Traore having the game of his life. What a night.

4.) Agree with Mr Dennis again, something is not right!

Gerrard was great 5 years ago brutal but true time to move on. I would prefer if he wasn't around the club and was doing his badges elsewhere. P neville is somebody I like (painful) how he has been learning under different coaches and now in Spain I think something like that would benefit Gerrard coaching range.
