Sky sports reporting texiera deal off as a deal could not be struck, typical lol.

general

1.) 27 Jan 2016 18:20:32
Sorry general but typical would of been paying way over the odds and signing him! He is a great player and would of loved to have him in our team but not for the amount they were asking! I for one am happy the club acted sensibly in this occasion!

2.) 27 Jan 2016 18:15:50
They said it was unlikely we would pay the €50million asking price not that the deal is off completely, I don't understand your typical comments? We have spent and brokered a lot of deals recently so don't get your point.

3.) 27 Jan 2016 18:38:19
I tend to agree with STEPH1, good player and a welcome attacker with an eye for goal - but they are holding tus to ransom from a strong position as they own him. It's a huge fee and we paid that for Benteke who is proven in EPL with a 50% goal to game ratio when he joined us (that's gone down a bit somewhat), I am not entirely sure why but it just hasn't worked for him with us.
Financial security, allowing the new manager to use a range of players in different roles, a clear out in the summer (we expect) and we can be in a better position to buy then when Mr Klopp has decided what we need and no longer need.
He is doing well in what most would say is a slightly lesser league, I am sure he looks good enough to do well in EPL but we don't know. We may be able to get the fee lower in the summer if still of interest and he doesn't move elsewhere.
That was longer than I expected, sorry.

4.) 27 Jan 2016 19:16:09
Some reports saying €50m xhaka
Ynwa.

5.) 27 Jan 2016 19:16:26
Does it not remind u of the sterling situation? Every team has their price if you want the player you have to pay it you can't play hardball with your own players then go in with half hearted bids for other teams stars just my opinion : )

6.) 27 Jan 2016 19:22:53
Consider we were willing to pay £30m for Willian - or £33m? I can't quite remember - and that we paid £32ish for Benteke, we should just pay the £38m in my opinion, before we lose him, like we lost Willian or the price goes up in the summer.

In the summer we can move on whatever players we don't need when there is perhaps more time to do so over the summer window. Just my view, I know it may be a bit naive, but I think the club is taking a long view on the road to success and if so we need to get these quality players in whilst they are available to us. We've dithered in the past and lost out.

7.) 27 Jan 2016 19:33:50
Actually it is typical, we overpay on average players and don't cough up when it's the better quality players. £38m is a lot of money but that's the going rate. We bought benteke for £32.5m but heistitate when it's the better player. That is what's typical about it. Yet again we miss out on a player that can actually improve us and yet again fans have been stripteased into thinking we are actually getting a player everyone wants.

8.) 27 Jan 2016 19:48:57
Bazzaa the Benteke signing was never going to work if we adopted a pressing style with the style of football being more intricate. We replace a footballing God in Suarez who was a pressed, intricate and had an eye for goal and replace him with a static, immobile and lazy striker, TWICE, Balotelli and Benteke respectively. I'm not doubting the talent of the two, particularly the latter but it was madness to buy him let alone spend that amount on him, both of them for that matter.

9.) 27 Jan 2016 20:04:58
carlitoc, completely agree. Nearly £50 mil wasted on them both, we could have got Texiera and Cout for that. I meant if we pay that money our game would need to adapt, for £32 mil, but it didn't and Benteke hasn't changed his game either which is all rather confusing - square peg round hole situation with no give from either side.
Mr Klopp is coming in means he now has a very expensive player who is of no use to how he seems he wants the team to play.
I just don't think we have the capital for a £38 mil player untiland summer transfers begin, I really fear FFP sanctioning us.

10.) 27 Jan 2016 20:42:10
Id rather over pay a bit for a player I really want than end up with 2 I didn't.

11.) 27 Jan 2016 20:57:14
Chris bang on

There's a good chance teams are going to come in for him in the summer, whether they pay the asking fee or the price lowers I don't know.

So if it is a top target then snap him up, we've enough players to sell in the summer to cover the fee.

12.) 27 Jan 2016 21:11:47
Also to add to my point, how many times have we lost out on our main targets because we wouldn't up our bids?

So then we get our pants pulled down going after our 3rd choice targets.

At times we have only needed a couple of world class players but instead we buy 7 or 8 players every summer.

I'm hoping klopp trims down the squad and brings in proven quality players, then in a couple of years we only have to look at bringing in 1 top player a summer.

13.) 27 Jan 2016 21:14:38
Agree with others, worth paying the premium to get him now.

I think also to bear in mind is how happy that keeps Couthinho. Its worth paying an extra few million if it keeps Phillipe happy, stops him thinking about moving to Spain, well worth it.

14.) 27 Jan 2016 21:55:19
i think you all need to realise we have to start spending more wisely, just because we wasted 32 mill on benteke does not justify spending money we currently don't have! the club is going to offer what they believe he is worth and what they can afford and not overinflated offers (i hope) just because you guys want to see another fancy brazilian name on the team sheet whos made a name for himself playing in ukraine (no offense to the ukranian league but its nowhere near the level of the pl) .
Sorry for the rant it's just sometimes i find some posts to be very naive. I'd much prefer we get a deal done at a reasonable price (in the summer maybe) or if not move on, plenty of fish in the sea.

15.) 27 Jan 2016 22:19:39
Lads, everyone here is great in hindsight. It's easy to say that texiera is worth the money, but like Big Ben and super Mario, he could turn out to be a waste of money. How are the people who are championing him so sure he is so good. YouTube would be my guess and they really show a balanced picture and not just the players outstanding moments. I remember some, but not as many as there are now, saying benteke was wrong for us while some (I can't remember the names) thought he was an excellent option for a plan b for us. I wonder if any of these same people are proclaiming texiera to be all the answers to all of our prayers. I can't give an educated opinion on him as all I know about him is from the same famous YouTube. I know that just because he is Brazilian and has a brilliant conversion rate in a league not up to the BPL standard does not mean he is worth breaking the bank and FFP rules over. I'm not saying that I wouldn't like him to join but unlike Suarez, messi etc. but I can't just say "pay the asking price as he's defenitely worth it" Anyhow it's easy to ramble off all these figures-£38M etc. when it's not our own money. I have to have a think before I spend €100 never mind £38M. Hindsight is 20/ 20 vision.

16.) 27 Jan 2016 22:48:56
The problem with not paying a little over the odds is the competition in the summer if he is available at a lower price; highly unlikely if you ask me. There are other players available but the guy can be unplayable (albeit at a lower standard) and it may help convince Coutinho to wait for a move.

17.) 27 Jan 2016 22:56:48
I don't think there are plenty of fish in the sea, every PL team struggled to sign strikers last summer - we possibly ended up paying over the odds for Benteke as a result.

I don't think there's any question of Teixeira's quality, whether he's Brazilian or Ukrainian or Australian doesn't come into it.

Naive some of these posts may be - admittedly mine also, but I think that given what class players are going for, and that he wants to move, and that the club may (MAY) have bigger pockets than we realise, I think that he would be a good addition to the team.

18.) 27 Jan 2016 23:09:21
Transfer policy has been joke for many years
All this buying mediocre players has to stop

Policy should be 1-2 players each year that are genuine talents and will actually make a difference and improve the first team (not squad)

£25m of Moreno and Clyne are they really better than flannagan and smith?

If the spine of the team is strong you can afford to throw in 1-2 youngsters

In the past it seems the transfer committee have bought players just for the sake of it or simply to justify their existence or just use up the money because it was made available

Bonkers really.

19.) 27 Jan 2016 23:48:51
Everyone seems to be a genius after the fact. Balo and Benteke were known to be gambles and the "experts" led by BR either moved heaven and earth to get them or stood around and let it happen. So excuse the owners for being cautious at not wanting to pay 50m€ on an unproven and uncapped player. At that price, he'd better be worth it which I don't think he is. And the idea that if we don't get him now, he'll be off in the summer so we should just pay the fee now, is senseless. If we don't get him now nor in the summer, so what? We move on to other targets that are actually worth the money. Hence, I say end this farce, save our money and focus on living within our means.

20.) 28 Jan 2016 01:34:02
I have no idea if Teixeira is worth £38M or not. I have no idea how he would perform in the PL. What I do know is if it's pretty clear how much a club wants for a player and they're also clearly in no rush to sell, it makes little sense to waste either party's time with bids for 2/ 3 that amount.

21.) 28 Jan 2016 01:55:09
Should have flogged Benteke and brought in Teixeira. Longer we hold onto a player that doesn't suit our style of play, the more useless he appears to be and the less he'll be worth come summer. Teixeira is definitely worth 6M more than Benteke to our club. we just don't have the cash because it was all spent on a tall lazy striker last summer. By summer, the vultures will be circling above head and we'll lose out to a higher bid from United/ City/ Barca/ Chelsea. Happening far too often lately.

22.) 27 Jan 2016 23:34:44
If Ed002 is about, can I ask a probably simple question about the FFP? If we bought a player like Teixeira now for the £38m and paid in instalments, does the full amount go in this accounting period or when the instalments are made?

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with the installments - it is to do with (a) when the player is registered (the date); (b) how the club account for the costs of a player (e.g. in one go at the start or across the length of a contract).}

23.) 28 Jan 2016 11:11:01
Thanks Ed.

24.) 28 Jan 2016 19:07:45
I think my final comment on this is you don't get points for losing games, you do for a draw or a win. Our defence really needs to be sorted out and despite some excellent work at times Migs is volatile.
Stop goals going in and you you are already registering points.
Oh and please don't get me wrong, I would welcome Texeira with open arms as looks a quality player. I just don't want our club with FFP sanctions when we have only just got a world class manager.

08 Jul 2015 02:54:41
Is benteke the only target ATM eds? Or is there anyone else? I read lacazette contract talks have stalled do u think he will
Move on! Thanks

general

{Ed001's Note - it is currently about Benteke, we are not in the running for Lacazette. Personally I expect him to stay put this summer due to the forthcoming Euros.}

1.) 08 Jul 2015 07:28:24
Strange we got close to 30 mill to spend on a striker and the only target is Benteke.

2.) 08 Jul 2015 08:46:00
Reading Lacazette contract talks broken down and he is going to put in a transfer request.

Not saying we are in for him, and this is from an on-line newspaper, so make of it what you will!!

3.) 08 Jul 2015 10:15:19
Are you suggesting that online papers are any less rteliable than the regular paper ones? Surely not

{Ed002's Note - The situation with Lacazette has changed and Lyon will listen to offers and he might move. Right now they have spoken with three clubs about the player. This is nothing to do with Liverpool.}

4.) 08 Jul 2015 10:30:10
I am suggesting nothing, only what i have read.

That he has not signed a new deal put in front of him and speculation is rife he will hand in a transfer request which suggest's he is open to a move away from his current club.

Liverpool have scouted him.

Whether or not a bid materialize's for the player from us is another thing.

{Ed002's Note - Aulis has made the situation clear regarding Liverpool.}

5.) 08 Jul 2015 12:34:02
Great, our own Darren Bent

05 Jul 2015 19:33:39
benteke buy out clause will be met Liverpool will try to push the deal threw by Friday

general

1.) 05 Jul 2015 20:17:22
Believe it when it happens!

23 Jun 2015 06:30:23
a tabloid is reporting that firmino has agreed a deal with Liverpool don't no how reliable they are but they are saying a deal
Worth around 17 mil has been struck hopefully true !

general

1.) 23 Jun 2015 07:22:32
Heard this on the radio before if true what a signing!

2.) 23 Jun 2015 08:35:15
Sky Sports Brazilian correspondent says its likely we will sign Firmino. Would be good if its true but i'm not getting my hopes up until he signs.

3.) 23 Jun 2015 08:40:50
I saw this too but it said the source was globoesport so I thought so I'll have to wait to see what eds says, as to whether things have changed

4.) 23 Jun 2015 14:53:54
he 's not that great a player lads

5.) 23 Jun 2015 16:38:37
He's playing in the starting 11 and scoring for Brazil. Second most assists in the bundesliga last two seasons. He will be a superb signing!

14 Apr 2015 18:44:16
Zlatan rumors doing the rounds do u think he wil leave psg Ed's ?

general

{Ed002's Note - Paris Saint-Germain would be more than pleased to sell Zlatan Ibrahimovic and get his vast wages off the books.}

1.) 15 Apr 2015 08:58:50
Zlatan ticks a lot of boxes for us. Great at picking up long balls, holds up the play better than anyone, has 2 fierce feet, amazing penalty taker, superb free kick taker and most importantly he's a leader. These abilities combined with a more mobile, dynamic striking partner such as Sturridge/Vietto/Ings/Origi would destroy EPL defences.

I'm a swede and I can tell you liverpool would have 10 million new fans on the day of signing.

2.) 15 Apr 2015 17:07:27
He is one of the most over rated footballers ever. he's lazy with a big ego, remind you of anyone we currently have on a huge wage at the club?

3.) 16 Apr 2015 07:23:52
Tell me how is he over rated? He has won 24 titles. he's been the leader of almost all teams. Won serie a with 3 clubs. Best penalty taker there is. And he's bigger then ricky and more technical gifted then all players in LFC. When stevie leaves we lack leaders and we lack a goalacorer. I would welcome it but its not a realistic option do.

4.) 17 Apr 2015 13:54:53
Overrated? Lol. The difference between Zlatan and Balotelli is that Zlatan only have to run back after putting the ball in the back of the net.

He singlehandedly toyed with the entire English national team and scored 4 goals in the process, finished of by a lovely 20m bicycle kick. 104 goals in 122 games for PSG. Definitely overrated.

with lalana saying we have a plan for the gunners on monday i hope he is right, to many times we have gone there and been naive and not got a result hoping to put an end to the bad results at the emirates n contine our good start YNWA

1.) 20 Aug 2015 15:29:14
On another noe, He might start yet again and someone is getting dropped. Should be Firmino.

2.) 20 Aug 2015 15:40:41
What he means by we have a plan is, nothing has been said and Rodgers will play exactly like we are playing any body else and we will lose!

3.) 20 Aug 2015 16:17:20
I have a funny feeling we're going to beat Arsenal. No particular thought process just a pure hunch

4.) 20 Aug 2015 19:26:31
Frimino never started to get dropped. But hey, it's the wonderful weird world of Harry right?

Lallana should focus on coming up with a plan to improve his performance before Firmino takes his place.

5.) 20 Aug 2015 20:15:01
Lets hope the plan is not to play Lallana

01 Jul 2015 20:48:38
Heard a rumour that we had William carvalho watched do u think he will move this window eds ? Personally think he's massively overpriced

general

{Ed002's Note - There is a very good chance he will move this window.}

1.) 01 Jul 2015 21:11:39
He's an absolute beast

2.) 01 Jul 2015 21:24:23
Not to us though ed. Were stacked in that department.

3.) 01 Jul 2015 21:42:06
Most players seem overpriced now. But he has the potential to be an absolutely wonderful player. Ran the show in most of the U21 games for Portugal. Shame about the penalty miss though.

4.) 01 Jul 2015 21:43:11
Is he an option if we can't fix the Kovacic negotiations?

{Ed002's Note - I rather suspect he is heading elsewhere.}

5.) 01 Jul 2015 21:44:44
A quality dm who is needed rather than benteke

6.) 01 Jul 2015 21:56:04
Interest in Kovacic shows we may add another midfielder. Doubt we'll get Carvalho but it's nothing to do with having too many centre mids. If anything, a proper holding midfielder is probably the second biggest weakness in the squad if Lucas were to leave.

7.) 01 Jul 2015 21:57:32
Carvalho is immense. I would not be surprised if he ends up playing at one of the world's top ten clubs this summer. I mean, we'd all have a fit if he landed here, but the odds (and the pounds he would cost) are astronomical.

8.) 01 Jul 2015 22:43:39
Of coarse he is going elsewhere . 😩

9.) 01 Jul 2015 23:07:40
I will retract what I previously posted because I have no interest in him joining as we have Pedro Chirivella.

10.) 02 Jul 2015 07:42:00
Price is crazy high and I suspect he'd want CL football meaning we are well and truly out of the running (I do remember ed002 saying that he could be an option IF we made CL). I wouldn't be surprised if Arsenal made a move for him - he'd give them something they don't really have in abundance which is a physical presence to match their flair. City could afford him but have a glut of similar players in their side. United could potentially sign him I suppose but it would leave Blind in a bit of a quandary. Arsenal makes the most sense to me and fit the necessary criteria (can afford him, have CL, lot of ambition, etc) - time will tell I guess.

18 Jun 2015 13:55:15
eds do u think city will come back with an approved offer or do u think that will be it now with the 40 million bid being rejected?

general

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

1.) 18 Jun 2015 21:38:57
you bet City will come back with a improved bid of about 45 million , which we will agree to , as that money , or most of it , will be used to buy 2/3 players .

15 Jun 2015 18:49:55
Firmino moving to the prem is it nailed on United ? Or are others in for him too ?

general

{Ed002's Note - Try the European pages.}
