Both naby and vvd have been told to train alone today are we about to hit the mother load? And as for lil Phil what the hell where Barcelona thinking low balling like that?

have they been taking the how not to do transfers course what Liverpool run? Does anyone else think that Barcelona knew we didn't have the funds to get naby and vvd and flung a low ball offer in to see if we would bite?

I'd love to think we are going to sign the big two. But coutinio talk (and massive tooth ache) has got me down. Earlier I said liverpool under klopp is not a selling club. I really really hope that is true. Let's be brutally honest though, in last 5/ 10 years we have made a habit of selling out best assets. Torres, alonso and mascherano. Sterling agger and suarez. For w/ e reason they were all the best we had in their positions. I will be GUTTED if we sell coutinio but I'd have to be an idiot to be surprised.

2.) 21 Jul 2017 21:50:39
Hi Ed002. So basically what you're saying is Southampton have a price which is in the region of 70 milion or more. He wants us we want him cough up and don't take the piss with them and they will play ball of sorts? Have I read that right?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware I have even commented on this thread. I am not aware of saying anything like that.}

3.) 21 Jul 2017 22:17:20
I think we will sign both and retain Coutinho for one more season, at least. He won't go, especially after signing that new deal; no clause.

4.) 21 Jul 2017 22:34:45
GiantKey would love you to be right but generally once Barcelona come calling it's curtains.

5.) 21 Jul 2017 23:05:21
Giantkey signing new contracts doesn't mean anything anymore, Virgil not long ago signed a huge 6 year deal iirc? Contracts are worthless nowadays (RBL seem to be the only club who think contracts are worth something which they should be)

6.) 21 Jul 2017 23:29:01
Suarez went for less than Barcelona just bid (granted different circumstances but still) so we can't say it's a low bid. I would think Phillipe is worth 85 million pounds and we would accept a bid that high if it was offered. Still praying Phil stays through the year aND we get our targets. we are as close as we have been since suarez/ Gerrard and there is no doubt in my mind our squad is better than theirs.

7.) 22 Jul 2017 00:21:58
I hope we can keep him. I hope he stays for good. If he gives us this season and we pull off something special who knows. I have to say I've always been a bit baffled by kieta becoming our top priority when we could do with a natural striker and cb. The reason is because Phil is off. I hope I'm wrong.

8.) 22 Jul 2017 01:01:05
In my opinion players are often incentified/ bunged a few quid to agree new contracts to enhance there value. Im sure if Emre agrees a new contract he will be sold next year. Contracts mean sqwat. Coutz gone next year.

9.) 22 Jul 2017 08:24:58
We will get 1 more season. Take our time over the deal let his price rise with a good showing in the CL and WC and give us time to scout the right replacement.

10.) 22 Jul 2017 12:13:04
Ed02 said that some months ago, Barcelona were told by LFC to cough up 100m euros and then they can start talking regarding Phil. If we were not willing to sell at any price, that is the dumbest negotiation tactic I've ever heard of and why we would do that, I have no idea. Barcelona were just testing the waters and will surely be back with a fee approaching that 100m euros and then, let the games begin.

Regardless of that tho, I still feel that Couts leaving LFC should be a non starter and we should do all we can to keep him cos we cannot say on one hand, we wanna compete for PL and CL yet we sell our best player. That is the wrongest message to send to our fans. Couts is staying at all costs, should be the mantra going forward.

11.) 22 Jul 2017 12:54:41
If Phil wants to go then good luck to him. He has been brilliant for us when it looked like we would struggle without Gerrard. He never moans, never gets big headed about things. If he feels this is what he wants to take his career on then who are we to give him a hard time.

Let's not forget though, it's all hearsay so far. "This player said this, this player said that" he could yet stay at Liverpool for another five years. He is always going to be good enough to play for barca. I hope jurgen helps him see how important he is in this project.

12.) 22 Jul 2017 13:13:22
We don't need to buy another striker. I think Dan the man will step up this season with a full pre season under his belt (fingers crossed) and why would Klopp want to sign a contract extension if he new the club were the type to sell on our best players. he has said himself that none if our best players will be sold anymore and that the club will be looking to ADD quality and not sell it. were moving forward now thanks be to god. YNWA.

13.) 22 Jul 2017 14:01:23
B Scouse, it was PSG not Barca, and this was before we seen how inflated this market has been. LFC will no doubtably raise the price A LOT more now.

14.) 22 Jul 2017 14:16:56
United fan here coming in peace lol, with regards to coutinho I genuinely believe if you can get a good fee for him 80 million ish you would have a better side if it was reinvested wisely don't get me wrong he is a top top player but he doesn't seem to drag you to results the way suarez used to, you have firmino salah mane and lallana as well as sturridge origi solanke. You may all disagree with me i mean im sure you watch them a lot more than i do just my honest opinion.

15.) 22 Jul 2017 14:28:33
Imo I think couts will be here thus season. world cup at end of season which he will be a major player at.
1. Off will get more if he stars in it. 2. If he wants to be the star player he is better staying at club where he is the main man. exactly why neymar wants out at Barca. Just my opinion.

16.) 22 Jul 2017 15:30:22
Barca about to get €222 mil for Neymar. if we don't hold Barcelona randsom the way other leagues do the prem clubs I'll be very disappointed. love Coutinho, but he's not exactly Suarez (I know different t position) but Suarez was more than a game winner he's a league winner, coutinho is not. if we can get close to £100 mil if take it.

17.) 22 Jul 2017 16:11:22
I think redphil wrote that before today's game to be fair, in that roll he looks electric, if keita played along side just wow! Haha, , let's just keep Phil.

18.) 22 Jul 2017 16:21:01
Where have you read that Keita is training alone too?

19.) 22 Jul 2017 19:15:43
We don't need anything more than a top CB now IMO - Keita is a bonus but not at the expense of losing Coutinho or even Can IMO.

20.) 22 Jul 2017 22:25:44
If any of the EDDS r around,
Any news on the reports doing the rounds that KEITA fee agreed 74.5M.

{Ed007's Note - They're all seemingly coming from RedAllOverButNotSore's mate, ask him.}

21.) 22 Jul 2017 22:13:01
Everyone is offended that Barcelona low balled us on Coutinho, but have no problem when we do it to other teams.

22.) 23 Jul 2017 00:02:21
We had a done deal for Navy Keith a few weeks ago.

23.) 23 Jul 2017 08:10:05
DanH, it does not matter how much we get for him. If we want to compete in the PL and CL, we have to keep our best players. Those are the facts. I don't care how much we get for him cos we will never be able to get the type of influence he has over the team creatively by any replacement in the short term. We already tried that with the Suarez and Torres money for the disastrous results we know of. Hence, that should never happen again.

Couts will leave us soon enough but it should be on our terms and if he wants to leave. He has never said so publicly even tho of course, he is open to the move. We should keep him as long as we can and when we sell, we should take our time in knowing how to get his replacement (s) and the best way reinvest the large fee we will get for him.

24.) 23 Jul 2017 10:00:43
And various Fleet Street rags have the same story. I'll believe it when it happens until then, can't be arsed reading anymore about it - done to death (to quote the Eds)

Just like to wish xabi all the best after he retires he should never have left and I hope he get some sort of role at Liverpool even an embassador met him once and one of the most down to earth blokes you will ever meet good luck in whatever comes next

jamesy1989 YNWA

1.) 19 Jan 2017 06:33:36
one of the greatest players ever to have played for Liverpool fc, easily one of rafa's best signings, he made everbody around him better players and that includes gerrard, to have tried to replace him with gareth barry was sheer lunacy, my favourite memory, THAT goal vs Newcastle and how he quickly reacted to his penalty being saved in instanbul, he then went on to play for real Madrid and of course Bayern munich, which shows how much quality the man has, one of the true greats on and off the pitch. YNWA XABI ALONSO.

2.) 19 Jan 2017 22:19:10
What muppet gave that a thumbs down he truly was a Liverpool legend

20 Jan 2014 12:01:28
I know it's not Liverpool related ed but what do you think of John guidetti I heard he is a great prospect and done really well in the Dutch league but obviously getting snubbed at city because of there strike force

jamesy1989 YNWA

{Ed002's Note - He will move on in the summer.}

Hoffenhiem in the draw away first leg tasty could have been worse could of been better but I think we can nick a goal away and get a early goal at home and put it to bed.

jamesy1989 YNWA

1.) 04 Aug 2017 11:38:17
We'll smash them in the first leg 😎.

2.) 04 Aug 2017 11:42:04
Looking at the draw, arguably the 4 strongest teams have been drawn together! . I would think Hoffenheim are more gutted than us!

3.) 04 Aug 2017 11:50:55
The team I didn't want! Could be a tricky one, can easily beat us if we aren't up for it or ready!

4.) 04 Aug 2017 11:52:07
We'll know exactly what needs to be done when they come to Anfield. No concerns. I would expect Mane, Salah, Firmino and Coutinho to put this one to bed in Germany though.

5.) 04 Aug 2017 12:38:00
I prefer been at home second leg hopefully they will come out guns blazing and be hit on the counter only have to look at what Bayern done and what happens to them.

6.) 04 Aug 2017 12:57:08
"hopefully they come out guns blazing" errrrr have you seen them play. its the worst team we could've faced. a defensive side that every team struggled to break down last season. What is it that our team struggles with again? Shouldn't have a problem if we are the great team we all think we are but can't see this being goals galore at all.

7.) 04 Aug 2017 13:09:31
jamesy, they will only come out guns blazing, if they are behind from the first leg. If not it will be 11 behind the ball, and we all know how useless we are when that happens.

02 Aug 2017 10:28:43
Does anyone else think Ryan Kent can fill in the winger position if Salah or mane injured? The way he skinned that defender and put it on a plate for Marko was unbelievable I personally would have him before ojo.

jamesy1989 YNWA

1.) 02 Aug 2017 10:40:32
I am shocked he's never been given more of a chance, I've been impressed with him every time I've seen him play, always looks confident on the ball and looks to make things happen.

2.) 02 Aug 2017 10:44:32
I hope he gets some game time. Cup runs and the last 20 mins or so when teams are tired.

Woodburn played a nice pass into Sturridge as well last night.

3.) 02 Aug 2017 10:54:00
2 years ago when he was killing it in the academy he was seen as one of the biggest prospects at the club. He played in a 3 man attack with Wilson and Ojo.

For some reason he got chucked out on loan for a couple of seasons. He looks to have come back a better player than Ojo or Wilson though. He just looks so well balanced, makes great decisions, and can hit a pass or shot so crisp. I've personally been very impressed. He looked good in the Championship, but surrounded by better players, he looks even better.

{Ed001's Note - workrate issues were the problem MKS. He would fade out of games a lot because he would not work as hard as others.}

4.) 02 Aug 2017 10:56:35
If he doesn't get game time here he will move on and that will be a big mistake! The lads well worth the hype.

5.) 02 Aug 2017 11:05:36
Kent looks the business to me, if he ever gets a decent run of games he'll start skinning people for fun. His determination to beat his man and his skill set will eventually start to click imo, i just hope it's in a Liverpool shirt.

6.) 02 Aug 2017 11:15:37
Reminds me of a old school winger likes to get the byline and if it isn't possible coming in and having a pop I would personally rather him stay here than go on loan he could learn a lot from our two starters and progress him further than going back down to the championship.

7.) 02 Aug 2017 11:21:35
I'm sure Klopp sees his ability. 🤔
If he doesn't make it then there must be other issues as Ed suggested. He is a raw talent which hopefully Klopp can turn into a consistent top quality player.

8.) 02 Aug 2017 11:38:18
Thanks for the insight Ed001. I never understood why the club almost gave up on him. Work rate certainly hasn't been an issue this pre-season though.

Perhaps being surplus gave him a kick up the you know what.

{Ed001's Note - it certainly seems to have worked.}

9.) 02 Aug 2017 11:44:39
He's certainly got quick feet. Left the right back for dead yesterday and in one of the games in HK. I know only pre season but he's shown glimpses of ability at least.

10.) 02 Aug 2017 11:50:55
Kent is direct and exactly what we need from an impact sub (his most likely role next season) . Will run tired out defenders even more ragged and help kill games off. Good young player that Klopp should be able to develop into a valuable squad member.

11.) 02 Aug 2017 11:52:49
He seems perfect to bring on with 1/ 2 hour to go to run at tired full backs! 👍.

12.) 02 Aug 2017 12:18:36
Im a barnsley lad and all my mates are die hard barnsley fans. Season ticket holders etc. I asked them there thoughts on kent. The consensus was they liked him because he was a exciting flair player. They did also go on to say his decision making was rather poor and would go missing rather a lot in games. Also that he tried to do unnecessary tricks skills stepovers in stupid dangerous positions and gave the ball away in these positions which would lead to opponent attacks. Overall though positive about his spell and would have liked him again this season.

25 Jul 2017 19:31:33
Is anyone sick of this sh*ep storm of a window? First VVD looks nailed onto sign then we find LFC are doing it as dodgy as possible, then naby looks certain to become our number one target only for RBL to turn around we won't sell at any price, Then Barcelona come sniffing and waving there nobs about looking for little Phil to fill the gap for a certain someone who has been begging for him to come and join him for the past god knows how many transfer windows and decided he can't be arsed playing second fiddle to the best player in the world, in my eyes neymar isn't fit to lace messi boots, then on top of that it sounds like emre has decided he wants to go to juventus. this window absaloutly blows and i can't wait for it to be September the 1st hoping we still have two of our best players last season at the club with the two targets we where looking for in the first place!

jamesy1989 YNWA

1.) 25 Jul 2017 21:56:17
Fair enough VVD was a shambles. We're also going for Keita, a position many don't see as critical to fill, but would be a great signing. Other clubs interested in Phil, or course they are, so what? Can may leave, not really going to lose any sleep over it, is hit and miss and I think Grujic can step into the role.

You also seem to forget we have signed Salah, seems to have already hit the ground running, Robertson, who I personally believe may prove to be a shrewd piece of business, and Solanke, who knows how brilliant or not so that may turn out to be? Oh, and what date is it?

22 Jul 2017 09:27:22
With reports that neymar is wanting to move to psg does that sway lil Phil to stay and become a hero or slot into the gap that neymar will leave?

jamesy1989 YNWA

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with Neymar.}

1.) 22 Jul 2017 10:22:33
Build the statue quick!

2.) 22 Jul 2017 10:24:49
Ed all I'm suggesting is that neymar and Phil are really close friends and that if neymar leaves will Barcelona still feel as special for Phil without his close friend with him, for me personally I reckon he will stay at Liverpool anyways but I read this morning that they are making a final offer and of he wants the move to Barcelona Phil will have to cause disruption to get the move himself now I understand Liverpool was in the wrong and had secret meetings with the player but how is that any different by going through media.

{Ed002's Note - Maybe they can find someone else to hold his hand? Is he really that much of a childish flake?~

3.) 22 Jul 2017 10:47:52
Flake 😂😂 love it, class.

4.) 22 Jul 2017 11:04:58
He does have a mikey mouse tattoo. Bit flakey if you ask me.

5.) 22 Jul 2017 11:23:49
Its common practice for slim tanned Brazilian boys to oil each other up on the golden sand beaches of Brazil, while dancing round in speedo branded pink thongs sipping on coctails and munching on big fat pieces of melons.

What are you lot trying to suggest?

Its a culture for them and i see nothing wrong with it.

You have serious issues.

6.) 22 Jul 2017 11:33:23
So if Coutinho has been influenced to move by Neymar he's cast as a childish flake yet VVD and Keita can be immorally 'unsettled' by discussions that their paid agents and representatives were complicit in with full knowledge, we presume, that their players were not authorised to discuss terms with other clubs.
I am not claiming that Liverpool have done nothing wrong, we clearly need to clean up our act. Issues here predate Klopp. I am, however, incredulous that the agents and players involved are not seen to be complicit by many posters on here.
As for Coutinho, we have seen, at Stoke, his committment to the club. His actions speak far louder than any words.

{Ed002's Note - Christ you really are a moron. The statement about Coutinho was in relation to him needing a little friend at Barcedlona and someone to hold his hand. A friend that Coutinho took matters in his own hands to ask him to speak with Barcelona after he had spoken with International team mates. You are dribbling right now and you should move on and stop looking for pitiful excuses.}

7.) 22 Jul 2017 11:54:50
I don't need to back up my arguments with ad hominem insults.

{Ed002's Note - There is no argument - it is simple. You didn't understand the words or you twisted the words. You posts are pitiful rubbish that we don't need.}

8.) 22 Jul 2017 16:19:38
Have a day off andyM gheez.

21 Jul 2017 18:28:56
I just watched the Robertson interview and he sounds like a stand up bloke who wants to push himself and is eager to kick on let's hope he can and pushes the team forward I know it's not the signing we have been looking forward to this week you all know who but welcome to Liverpool kidda most players we have had from Scotland have done decent so welcome to Liverpool kid let's turn the doubters of the signing into believers YNWA.

Actually shanek his dream to play for real Madrid it was done in a newspaper when him and neymar when they where young pal and to be fair if he does anything like he did last year there is no way Barcelona won't come back for him mate they can threaten all they want they will be back, keep him and let's see where we can go before selling our biggest assets.

Now ed no need to be crude calling name's is there, like I said I didn't not condone what klopp done but I do stand by what I said in what is the difference? An agent is a go between and should not be invited to the party until an agreement is made by both clubs, he shouldn't be going behind one clubs back to agree a deal with another that is exactly what klopp done and is getting hung drawn and quartered maybe Barcelona have not met with Phil that we know maybe they have no one knows, but to call me a dumb **** infront of everyone on this site is very unprofessional on your part with very little knowledge about me like I have a bachelor's in mechanical engineering as well as a hnc in electrical engineering and in fabrication and welding so yes maybe my knowledge isn't in finance or law but it does not mean I'm a "dumb ****"

jamesy1989 YNWA

{Ed002's Note - The difference is enormous and repeated attempts to either deliberately play down what Klopp and Liverpool has done is stupid and embarrassing. Other clubs cannot even come close to what Liverpool have done - you want me to remind you about the 12 year old kid and his family that they screwed. The players they have turned against their clubs and their sustained unprofessionable behavior.}

Don't want to sound naive here ed as you said it's the players agent that has stepped over the line but for klopp to meet the player he would have had to go through the agent who would set the meeting up I'm not saying it's right what klopp has done but it swings and roundabouts abouts in my eyes and if one is punishable so should the other.

jamesy1989 YNWA

{Ed002's Note - Jesus, you have to be simple not to by now understand how serious what Liverpool and Klopp have done is.}
