Never posted an old-school rumour before but this is as close as I've ever come to one so thought i'd share with you guys.

I got chatting to a lad down in Bierkeller the other day who said his friend works at Melwood. He said contrary to what you hear from him in the press, Milner is REALLY unhappy about playing left back. One way or another, it looks like this will not be continuing after January regardless of how well he plays there.

He also mentioned Arsenal's interest in Sturridge on deadline day, said that DS 'hates' Klopp, and that they had a bit of a bust up after the game at Burton when he was unhappy about being brought on with no time to do anything (though I assume the lad actually meant the Tottenham game when he came on in the 88th minute. He was an Evertonian himself, so) .

Pretty much nothing we couldn't already have guessed but i thought i'd share anyway. I've extracted a wealth of knowledge from this site over the years so time to give back what I can!

Thanks joe.

A lot can change before Jan, so we'll see how this plays out. If we're 10 points clear at the top that might improve Milner's mood 😃.

2.) 06 Sep 2016 16:05:31
At the end of the day, it looks like Milner will have to lump it. Can't see us spending on a new left back in January (unless Milner has an absolute shocker) and given Milner's wages I can't see anyone being interested in taking him on, so it's a Mexican stand off.

3.) 06 Sep 2016 16:25:57
the situation with sturridge could come to a head in January, especially if he keeps getting overlooked in the strikers role, milner will be nothing but professional about his situation.

4.) 06 Sep 2016 18:06:38
Been told the Sturridge to Arsenal rumour on deadline day is rubbish. Certainly from our perspective anyway.

5.) 06 Sep 2016 22:49:34
i like milner and we do miss his crosses and passes when he is in midfield, and would we really miss sturridge if he is going to be injured all the time any way, not since suarez was with us have we had more than 10 games from sturridge, i understand he is unhappy but as far as i cam make out some of his injuries are in his head or he won't play if he does not feel a 100% even though the doctors have said he is fit, i would sell sturridge because we would get a very good price for him and also he is injured too much i would love another player like suarez whos attitude was he just wanted to play all the time he did not worry if he had a little niggle and he gave his all and never held anything back were as i think sturridge won't sprint or run like he used to do maybe he has been told not to sprint to much or run too much

its a pity we never got a quality or decent left back in the transfer window then instead of having a few players un happy we would on have moreno unhappy.

6.) 06 Sep 2016 23:23:16
Sell Sturridge. Get Suarez. I like it! Maybe a few technical issues, safly.

7.) 07 Sep 2016 01:10:30
Yeah Shanks, my personal opinion based on what i've read on here was that Liverpool were never interested in the Sturridge deal. I hope our relationship with him is not irreparable.

I get what you're saying mbrock but i for one would like to see if he can play his way back to the pace and form he had that season before looking to sell. Especially to a rival. Even now when he's not burning past defenders like he used to he scores goals at a ridiculous rate. We won't buy better.

Sturridge isn't Suarez, but he is Sturridge, which isn't bad either. On form he walks into any premier league team. You can't get another Suarez, but i think we have looked to bring in players with the same energetic attitude to surround DS.

8.) 07 Sep 2016 03:23:01
If Studge wants to leave because he can't put on his big boy pants and get on with it, then he can leave, quite frankly. He's 27 already and obviously needs to grow up and get stuck in. He's a very good player and to me, the best natural finisher in the PL, hands down. However, Klopp doesn't care about any of that as clearly, Studge either isn't ready or his body won't allow him to do what Klopp asks Firmino and Origi to do as in, press the defence and harry them. If either of these is the case then he has a decision to make.

9.) 07 Sep 2016 16:48:29
this rumour is why we all like this site. true or not interesting read lol.

10.) 08 Sep 2016 18:28:36
think this season will make or break Sturridge, if he is not getting enough game time, if he is not scoring enough goals, if his work rate doesn't improve, then I can see him moving on, to a London club maybe . just hope things change for the better, because when he is scoring, he is one of the best .

11.) 09 Sep 2016 13:21:50
This type of rumour is why i started visiting this site. unfortunatley they ars few + far between nowadays. Just supposed "reds" who wanna slag EVERYTHING LFC related off each + every day. let's get back to Ken Aguero in the Maccies. my mates dads son sat next to Messi on the X2 going to Melwood etc etc 🙂.

When he does play for us again, i hope people will remember the summer when Suarez tried and failed to push through his transfer.

I saw him in a friendly at the end of that Summer where Anfield stayed fully behind him, sang his name and cheered him back onto the pitch. We all know what kind of season he went on to have.

Lot of anger on here but booing and shunning coutinho will help nobody.

Mourinho has every right to play to shut down games, prevent the opposition from winning, and leave with a point. He's been doing it for the big away games his whole career and at the end of the season they're often valuable points.

However, i think its very sad for united fans, for us, and for football fans everywhere that he considers this game to be just another away game against a tough opponent.

Liverpool Man United. My favourite game of the year. Means so much to all the fans to get the feel good factor of winning, even scoring, and he's taken that away from both sets.

Only one 0-0 in the premier league before this. Get used to it over the next few years though.

1.) 21 Oct 2016 16:13:20
Mate, it's got nothing to do with mou that we were awful. We were absolutely dire, Man United didn't defend well or do anything amazing we were just on an off day. Bet Chelsea beat them.

2.) 21 Oct 2016 16:42:32
I`m not bothered about how they line up especially in their position where at some point, parking the bus won`t work as they will need points. If Mou wants to buy expensive players ONLY to play like Tony Pulis then he deserves the jokes coming his way. They are now one win in five and if they draw vs Chelsea and we win, they will be further behind so in the end, they do what is "best" for them. It was up to us to play our game and we didn`t especially in the first half which Klopp astutely, manned up and said in his post match comments. We have to get back to starting games fast and setting the tone early because playing incomplete games will not cut it. This must start from tmrw vs the Baggies who will be difficult to beat.

3.) 21 Oct 2016 17:15:44
Jose won the title some 18 months ago playing pretty much the same with Hazard and Co.
nothing matters if you win the league title. Absolutely Nothing.

4.) 21 Oct 2016 17:41:28
We weren't at our best, agreed. But this could be expected with the changes we had to make in midfield. I think we really missed Lallana and Wijnaldum turning towards goal with their first touch. Time after time Can's first instict was to turn back away from his marker and then look up, and it gave them the chance to recover before we could break. Not his fault, he's been out a long time and it's a relatively new role for him, but shows where he needs to improve.

5.) 21 Oct 2016 19:04:38
Harry, that might be true but many have admitted that the season Chelsea won was a poor all round season in the PL, period. Not taking anything away from him but that is a fact. The issue now is that teams have improved massively including us, so if he wants to park the bus on the road vs the top six teams, he will either not win a lot of games and will definitely drop a lot more points. Like I said, if he wants to play like that, that`s his problem and he deserves the jokes he gets, period. I will also say that we have seen what Jose looks like when he does play open football, it`s called Watford and City. I would park the bus myself if I was getting smashed by those teams, myself. Just saying.

6.) 21 Oct 2016 19:13:46
Thing is, you don't need to be very good to do what manU did. It is very effective and ummmmmmmmm we had our own slightly less drab version of it under rafa.
Anyways its football ye? I think we just have to get better at breaking down that bloody bus.

7.) 21 Oct 2016 21:04:17
LOL Y is Pulis and other Parking bus mangers not winning the title if it was so easy.
One of our most successful manger Rafa parked the bus day long, Diego Simeoni is a master in parking the bus. Who on earth doesn't park it when it need.
All those one point jose earns against the big team away from home will add up while all those two points dropped at home will come back and bite us.

And Y do people think we will smash them at OT?

8.) 22 Oct 2016 10:30:01
So ye think ye will win the league with that defence and keeper.

9.) 22 Oct 2016 16:51:47
We've got to stop this, blaming the other team for playing 'the wrong way' when don't get the result we want is pure deflection. We're upset because we didn't beat them and that's fine but we didn't beat them because we weren't good enough to beat them, it's our fault not their's.

10.) 27 Oct 2016 00:45:13
exactly what my post was saying, mate.

25 Sep 2016 19:26:59
James Milner has always been a full back hasn't he?!

Unbelievable that we've only just realised.

joe liverpool

1.) 25 Sep 2016 19:37:50
I was worried when Klopp decided to go with him at LB. Milner seems to be the type of player like Kuyt, will run through a brick wall followed by another brick wall and still keep on running.

Have not heard one word from Milner pissing and moaning. Hats off him. He is doing a fantastic job and leading by example.

2.) 25 Sep 2016 20:59:38
I run a under12s jfc team wish i had 7 james milners!

3.) 25 Sep 2016 21:32:38
Yep. Seven Milners is just the right amount. 8 would unbalance the side.

4.) 25 Sep 2016 21:54:46
A bit unfair to have 1 adult on your team but 7 would surely raise a few eyebrows.

5.) 25 Sep 2016 22:45:25
Yep would raise a few eyebrows, especially if they're all identical.

6.) 26 Sep 2016 04:56:23
Would make printing of uniforms a lot easier.

15 Aug 2016 01:53:15
Has Klopp signed Wijnaldum so that there is less pressure on Hendo to get forward?

I'm beginning to wonder if Klopp sees the future Hendo in a little deeper position. He did a very important job in the middle for us today; without directly being involved in any of the goals he had a good performance.

joe liverpool

1.) 15 Aug 2016 03:35:46
I think he signed Wijnaldum for a multitude of reasons. He is versatile, energetic, chips in with goals, etc. He was used vs Arsenal as the OP described but i doubt he was just bought to allow Hendo to sit deep. I can see Wijnaldum used in different areas depending on who we play and which other players get picked.

2.) 15 Aug 2016 03:39:50
It played out that way today as Wijnaldum created 2 of the goals today, had a good second half and his workrate was excellent also in the 2nd half, hendo was very composed for most of the game in my opinion, it would be intersting to see how Wijnaldum and stewart would work together for a full 90mins at some stage this season.

3.) 15 Aug 2016 03:52:36
Possibly, but mainly just to provide a goal outlet from midfield.

What happened in the first half vindicated what Klopp wanted to do. He wanted to leave Hendo in the holding role, and he wanted a midfield partner that would bomb forward with a goal threat, to take advantage of the weak Arsenal defence. He won't do that every game, in some other games he will start Can to shore up the midfield more. Hendo was defensively sound, but it was hard for him to cover everything with Wijnaldum partnering him.

4.) 15 Aug 2016 04:16:58
Honestly thought Henderson was much better when he moved a bit further forward and Can was playing the deeper of the two.

5.) 15 Aug 2016 04:26:11
i don't think you're going to see hendo play there for every game. stewart and can may play in there in future games depending on our opponent.

17 Jul 2015 14:25:24
where do you guys see Can playing next season?

I am hoping that the signing of Clyne means he'll finally be given a go in defensive midfield, but i'm worried that we'll continue to see him as a RCB in either a 4 or 3 at the back.

If that's the case, who is going to be the shield for the defence? I can't help but feel that anything close to 32.5m on a DM would be one of the first names on the team sheet.

Spendin it on a striker. When our squad is 100% fit, does Benteke even make it in?

joe liverpool

1.) 17 Jul 2015 14:42:16
Not sure where Can will play, but I am sure it won't be RB whilst Clyne is fit.

2.) 17 Jul 2015 14:52:15
Finally some sense. We need a DM and we will buy next summer once we conced 50 this season and put the blame on Skrtel dropping deep.

3.) 17 Jul 2015 16:32:30
When luca's is fit we have a great DM and a diamond would suit with lucas at the base. When lucas is free it would make sense to switch to a 4231 with can and Henderson as the 2. Neither are as disciplined as lucas and therefore 2 players would be better here when luca's isn't fit. Benteke will prove a very good signing.

4.) 17 Jul 2015 16:56:39
Hendo

If neither are disciplined who would break up the play?

5.) 17 Jul 2015 19:13:25
Can will be on the bench I would imagine or rotated with Milner?

I can understand frustration at a lack of back-up options for VVD, but remember - the club has bought a lot of 'decent' CBs for significant investment over the years. Sakho and Lovren both came with great reputations and a £20+M price tag.

Clearly the club thinks the only way to improve this area now is to get the player they see as the ideal fit, no matter how much it costs. Why should they spend on another 'decent' back-up option at CB for what would probably be a minimum of £40M, wasting the money they have set aside for their prime target and potentially leaving the problem still needing to be addressed again next year.

I'm gutted we can't get VVD this Summer, but don't want to see us spend for the sake of it. Save it and try again in Jan/ next summer.

He has had exceptional performances RA, including one reasonably recently against Barcelona that at least kept them in the tie. Unfortunately over the last few seasons those performances have come fewer and further apart, while his errors have become more frequent and more catastrophic.
At the moment I would be no happier with him in net than mignolet.

So Liverpool fans are fickle because we're not calling for the head of Klopp, a hugely popular manager, after this semi-final defeat?

Not sure what you mean there ed.

Everyone always says this about Sturridge, then he comes back, scores two goals, wins us the game and reminds us all just how good he is.

I literally can't see any harm in keeping him.

In what way are we carrying him? Just because he can't contribute every game. Teams don't carry the rest of their squads that aren't in the starting 11.

Seriously. Chelsea worry me. 8 wins on the bounce, including tricky ties against the champions, Tottenham, Man united and away at rivals Man City.

Those results are at least as good as the ones we have had to spark such optimism about Liverpool winning the league.

I'm not being negative. I think we are the two best sides in the league. And we beat them. I'm looking forward to the battle, but certainly there is no evidence to write Chelsea off.
