Liverpool are looking to sign William Carvalho this summer. He is available and Klopp is looking to sort out a deal.

Liverpool is very keen on Julian Brandt this transfer window. Bayer Leverkusen willing to do business at the right price.

1.) 29 Dec 2016 22:42:26
Great news if this is true.

2.) 29 Dec 2016 23:33:06
Not true.

3.) 29 Dec 2016 23:38:19
What would the right price be?

4.) 30 Dec 2016 02:39:19
K_g is this your info or have you seen/ read it elsewhere? Brandt would be a fantastic signing.

5.) 30 Dec 2016 15:55:09
There are a host of clubs after him. We ll need to act yuck and pay a bit over the tops to land him. Very very good player and would go on to evoke even better.

Although James Pearce is reporting that a fee of £32.5m will be met for Benteke, I understand that the fee is slightly lower.

k_g

1.) 16 Jul 2015 22:00:13
Yes your right. Its 32.4m

2.) 17 Jul 2015 21:06:31
I am told we have met his release fee but it is inactive because we have asked to pay in instalments and not all up front.

Martin Skrtel under consideration for the captain's armband.

k_g

1.) 07 Jul 2015 11:58:00
Please no. He's not the first name on the team sheet - or shouldn't be. I don't think it would be a good move, personally.

Eds - has he even signed a new contract?
Was the offer revised from the previous version?

I'm not saying he is the finished article but let me humbly opine that Hendo should be captain. And Milner vice captain, or possibly Lallana if he can establish himself.

I know there is a breed of Liverpool fan that believes it should only be a Scouser wearing the captain's armband, but Flanno is nowhere near ready for that. Eds - do you know if he is seen as a future leader?

Sorry, lots of questions there amongst lots of opinions.

Rob

{Ed002's Note - The expectation is that he will.}

2.) 07 Jul 2015 13:03:52
Why does Milner or Lallana deserve to be an LFC captain now when people like Lucas, the longest serving LFC player in this squad from this year, is still around?

{Ed002's Note - The captain certainly does not need to be the longest serving player. You ideally want the best leader.}

3.) 07 Jul 2015 13:12:46
Never seen anyone suggest Flanno for captain. Henderson for me with Lucas vice-captain and then Milner next in line would be my choices.

Lallana has enough to worry about to get into the team so no chance for me.

4.) 07 Jul 2015 13:52:08
Exactly Ed2, now Gerrard and Carragher have departed I don't see a huge amount of maturity and leadership besides Hendo, Milner & Lallana.

Milner would possibly be a good choice in my eyes but having just signed it may be too soon, although I might be wrong.

Lucas is again not one of the first names on the team sheet (rightly or wrongly) so it's difficult to see it until or unless he can establish himself.

It's very early days for Flanno, but being a local lad he would be a popular choice one day.

5.) 07 Jul 2015 14:44:04
Sakho if he could get his English well, He is one of the most important and guaranteed starter.

6.) 07 Jul 2015 15:05:39
I didn't realise Skrtel's needlework skills were that good, especially with elastic.

Is he being lined up for the new kits too?

7.) 07 Jul 2015 15:13:30
I like Skrtel always have, he is probably our most intimidating player and he's not afraid to rough up the opposition which i don't see thru so much of our team. Could be worse candidates for the armband. Eds how important is the role in fairness

{Ed001's Note - very important when you have a young team.}

8.) 07 Jul 2015 16:37:08
skrtel won't be the captain,he never seems to speak on the pitch

9.) 07 Jul 2015 17:40:11
And why not, as vocal as Hendo and gives his all.
Go Skerts

10.) 07 Jul 2015 18:06:43
Until the season is under way I don't know we have a first choice between Skrtel, Sakho, & Lovren so I don't see Skrtel can be guaranteed to play & therefore cannot be captain. And that's before you factor the presence of Illori.

As Ed1 says; he has had trouble in his position co-ordinating with anyone other than Agger, so if he is a problem for our defence he can't have much of a future. Unless something changes that - like a new coach/assistant manager maybe - I don't see how he can have much game time guaranteed. He does have redeeming qualities, he knocks in a few goals and is fierce going forward. But as a CB he doesn't seem to know where he is meant to be in front of his own goal & cannot mark the opposition.

I did not expect him to be offered a new contract in all honesty.

It's difficult to see who will be ever present in midfield now as well. Milner has had guarantees of game time - we are led to believe - but I would have thought Hendo having more years ahead of him in the game will see more starts than Milner. He looks to be the anointed one & I struggle to see who else fits the role currently.

Still, a lot will happen between now & 9th of August.

11.) 07 Jul 2015 18:12:26
Sakho for captain? The same guy that jumped in his car and ditched the game when he realized he wasn't starting. I think it was one of the Derby's.

12.) 07 Jul 2015 18:56:04
Skrtel never communicates on the pitch, ever. Not captain material and plenty of other better prospects ahead of him (Henderson being the stand out name).

13.) 07 Jul 2015 18:59:39
Good evening ladies and gents. Not going to get into who should be captain but I do have my doubts about Henderson.
1. That infamous dealing with Balo over a penalty, yes Hendo was selected as penalty taker, at that point Balo was on the bench. As captain knowing Balo's record Hendo should have handed the ball to Balo.
2. With amount of midfielders in the team to date, are we sure Hendo is going to be a permanent starter?
I don't like Skirtyle as a defender but he has the grit a young inexperienced team requires and Brenda likes him.

14.) 07 Jul 2015 19:43:25
Henderson is far more likely to be starting than Skrtel, least if we want our best players starting. Balotelli was wrong in that incident - he should be taking orders from the captain. You'd probably say Hendo bottled it if he just left Balotelli to take it without complaint - damned if you do, damned if you don't!

15.) 07 Jul 2015 22:21:18
Yes Seano he should have especially as they both had 100% records at taking penalties. Balo never missed one and neither Hendo, but Hendo had never taken one. I still believe a captain leads and reads the game on the field as Gerrad did, in my view if Hendo as captain had given the ball to Balo as a proven penalty taker he would have received more respect and proven himself as a captain and not a yes sir no sir man. Don't get me wrong the whole incident was foolish and childish but a captain should know his players and how they react. Maybe Hendo should, have shoved Balo aside and missed the penalty just because Brenda said so? Good captain? Maybe?

16.) 08 Jul 2015 06:23:05
Why are you so sure Hendo would have missed? Take your tongue out of Balotelli's backside for a second - he was petulent, he should have listened to his captain and he should not be doing whatever he wants irrespective of team mates, team orders, etc. I don't like Rodgers but he is the manager - if he designates Henderson as penalty taker then that is who should be taking the penalty. Balotelli has a history or pratting around like he did and it is inexcusable, I don't see how that incident renders Henderson unworthy as captain.

You clearly have a problem with Henderson, I don't know why, but its affecting your judgment: 'are we sure Hendo is going to be a permanent starter?'

17.) 08 Jul 2015 13:17:21
It should be Hendo since Skerts isn't a leader and doesn't communicate. Vice-Captain at best for him, although if he stays he should concentrate on improving his game so any kind of title would be a distraction. Hendo & Lucas have got the personality and loyalty to make a fine Captain + Vice pair.

Shakhtar is looking at a replacement for Teixeira. If and when they manage to sign Danielzinho from Fluminense, then there's a possibility of them letting Teixeira leave.

k_g

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation with Teixeira.}

1.) 29 Jan 2016 11:29:00
Danielzinho plays in Cyprus.

{Ed002's Note - He mean the player that is normally referred to as Daniel. But it is of no consequence regarding Teixeira.}

1.) 27 Jun 2015 21:12:14
Oh well.

Next!

2.) 27 Jun 2015 22:03:56
Bacca to square one Ron!

3.) 27 Jun 2015 22:39:10
Brendan, sorry, Ron, would like Benteke as he is totally clueless

4.) 27 Jun 2015 23:56:25
Could be worse could be from Essex.

5.) 27 Jun 2015 23:06:34
I don't want Benteke.
I think you're being harsh calling Benteke clueless.

6.) 27 Jun 2015 23:36:40
Ron is better looking than Brendan. Although we can't see his gnashers in that pic.

7.) 27 Jun 2015 22:54:53
Haha, nice one boom

8.) 28 Jun 2015 00:12:36
Being from Essex is nothing compared to looking as you do like Hans Moleman

9.) 28 Jun 2015 03:01:55
Yes I'm a fictional character from a tv show. You proved my point.

Carvalho is one of the players Klopp is looking to bring in. There is every possibility it could be him this summer.

The Saudis are investing in New Balance, fine. But what has it got to do with Liverpool? Doesn't New Balance sponsor Seville and Celtic too? Why would liverpool have to play Al Nassr as part of that deal? Nothing is clear cut so far.

It's shocking how lots of people still believe that youngsters will take liverpool to the next level. Often you see comments like we've got ojo, we've got bla bla to step in for more senior players. Absolute tripe. They should be given time to blend in and not expect them to cover for so and so.

Which players have they been looking at Ed002? If it's not possible to mention names, the could you please possibly tell what sort of player positions are they looking at? Cheers.

Absolutely. Lucas gave away the foul which finally led to the goal. Lucas is no world beater as some seems to think on here. He is just an average player and this is why he is not in the starting eleven. This is why klopp is willing to let him leave in the transfer window. He may be a nice guy etc etc and hence the man love from many of u but player wise he is just average.

So you expect mané to play a full season without the need of a rest or having a niggle here and there? Don't u think having another top player in his position will provide added competition for a place in the squad. Don't u think if mané is having an off day, we can bring in a very good plan B to change the game? The youngsters should be given a chance but they cannot be thrown in the deep end straight away. Only time will tell whether they will turn into excellent players.

True as you said a mixture of both would be ideal. Not buying and playing only youths wouldn't do the trick for liverpool. They need to be eased in with the odd 10-20 mins in some games. However, for whatever reason it seems that Klopp is still reluctant to use them. For example, Liverpool leading by 4-1 against stoke and moreno is preferred to one of the youths.

Liverpool had an oppprtunity to 'reboot' after the 90's. Moores should have sold the club to the Arabs when he had the opportunity. They would have invested massively in the club and liverpool would have had the financial power to compete on all fronts with the top clubs in the world.
