Bogdan deal confirmed
#LOL

Couldn't we have signed a number one instead and put Mignolet on the bench?

2.) 12 Jun 2015 10:26:56
Why the lol? Bogdan has been a consistent player for bolton, costs nothing, still young, better than jones! No brainer really!

3.) 12 Jun 2015 12:04:27
Adam, first of all what keeper that's better than Mignolet would come to us? second, if we bought someone better than him, how do we know that mignolet would stay? He could easily leave and we'd be left with the same situation of no good back ups

{Ed001's Note - Begovic?}

4.) 12 Jun 2015 12:23:01
I'll support the lad, but the club has gone for value over quality once again. Mignolet is just not good enough.

5.) 12 Jun 2015 12:25:53
"How do we know that Mignolet would stay?" - Believe me, I would be prepared to take that risk!

6.) 12 Jun 2015 17:11:11
Mignolet was good the back end of last season and decent the year before. He might not be the best in the world but i think we have much bigger problems in the squad to deal with and bogdan is a good back up in my eyes especially getting him on a free

7.) 12 Jun 2015 20:41:31
Any chance of mignolet leaving, more wishful then anything.

8.) 13 Jun 2015 19:58:23
Begovic for Mignolet + 5 million sounds about right

(slight sarcasm)

There are no Liverpool players in the England squad for the U21 Euros.
Surely, we should do be doing better?

kawabanga

1.) 05 Jun 2017 20:27:10
Got players at U20 World Cup. Bigger tournament and younger talent. Been watching it in the mornings it's been really good.

2.) 05 Jun 2017 20:31:32
Chill. Ojo, ejaria and solanke (if you want to count him) are all with the U20's.

3.) 05 Jun 2017 21:16:53
Brewster too?

4.) 05 Jun 2017 22:39:40
Solanke has had a few good games. Ejaria wasn't great today when he came on but did well in the last game I saw him in.

5.) 06 Jun 2017 01:14:46
Crikey, best go out and sign some young potential this summer then if we don't have anyone in the u21s.

Is it just me or does anyone else notice that Ibe's struggles began when he was recalled half way through his loan at Derby last season? I think we should have allowed him to complete his loan spell since he was playing quite well. Recalling him certainly halted his progress imo. Anyway 15m£ is a good deal for us. Onwards and upwards.

Cheers.

1.) 08 Jul 2016 16:09:55
Last season he was fine, that's why we we all got so excited. Your thinly veiled effort to pin Ibe's failure to progress on Rodgers is noted and ignored.

2.) 08 Jul 2016 17:14:12
Muscatred, wow just wow😒😒😒.

3.) 08 Jul 2016 17:19:42
To be fair mustcat, I do think Rodgers is partially responsible.

Not for the loan recall. But for how he used him.

He constantly put Ibe at wing back, and I think it made Ibe more cautious. He stopped running at people because he didn't want to lose the ball without the security of a full back behind him.

I think he has struggled to get out of that frame of mind as he rarely ever runs at people and takes risks now, at least compared to how much he did it in the youth team.

In Rodgers defence, it really benefitted Sterling. He massively improved his defensive contribution by playing at wing back for a while.

Ultimately Ibe was his own worst enemy. He had impeccable attitude and he had great ability, but he just didn't have the confidence to play his natural game here. Perhaps he wanted it too much and the pressure weighed him down. As a Liverpool fan he was probably just so desperate not to make mistakes that he was afraid to take the risks required to be a top forward player.

In some ways, Rodgers and Klopp are at fault there. I've played an equal amount of time under both managers, and it was there job to manage the pressure on him. All we can do is wish him luck in the future. If every young player showed the dedication and humility he does, football would be a better game for it. Not many people know, but Ibe didn't even have an agent for quite some time. He just let his mum and dad manage his career. He doesn't want to suck money out of his clubs and look to get a move every 6 months to fill his bank account. He just wants to play football. I commend him for that.

4.) 08 Jul 2016 17:20:17
Is that you Brenda how's the tan :)

5.) 08 Jul 2016 17:52:49
For God sake, come on. He's what, 20 something. It's not unnatural to be inconsistent at that age. If he's got the right mentality he'll get better over time.
BR by the way was a fairly decent trainer and coach. Pathetic tactician and game changer.

Ibe is still a kid. Wish him luck if he leaves and move on already.

Just watched the Klopp interview.
The best thing about Klopp is that he keeps it real. He doesn't try to hit all the right notes by saying what people expect him or want him to say. I think Rodgers was 'overtrained' in this area, just kept saying the same things over and over again.
Finally, it's time to believe again, stop being doubters!

kawabanga

1.) 09 Oct 2015 13:45:27
I watched it to, I've never watched a fill interview for any player or manager before I must admit. He clearly loves the game and knows the game so well, I like the way he said he met with dietitians and other football people on his off time, the way he mentioned the fans are the most important thing and how he's already going to take English lessons!

2.) 09 Oct 2015 14:03:39
I am just so glad optimism and positive posts are returning to this site , I watched his press conference and I'm delighted we got him , I have to mention that we got a result v Germany last night and lansdowne road was rocking like the old days , if klopp can get anfield going like two years ago or like 05 v chelsea we would be very hard to beat . Remember through good times or bad support your team club or whatever you call it .

3.) 09 Oct 2015 17:39:59
His words just light up your heart. His principles of respect, honour, dignity, sincerity and sense of togetherness just makes me admire him more as a human being than as a manager

Hey Reds,
Reading about Barcelona's interest in Coutinho and Coutinho's supposed preference to move to Barça.
A difficult decision indeed, but I personally would sell simply because we wouldn't need to buy another no.10 as we have Fimino and Lallana and possibly Teixeira.

kawabanga

1.) 06 Oct 2015 09:51:22
Kawabanga, I don't think that's a good idea because Firmino is not settled yet (hopefully he will very soon) and Lallana seems to be a different player compared to coutinho, at the moment Coutinho is one of our best players tho he lacks consistency. We have to learn to keep our star players for us to compete with big teams.
If we continue selling our best players we will always be a rebuilding error

2.) 06 Oct 2015 09:52:15
Another reason is that we may sell Couts is due to needing to recoup money before the summer, especially now we are paying off Brendan's contract on top of everything else.

Also, I think this is where a possible sale of Sturridge may occur! (Subject to interest and a decent bid).

3.) 06 Oct 2015 09:54:11
Hypothetically I would hope Pipco leaves a move to Barca for 2 years,I really can't see him breaking into the team. I can't see him displacing the front 3 of MSN and Iniesta probably has 2 years left and Rakitic is brilliant in the midfield. He won't go into Biscuits position,So there are only 5 places he could play and I can't see him disturbing any of those 5. With Turan also soon to be there.I think it would be a great waste of his youthful talent and would reduce his exposure to learn.

4.) 06 Oct 2015 09:59:57
Ridiculous post! We need to be keeping our best players, there's a reason Barcelona are interested, and it's not because he's best mates with Neymar. What sort of statement would that send to the new manager if we're prepared to lose our best player in his first full season.

5.) 06 Oct 2015 11:17:55
Phil can play a much deeper role than a number 10, he can be a modric style player, I personally prefer him coming from deep. Stick him in centre mid with Henderson and let firmino be the number 10. You just don't sell coutinho, that's the most ridiculous thing I heard

6.) 06 Oct 2015 21:26:50
If that is the case the i hope we utilise lallana, teixeira and firmino more and more so we don't have to spend any money when coutinho leaves. All the answers are already here.

"Give me Lucas Leiva and 10 pieces of sticks, and I will win you the UCL" ~ Me
If we are actually looking to sell a player of Lucas' character and attitude, it is such a shame, especially after convincing him to stay in January. Lucas is a model professional, a player we have massively underappreciated and underrated and would have been one of the best holding midfielders if not for injury. I can only wish him all the best as I think he is fed up with such treatment now.
Eventually though, it may give the likes of Rossiter and Chirivella a much needed chance in the first team so could be a plus.

1.) 11 Aug 2015 22:33:48
assuming we don't purchase a slightly more experienced player ahead of them, as that seems to be the trend.

2.) 11 Aug 2015 22:46:10
I think 70% of liverpool fans don't agree with BR wanting to sell Lucas and I'm one of them, but even so if he won't play him then Lucas has to go really. As for possible replacements I can't see us going for a big price tag player, rather someone who will have a squad role because it would holt Emre Can's momentum in the team. Thiago Motta would be my choice, we wouldn't lose top level experience that way as well. illarramendi would be too much like a Allen/Borini/Lallana signing why buy a player you don't need at a price we don't need to spend to fill that role.

3.) 12 Aug 2015 06:11:54
Haych

I disagree mate. It's the position we should have made the best signing IMO. Such a crucial position in Football. A CDM / DLP is the spine of your team.

4.) 12 Aug 2015 07:18:56
I can't see us replacing him at all. Brenda is so determined to have creative players all over the pith and does not believe we need a dm. Why on earth would he buy another. If he was going to play with an actual dm in the starting 11 then lucas would not be getting sold, he would be happy as he would be playing more regularly. He should be the first name on the team sheet but unfortunately for lfc any type of dm is going to just rot either on the bench or in the reserves until we replace rodgers.

5.) 12 Aug 2015 07:39:43
Johnlfc

He wants a playmaker in that position someone who could defend also. There are very few in europe and that makes not looking at Morgan a bigger joke. If you could convince Frimino, You could have easily convinced Morgan.

Alonso would have been a very good signing.

I wouldn't be disapointed with Robertson tbh, he is decent going foward and can certainly improve. We should learn from missing out on the likes of Cresswell and Ryan Bertrand, who at the time were not up to our quality, but have improved massively since then.

The only criticism I have for Clyne is that he rarely crosses the ball.
I literally can't remember him putting a cross in, he always looks to cut in in the final third. I wonder if it is instructions from the manager, but this happens even when Origi is on.

I've watched Tielemans a couple of times, particularly against Arsenal in the UCL. What a player, what a talent! Still so young but plays with so much maturity. He's energetic, courageous and a very good passer of the ball. He's skilled as well. If there's a player that plays similarly, it is Ilkay Gundogan.
I've never watched Berardi but he's a 'wonderkid', he plays as a winger/striker. I hear Juventus have a buyback clause.

I would pick Ron-Robert Zieler. He's good enough, experienced and at just 26, can make the step up.

I would think it is wise to allow Brooks to remain on loan in the MLS
