Hi eds,

Just wondering what's the update with Lavezzi now? And whether there's still interests in bringing in a goalkeeper for short term? (Judging from what Brendan said it's unlikely but I'd prefer to hear it from you as he sometimes talk rubbish)

Cheers

knightza

knightza

{Ed002's Note - I cannot see that Lavezzi would be added unless someone were to leave. There has been interest in several goalkeepers, but generally that has been in regards of those able to sign a pre-contract for the summer.}

Hi Eds,

Do we have any interests in any keepers? Since Casillas and Cech are basically available, is there any chance we can swoop one of those two up?

Also, do you think Bony would answer the question regarding our forward lines? I am somehow not convinced by our attack after watching the game with City. To me only Sterling did well enough to offer us something different up front and I can see both Sturridge and Lambert being ineffective in many games.

Lastly, do you see Kelly taking Johnson's spot on the right back position? To me he looks way more assuring.

Cheers,

knightza

{Ed001's Note - yes, no, no idea, more likely Flanno.}

1.) Kelly is no better than Johnson .I expect a new signing with Flanno as back up.

11 Jul 2014 07:41:14
Hi Eds, So is there really any interest in Griezmann from us?

Ed001 also said he will ask about Bony . any updates?

Lastly, I really liked Domenico Berardi - do you know if any scouts from Liverpool have been sent to watch him over the last season? I would take him to replace Suarez.

Also, any news regarding Kelly and Enrique fitness? As well as whether Rossiter will feature during the pre-season?

knightza

{Ed001's Note - from what I can find out, there is no interest in Griezmann right now, mainly due to price.

I haven't had the people who would know exactly who it was about get back to me, but we have held talks with Swansea. The reason why its Bony and Davies being linked is simply papers guessing, they are just looking at what we need and putting 2 and 2 together and hoping to be right. I was reminded that Brendan Rodgers loved their other left back Taylor, when he was in charge, so that has to be a possibility too. I am also told they have interest in some of our players, so it is equally likely it could be a player leaving. I am hoping to get some more info today on it.

I don't know sorry, the name has never been mentioned to me at all, not in connection with anyone, that I can remember.

Kelly was fit all last season, we were just easing him back to fitness like we did with Flanno. Enrique has been back in training already, Monday I think it was he started, again I wouldn't expect much from him for a while. Rossiter is expected to feature heavily in preseason.}

1.) 11 Jul 2014 08:31:28
Great reply Ed. Seems viable it could be any of the players you have said or could be them after our players. Are you hoping to find out today mate?

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed yes. It seems I was wrong about being in another country not making things more difficult! It is so much harder to push people for info when over here, even just because the time differs by a few hours, so you have less time to chase them up.}

2.) Vorm maybe?

{Ed001's Note - good point, I had completely forgotten about him.}

3.) I would really like Taylor, and could be significantly cheaper than Davies. Still young and proven in the Prem. Yes he's had his injury problems but to me it makes more sense than Davies.

BR loved him and he's not getting game time at Swansea.

LB : Taylor/Moreno
LCB: Sakho/Toure
RB: Lovren/Ilori
RB: Flanno/Johnson

That's damn good in my opinion.

I know we are unlikely to get 2 lb's but one can dream!

4.) Do you rate either Davies or Taylor Eds? Or would you rather Bertrand, who is seeming more likely?

{Ed001's Note - before his injury Taylor looked impressive, but he has barely played since then. Not a fan in the slightest of Davies though. Not convinced by Bertrand either. But I hope that they will prove me wrong if we sign any of them!}

5.) RedDawn why no Skrtel or Wisdom?

6.) I think it's time to move Skrtel on while we can still get a fee for him and Wisdom would either be backup for RB/CB or get a loan to a Prem club. If Sktrel stays then great and Ilori can get a loan or be used sparingly.

One thing we are not short of is defenders with potential who need game time.

Kelly, Ilori, Wisdom, Smith, McLaughlin. We can't play them all, but given a good loan we could end up with a very good batch of young players.

7.) RedDawn, I agree wit u on Skrtel but you're living in dreamland if u think we could be signing 2 left backs. Would u b so keen on Taylor then? I wouldn't.

8.) Fair point RedDawn. I just post an answer to a recent question, but it also relates to your answer here.

The Liverpool loan, it's becoming like the Chairmanship vote of confidence. Not many managers survive after that, not many LFC players regardless how well they do survive a loan deal.
How many are coming back, welcomed and not for sale from last season?

9.) 11 Jul 2014 14:21:59
Good afternoon Ed. Sorry mate to push my look but have you had any feedbavl yet lol.

{Ed001's Note - not yet sorry. At this rate you will all be able to tell me what is going on instead!}

10.) Heard anything since Ed001?

{Ed001's Note - not yet mate, it is a busy time at the moment for people in football, they can often not get in touch for days unless I can prod them.}

Hi Eds,

Thanks for all the good work - As Glen Johnson has caused us a few goals in recent weeks, do you think he will leave in the summer (his contract may not be renewed considering his form and wages).

If he will leave, wouldn't this make the RB (or LB if Flafu were to come over to RB) a priority? Why are we bidding for Lallana first when our Midfield is already packed.

Also - would you be able to give us updates on Kelly please? And possibly the future of Rossiter (will he be promoted to senior squad next season?)

Thanks heaps

knightza

{Ed001's Note - Johnson has another year left on his contract, I doubt he will go anywhere before then.

We are bidding for Lallana because we need a creative midfielder to break down packed defences.

Kelly is just being eased back, similar to the way Flanagan was. He now has the summer to think about things and decide if he wants to look for a move or try and get back in the team. I would think Flanagan's example would be a good example to him though, as he was on his way out at one point, but knuckled down, worked harder and got his chance.

Rossiter has been in and around the squad all season for experience, I expect the same next season with a run out in the cups.}

1.) Think the challenge with Johnson is finding someone who would want him enough to put in a reasonable bid. He's on pretty high wages and isn't getting any younger so I can't imagine there would be a ton of interest in him.

2.) RDL got it spot on. We would move him on if we could.

3.) I know the club are paying top wages to Johnson but surely he won't be allowed near Anfield or Melwood from now on .

If I ever had the ability to be a professional footballer, which I didn't by some distance, I would have instantly packed in after producing the performance he gave on Sunday, or at the very least made a public apology .

Hi eds,

With Kaka telling Real Madrid he wants to leave, who's got the best chance of getting him? R we in the running at all?

Cheers {Ed001's Note - you do realise that, until Ronaldo moved to Madrid, Kaka was the world's highest paid player, right? He is still on huge wages, way out of our stratosphere. While I expect him to take a cut, I am quite sure someone in Turkey or Russia/Ukraine, even China, will offer him a huge salary that he will take.}

knightza

1.) 30 Aug 2013 00:02:43
Personally I think this is an excellent bit of business. Jones is terrible.
You do realise that LFC are capable of multi-tasking?
What would you rather we do? Line all signings up in order of importance and follow each through to completion before moving on to the next?
I very much doubt that BR is that thick that he isn't aware that we are in need of a CB. He has his targets but these things take time.

2.) Kaka has wasted his last 4 years at Real Madrid, another in a long line of footballers who have been swallowed up and spewed out of that club.

Good luck Gareth Bale. :)

3.) But wouldn't he want to try one last time to get to the World Cup? He will get plenty more notice at Liverpool than those Russian/Turkey/China etc.?

Well at least do you see us being 'interested'? {Ed001's Note - I really doubt we will pay a player with his injury problems and lack of form wages in excess of 100k a week. Even 100k a week would be less than half his current earnings, in fact it would be less than a 3rd when tax is considered! It is just not going to happen and nor should it, this isn't the Kaka of a few years ago.}

4.) If you want Kaka at LFC, there is an easy way to get him playing for the club.

What you have to do is: go to Real Madrid, put in an offer, get the offer accepted and then fly Kaka to England. We will all be waiting for you. Good luck and God speed!

5.) Atletico according to most people here in madrid.Depends on him dropping his wage demands

6.) Wages are a problem however these would be offset by the substantial merchandising and advertising revenues that a player like Kaka brings.

The biggest problem is the simple fact that there would be several teams able to offer champions league football.

We don't need players like this at LFC at this time.

7.) Would wages really be a problem? I mean he gives a fair amount of it to the church anyway. I think the wages are just something Madrid threw at him to make sure he went there at the time. I would love Kaka to be our left winger. He could teach Coutinho/Sterling and Ibe so much about making soace for a shot and such

It's my birthday today and I must say, I quite enjoyed listening to Jurgen wishing me happy birthday and singing for me.

Did they just do it this year? I don't remember getting one like this last year (s) .

Haha! I thought the same mate! Put a smile on my face and made me feel about 10 years old again. Bit of quality light jearted fun.

2.) 07 Sep 2017 17:09:59
I got mine in March past -- was a laugh for sure. But I'd never received one in prior years, either.

Something to look forward to again for 2018!

Hi Eds, With Liverpool sending Ojo to Fulham on loan this season, do you think the club is now trying to fixed the strained relationship with them (from the Dempsey time)?

knightza

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

1.) 16 Aug 2017 10:55:18
Step in the right direction.
I hope we make it right with Southampton, maybe send them clyne on loan 👍😉.

2.) 16 Aug 2017 11:00:44
Or give them lovren plus 25mil for Vvd xD.

3.) 16 Aug 2017 11:07:51
Lovren plus £25m for VVD? I'm hoping that was a joke. We'd be lucky to get VVD for £50m + Lovren.

4.) 16 Aug 2017 11:40:05
I thought you said make it up to Southampton then you try giving them Lovren and valuing him at over £35m lol.

Thanks Eds for the good work. I especially appreciate Ed001 match report/ analysis, be it in words or in podcast.

In terms of our current team, I think we are great going forward. It's an entirely different way of attacking than what I'm used to. Our current front four (Firmino, Coutinho, Lallana, Mane) are very different to Owen/ Heskey, Torres/ Gerrard, Sturridge/ Suarez, and forwards we used to have.

In midfield, I think we are still trying to find a partner for Henderson. I'm not convinced about Can yet - and personally I think Wijnaldum works better, though the partnership is far from perfect. Do you know if we are interested in Kondogbia from Inter? Really like him from the time he was at Monaco.

For our defense, hopefully we get an upgrade on Lovren like Ed001 said - though I would like to see Gomez given a chance to partner Matip. Do you think it will happen?

In goal, not sure if anyone else feels the same way but Karius reminds me of Westerveld. Not particularly good, but not particularly memorable. We did win stuffs with him in goal but he's far from convincing.

Hi Eds,

Is it true ...........

knightza

{Ed002's Note - This is the Liverpool page - try the Arsenal page if you want to talk about their players and the clubs interested in them.}

18 Dec 2014 06:01:13
Hi Eds,

What do you think of the 3-4-3 recently implemented by Rodgers?

In my opinion, it seems to work well (attacking-wise). But defensively, it's still abysmal. Is there any young academy centre back we should be trying instead? Taking Toure Skrtel and Sakho in the first XI, and seeing Lovren is a disaster at the moment.

Cheers,

knightza

{Ed002's Note - I have no interest in where the players stand at the start. Liverpool is largely overrun with CBs with Ilori and Coates out on loan as well.}

1.) Or how about appointing a specialist defense coach so that the players u just mentioned start playing better. The defensive shambles is a result of poor coaching or a lack of coaching itself. Skrtel, Sakho and Lovren are all international quality defenders, who have been made to look average by Brendan. A good coach would make the team better defensively and more rounded and compact.

2.) 18 Dec 2014 08:42:57
Unfortunately the CB's are poor. They have played along with each other in every possible system out there and the outcome well you know it.

3.) 18 Dec 2014 08:47:07
Indian

Let's not talk about the international quality.
Sakho is playing France. Which means the likes of pogba, matuidi and co in the midfield
What does he gets at Liverpool?
Lucas and Gerrard ain't it?

Skretel plays for Slovakia who has never reached a group stage in any major tournament.

4.) 18 Dec 2014 09:24:07
Hi Ed002, I wasn't just talking about their starting position. I believe throughout the game, there were 3 at the back.

And yes, I'm aware that Coates and Illori are on loan. Are there any decent kids (defender) that we currently have at our club though?

{Ed002's Note - Flanagan, Wisdom, Paez, Smith, the kid who arrived from Spurs....}

5.) 18 Dec 2014 17:56:41
Kevin Stewart Ed002?

{Ed002's Note - Yes, I think so.}

6.) So, Harry, is it that the players are poor or that they are not protected by their mid?

You've said both you see, so would love to know which you actually believe in?

7.) @ passion pride

Just shows your ignorance, Slovakia qualified for the World Cup for years ago with skrtel in defence. They got through the group which involved New Zealand, Uruguay or Paraguay and Italy . Lost to finalist Holand in 2:1 or 1:0.
This year in qualification for euros they top the group with 1 goal conceded which was against Spain . 2:1 was result. Although I'm not fan of his, but he seems to be doing ok for national team.

You really do think differently to me. I think fullbacks are really important for us especially for those games that needs 'unlocking'. I would spend all I need to get who I wanted. I would take Alaba and Alves, but because Alaba won't leave Bayern for us, Mendy would be my second choice. If not then perhaps Jordi Alba. But really i hunk we need to get excellent fullbacks to compete. Robertson won't do.

knightza

{Ed001's Note - why Alba? Jordi Alba is hopeless.}

Would it be too late for Sakho to say sorry and promise that he will adjust his attitude? Sakho needs to realise how many LFC fans love him and he should behave passionately and professionally or in whatever way he can to keep Klopp satisfied.

I sure hope that there is still a chance of him making up with Klopp. I certainly hope Sakho's penny will drop after he reads through the social media today.

Definitely Bonucci but the other three.? Difficult choice. Personally, if I’m a football manager right now, I’d pick Luiz, Alderweireld, and . wait for it. Joel Matip.
