Hi ed 2,
do you now think we've finally finished our buying this summer? I posted earlier in the summer about lavezzi but we moved on from that and iv not heard anything concrete linking us to other new signings and I think our squad as a whole has a strong look to it now, great starting XI (particularly once Moreno, Manquillo and Markovic adapt to the prem) with a very strong bench. Also I know you hate talking finances but i'm also worried about our FFP status if we were to spend much more as £116 mil is a huge sum to spend on transfer fees considering all the other fees that need to be added to this before you get our actual expenditure.
COME ON YOU REDS TONIGHT

{Ed002's Note - I am not so sure right now. The key in coming days will be clearing the decks with the players who can be sold - then it will be clearing the decks and loaning out a few. This will certainly happen. It seems to have gone a little quiet regarding Romero - perhaps Coates did not want the move in the other direction. Perhaps Romero was concerned he would be stuck on the bench. Liverpool has a very good young keeper I am told - the lad from Swansea I think. I don't recall his name but he won't have done anything wrong that he deserves to be "Brendaned". I don't see the need to rush to put pressure on Mignolet. If Lucas goes it means Can will get chances. I am told by a really well really well respected German ex-international that Can has the capability to become something really special and says he really is a versatile player. Markovich is a player that Chelsea could have taken for a lot less money but chose not to. They still think he is going to be really good in the future but they have no use for him now and it would mean a loan. Moreno is one I will need convincing about. Good player, not the brightest by all accounts, and really wants to play for Real Madrid. I hope he works out. Manquillo is very young and very inexperienced. If he does well he will likely return to Spain with Liverpool getting a nice payment. Lallana I see as the real winner - I suspect he is being looked at as the long term replacement for Gerrard. Perfect attitude, a leader and probably the shrewdest buy of the summer. I find it hard to see what else would be needed in the short-term. Buying for the sake of it makes no sense. The owners are out on a limb with this financially.}

I rarely get info so take this or leave it, but I've been told (albeit a journo friend so reliability?) that talks went far better than expected today between us and Barca, and both sides are closer to a deal than reported.

But Baarca are favouring including Sanchez as part of a deal (approx. 45 and sanchez) and have therefore agreed NOT to accept any offers for Sanchez from others clubs during these negotiations, in the hope he can be encouraged to join Liverpool. I hope this is true as I really think the lad can play.

The rest of our transfer activity would then resolve around selling players while targeting Lovren and Rojo (who I am certain is our number 1 LB target but this will tke a while due to his World Cup involvement and does explain why we are not worrying about the Moreno deal staling), with the possibility of signing Shaqiri also (who I think would add a great deal to our side).

Hope this was useful (and I hope its turns out to be reliable),
Thanks, Ryan

Hi eds,
ed 1 yesterday you said you knew little about whether we had any interest in markovic an whether we would attempt to sign him but you'd investigate. just wondering if you have any info now?
Also if there is interest in markovic, would be an either-or between him and shaqiri or is both possible?
If it is an either all, i'd like peoples opinions as to who youd rather sign (Id rather get shaqiri)

{Ed001's Note - as far as I can find out, all the rumours are jumping the gun and it was only an inquiry.}

As there is not enough rumours on here, I will add one to the mill, this is all honest but I prefer not saying anything incase I'm wrong:
As a football coach, I have built links with many youth scouts at academies (who, of course, know nothing of interest) however one in particular is very close to Liverpool's head scout and is in constant dialogue with him. As a result of this my friend (the youth scout) often has snippets of information- mainly on who is currently been watched and occasionally a bit more. I was speaking to him about the current rumours and he said he had been told that we have watched both Reus and Lavezzi quite seriously recently and that the head scout had reported he believed Lavezzi to be an ideal signing for Liverpool, affordable and style of play. I am led to believe this has been taken seriously and we are currently planning to make an offer- expect negotiations to begin within the next few days.
also as reported Agger will go. I do like the fella but if he is to be 4th choice centre-back next season it is worth cashing in on him, as it'd go at least half way to the cost of the Lovren deal and Lovren is a far better fit into our side.
ps I think the Agger fee will be around the £15mil mark (sorry eds)
Thanks

Hi eds,
would like your informed opinion:
do you think that, without any major outgoings (Im sure you know who that mainly refers to) Is it plausible that we may sign all 3 of: Lallana, Shaqiri and Sanchez or would we only want 1 of them if there's no sales? as personally I think Sanchez is a fantastic footballer and would fit into the team like a dream but its clear that we have pretty much signed Lallana. and if we did get all 3 our attacking midfield and strikers would be: Sterling, Sanchez, Shaqiri, Suarez, Sturridge, Lallana, Lambert. Now that would be exciting and a deep squad allowing us to compete on all fronts.

{Ed001's Note - plausible is 2 out of the 3.}
