Hi Eds. Great job during this window. Any updates on the left back position now the transfer window is getting going. Is Hector still a possibility. Watched Moreno the other night and we have to do better than him. a real weak link in the team. Many thanks.

superb

{Ed001's Note - we have returned to looking at Amavi, though I have no idea why we don't just pay the money for Chilwell.}

1.) 22 Jul 2016 10:44:25
How much have you personally seen of Chilwell to suggest that? (Not a criticism a genuine question because I, and many others would not have a true clue but a lot go on hype) . Moreno was going to be a terrific signing, on hype, before he arrived and failed consistently.

{Ed001's Note - personally? Very little. I am going off the judgement of people within Leicester, who think the lad is going to be a top class left back. As for Moreno, we all knew he was hopeless defensively, the hope was that it could be taught to him.}

2.) 22 Jul 2016 10:49:44
Thank you! So there is a Liverpool lad who we have all seen a fair bit of and, for me, has more than held his own in the prem. He's in London plying his trade with West Ham - don't you think he'd be worth a shot? 26 is not a bad age too - he may be happy in London but he may have some home sickness too. I'm just surprised he has not been considered, or has he?

{Ed001's Note - Cresswell? Not convinced he is good enough personally, he was certainly under consideration at one point though.}

3.) 22 Jul 2016 11:13:55
Ed do you rate Amavi? Would he be a good addition for us?

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - he looked quality before he got injured.}

4.) 22 Jul 2016 11:18:32
Thanks again. I doesn't make for good debate if everyone has the same opinion but I'm a fan and think he should have been considered as one of the England LBs. great delivery, relatively strong going forward and not been a liability defensively. But that's just my opinion.

{Ed001's Note - I think he is a liability defensively, he just works with a well drilled side who cover for each other. We don't have that at Liverpool yet. I expect Klopp to change that though over time.}

5.) 22 Jul 2016 11:26:13
I also think Klopp's best friend Wagner at Huddersfield recommended Chilwell. Let's see how it plays out. Fairly happy with the transfers so far but left back is my biggest concern.

8.) 22 Jul 2016 11:54:55
Fair enough Ed - and I hope so re Klopp and the defence generally. I will add view that nowadays with there being more expectation on the full backs to offer an offensive edge very few are as defensively solid as in the past maybe. But I was talking liability at the Moreno level whereby pretty much every time the right sided forward's get a run in the man seems to act like a bull to a matador!

{Ed001's Note - I don't think I have seen a bigger liability defending than Moreno to be honest. So I agree, he is nowhere near that bad. I also agree, there is so much onus on full backs to attack, very few can defend any more.}

9.) 22 Jul 2016 12:34:33
djimi traore would run him close.

10.) 22 Jul 2016 15:43:00
Maybe play with 3 centre backs and 2 wing backs, Moreno& Clyne just hug the touchlines, maybe then and this is a big maybe, Moreno could be seen in a better light BUT I really want the club to buy a good leftback 😕.

11.) 22 Jul 2016 16:22:23
There was never any hype regarding Moreno
And Liverpool were warned and told countless times by people in Spain he is not the defensive or solid left back Liverpool needed as he was more of an attack minded left back
So it was the club or Rodgers or whomever made it happen
It's clear as day that experienced people in Spain stated he is note what Liverpool need

And the proof was there all last season . Dude can't defend.

12.) 22 Jul 2016 16:20:56
Moreno should be played in the top 3 behind the attacker.

13.) 22 Jul 2016 17:50:10
Cresswell signed a new deal this week I think.

I know Paul Koncheskey has moved recently but do you think his mother would give him permission to move back? £25m should cover it.

(It's a shame I have to write this but I do. THIS IS A JOKE)

Personally for me I think we should pull out all the stops for Chidwell if we don't do it now he will sign for City or Chelsea for 30m next year and we will have to read all the posts on here bashing . insert name here. next season.

Thanks lads have a good day.

14.) 22 Jul 2016 19:43:54
I have to disagree with the Djimi Traore statement. He couldn't run.

Hi Eds,
Luciano (da Rocha Neves)from Brazilian team Corinthians. Have LFC or any English clubs looked at this fella. Only young but scoring the goals in the first team. I only mention him because I have a colleague working out there at the moment who is LFC fan and talks favourably about him.
Thank you.

superb

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest from English clubs and he would not be able to get a work permit.}

15 Apr 2015 15:58:45
Hi Eds,
Any update on the interest in Jaime Baez?
Thank you.

superb

{Ed002's Note - Not right now.

Jaime Baez has an offer on the table from Ajax and he is a player that Livepool first showed an interest in during 2012 - when there were several South American youngsters being tracked by the club. A work permit would be an issue but interest may still be there from Liverpool. Valencia and Palermo have also shown some interest this season.}

Hi Eds,
I know its a general question. but do you know of any rumours who you think may be linked to a move to LFC this summer. Thank you.

superb

{Ed002's Note - This has been done before and you should make the effort to read the posts before asking such things. However, since there are some minor updates I will provide the information once more. Mmuch of this will change by the summer and there are major dependencies on (a) players leaving (b) how much money the club can raise through sales (remembering that Liverpool will be probably be looking to sell players by the end of June to offset FFP issues), (c) Champions League qualification, and (d) any change in senior management or the management structure. However, there is known to be (or have recently been) some level of interest in the following players:

GK: Ochoa, Neto, Sportiello (unconfirmed to some extent as Atalanta and the player heard about the interest from an Italian journalist), Romero, Ryan, Ruddy. The club have also looked at many others.

RB: Danilo (certainly won't happen). I am not sure what will happen to Wisdom. I suspect a new deal for Flanagan but if Manquillo and Johnson both leave then the club will look for a new RB. If Rodgers remains as manager it is not out of the question that Ibe may be tried in a wing back role. Alternative is that Manquillo stays and RB is no longer a priority. The likes of Adriano and Alves have been mentioned by agents as possible options but such players will be expensive and are unlikely to end in anything but tears. Folks, I assume because of something in the press, have been asking about Janmaat moving to Liverpool. I don't know of interest but I am pretty sure Newcastle would not want to sell.

CB: A new deal has been offered to Toure and he will be considering his options. I doubt a CB is a priority - at least not before the club clear out some of those already on the books (Skrtel, Lovren, Sakho, Ilori, Coates, Paez, Lloyd Jones and Kolo Touré).

MF: I understand from an ex-German international that Liverpool have watched Lars Stindl on more than one occasion this season. Milner, Khedira (looking very, very, very unlikely), Pjanic (outrageously expensive), Vazquez

F/W: Ings, Vietto, Gameiro, Baez (a WP would be an issue initially), Kishna (I understand that old interest has been rekindled but it is hard to see how he would fit in), Lacazette (not going to happen), and Liverpool have looked again at Firmino. Two other players the club were interested in - Bakkali (I suspect Liverpool have stepped back from their interest like many other clubs) and Andre Ayew (a free agent who Liverpool enquired about last summer - no obvious interest right now but it may return).

If Liverpool do qualify for the Champions League and if further funds can be made available through sales, it would not be out of the question for Liverpool to look to one of the following as an option:

GK: Cech
MF: Carvalho, Turan
F/W: Benzema

And who would be my choice of players who will be available?

GK: Handanovic
RB: Darmain
CB: Balanta - Caniggia wanted Liverpool to move for Balanta more than two years ago - and he has got better. Rogers ignored the advice. He shouldn't have done. If Liverpool need a CB
MF: Matuidi, Morgan Sanson
F/W: Mitrovic - I don't see a long term future for Lambert and Mitrovic would give Liverpool a very good option that they are missing right now. Rodgers will regret using the words "Origi" and "world-class" in the same sentence.

1.) 20 Mar 2015 10:47:07
Agree 100% about Matuidi- the man's a class act. How open would PSG be to a move though and is he someone we've seriously considered?

{Ed002's Note - Manchester City and Manchester United are interested in Matuidi and PSG need to sell to raise funds, but whilst the player is keen to stay in Paris his agent has made it clear that he will listen to offers from England. Arsenal has also enquired about his availability.

Liverpool has shown no interest.}

2.) 20 Mar 2015 11:02:57
Thanks again for the update.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

3.) 20 Mar 2015 12:25:21

4.) 20 Mar 2015 14:35:38
Hey ed, just signing in to say you are amazing, and thanks for the updated info :> Those full reports are much appreciated.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome man.}

5.) 20 Mar 2015 19:56:29
Great post ed, thanks for your time in posting this for us all, maybe you could do us all a massive favor and do one of these once a month at the end of the month to keep us all updated?

cheers again

{Ed002's Note - The next is scheduled for October.}

6.) 21 Mar 2015 07:22:23
Really appreciate the update Ed002. I would personally love Vietto to make the move. I would prefer Kolo to go, nothing against him but I would like to see Ilori or another youngster to get a chance and grow as part of the team.

Do you know if Rossiter is rated highly enough withing the management to not go out and waste more money we don't have on a player to replace Gerrard? Or are the we dead set on buying in a replacement?

{Ed002's Note - Rossiter is one of a number of youngsters who are very well thought of by the club. Whilst he may well deserve an opportunity in the first team I suspect at best he would be a squad member in the short term and get the occasional chance, I would very much doubt he will get thrown in to the first team right away. A gradual integration is always good for the player as well.}

7.) 21 Mar 2015 09:35:44
will we sign a left back?

{Ed002's Note - I wouldn't think so.}

8.) 23 Mar 2015 00:08:38
Hello Ed

Would it be possible for you to do this for the Celtic page as well ?

Would be great to have a real insight into our clubs transfer activity.

{Ed002's Note - I cannot help in that way about Celtic - have Ed007 contact me next week (I am travelling all of this week) and we can try and do something.}

Sorry if been mentioned in past.
Have we shown any interest in Paulo Dybala. Very skillfull, technical and tough player and finds the back of the net regularly. Reminds me of a certain South American No.7 we used to have.
Thanks and have a good day.

Hi

With Arsenal struggling, would there be an opportunity for LFC to pick up some of there players like we did with Chamberlain. Players like Ramsey or Wilshire who Klopp may do his magic with or are they not good enough for LFC?
Thank you.

superb

{Ed002's Note - To replace who?}

1.) 04 May 2018 12:28:08
Hi

Not to replace (unless someone leaves), but maybe to add to the squad quality in depth as LFC seem to have struggled with rotation options. Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - You are living in a fantasy world then.}

2.) 04 May 2018 12:38:36
The very same flakey players who are the reason arsenal are in the position they are now? No thanks.

3.) 04 May 2018 12:43:37
god no, for the last time jack wheelchair is not good enough to play for Liverpool fc, Bournemouth is his level.

4.) 04 May 2018 12:44:40
Chamberlain Ramsey or Wiltshire! Did you watch them last night mate? I'd rather play our under 18 players.

5.) 04 May 2018 12:48:33
Only one I’d like would be Ozil and not quite sure he’d fit/ come/ be financially worth it.

6.) 04 May 2018 13:05:19
I'm seriously struggling to think of a single arsenal player I'd want. Possibly a fit Ramsey as a squad player but I prefer what we have tbh. Then again I didn't want OX but the guy has been a beast.

7.) 04 May 2018 14:14:44
If really pushed, I'd take Welbeck (if Sturridge, Origi and Ings left) . He would suit our press at least, can cover across the front line, and scores a decent amount of goals, but not so much that he's expect to start every week. Rather keep Ings or Origi though.

Ozil possibly wouldn't suit the system but he is good enough to adapt I guess. Overpaid now though. Lacazette, Mkhitaryan or Aubameyang are all no's. They're all too lazy out of possession.

After That? Meh.

8.) 04 May 2018 15:19:40
If really pushed?

You’d have to push me off a cliff to take Welbeck 😂😭

Arsenal players? No thanks 👋🏼.

9.) 04 May 2018 15:33:19
Classic Ed002 👏.

10.) 04 May 2018 15:45:26
I wouldn’t touch arsenal players with a chelsea cheque book. Buvac’s got his hands full there.

11.) 04 May 2018 16:25:14
Exactly Keith. Just goes to show how bad their squad is!

I don't even particularly rate Welbeck, but he is the only Arsebal player who shows up and plays like he wants to win. Shame he lacks quality.

12.) 04 May 2018 20:54:41
The players are allowed to be flaky, that is the problem at Arsenal. We will see most of those players in a very different mould before long I think.

13.) 04 May 2018 21:38:22
The only player in that team I would want is Bellerin, the rest? No thanks, not Ramsey, certainly not Wilshere and none of their forwards, definitely not Xhaka and Ozil only plays well when he feels like it. I certainly wouldn't want Welbeck because not only is he an ex manc, he is a died in the wool United supporter, I could probably tolerate a player being an ex manc (ie Peter Beardsley), but to be that and a supporter of them? No way. Not acceptable.

02 Nov 2017 10:17:48
Hi

Stefan di Vrij being mentioned in the press. Is he a leader and organiser of the defence? Who do you think, that is available, would be a great addition to try and solve our defensive issues? Great site and thank you.

superb

1.) 02 Nov 2017 10:33:01
Organiser? Yes.

However he is slower than Klavan. Would help on set pieces no doubt, and he can play! However, we'd still get done in behind against the bigger teams.

2.) 02 Nov 2017 10:38:32
We need to start looking at signing defenders who will work in a partnership.

So if we assume Gomez is going to get a run in the side then what are his strengths and weaknesses.
Biggest weakness is lack of experience and I think he's not dominant in the air, understandable for a young lad. His biggest strength is his speed and ability to recover a situation as well as his ball skills.

So we need a defender who's experienced and dominant in the air and can lead a defensive line. Might sound obvious but the recruitment team needs a lot of direction.

3.) 02 Nov 2017 10:47:43
Sami Hyypia wasn’t quick, but he knew how to use his physical strength and he had an extra yard in his head because he was a very intelligent footballer. So I’d take a defender who had the intelligence to make up for their pace.

4.) 02 Nov 2017 10:56:23
Agree Mr Dennis. Even Carragher was not blessed with pace, but he was the only voice you could hear shouting and screaming to organise that defence. Read an interview with Phil Thompson recently who stated Van Dyke is not that kind of player so how would he help?

My question is: Who is out there that is available that has those traits?

5.) 02 Nov 2017 10:56:37
Well said Ron. Gomez is also better on the right side of the partnership, so we should target someone who plays on the left side.

I think that is why the club wants Van Dijk. He is as dominant in the air as you can get, he prefers the left side, he is club captain at Southampton etc. The only problem is he likes to go walk about.

You could argue though, that he just doesn't suit Southampton in open play. Their defensive line is ridiculously deep, and Van Dijk likes to get involved im the play. For him to do that at Southampton he has to come about 40-60 yards out of the defensive line. In our team where we dominate possession and press high up the park, Van Dijk can get involved without having to massively vacate his position. It might suit him. He does need to sort out those lapses in concentration though, so that he gets himself into position a split second faster.

Macca seemed certain the club would sign him. I think everyone within the club still believes we will. He wants to come, Klopp wants to sign him. He wouldn't be my choice, but I'm trying to understand the logic for signing him and there is some there. City, Chelsea, Barcelona, Arsenal and Liverpool are the interested clubs. I think that says a little about his abilities, even if he his over rated to some extent. If he is the player Klopp wants, then let's just hope the club can get it done.

6.) 02 Nov 2017 11:02:33
Hyypia played in a deep defense.

7.) 02 Nov 2017 11:25:23
True Dennis, but Hyypia played in a deep defensive. Klopp won't adjust his style so we need a centre back with the pace to keep up with strikers running beyond them.

8.) 02 Nov 2017 12:41:48
Most Strikers are generally quick and they will always be running forward. A defender needs to turn to chase that striker so unless the defender is Usain Bolt 9 times out of 10 they will always struggle to match that striker even if they are just as quick as them. What we need are defenders who read the game and are in position ready before the striker even breaks into his stride. That's where players like Hypia were great.

{Ed001's Note - you are forgetting that the striker is very rarely able to sprint flat out, due to needing to control the ball or hit a shot. That is why someone like Sol Campbell got away with being positionally inept, he was quick enough to get back in and make a challenge.}

9.) 02 Nov 2017 12:42:18
De Vrij is injury prone, slow and will be bullied by PL CF's who are built like tanks. Comparing Hyppia with any of our defenders is a false narrative. Tho he was an intelligent footballer, he played in a deep defence and he would struggle in ours esp. w/ o a true DM in Hammann protecting him. VVD may not be my choice but he is a step in the right direction, plays on the left side of the defence and is powerful in the air. He is not vocal and his languid approach to the game is a concern BUT that can be coached out of him, IMO. Gomez does need to get more games cos he can be a great asset to us in the future.

10.) 02 Nov 2017 18:26:28
Gomes is clearly seen as the future of liverpools cb hence the chasing of vvd who plays on the left.

19 May 2017 09:59:50
Regarding Mbappe
May be pie in the sky BUT
Does he fit with the FSG Strategy. Worth spending big on the proven 18yr old and selling at a profit 3 yrs later?

superb

1.) 19 May 2017 11:03:52
Football is in just a muddle so much so that no big clubs are willing to sell their prized assets resulting in unrealistic and tbh unfair bidding for 18 year olds.
18 year olds and the youth alike should be just allowed to play football care free and as they like and anywhere they like. Money and craziness should not touch them. they should be let alone and enjoy the game and entertain the globe.
its not long away that teams will start bidding millions for 3 year olds who can dribble dabble around.

2.) 19 May 2017 12:56:46
Is he actually THAT good?
I honestly think he's still very very raw.

3.) 19 May 2017 14:27:24
His composure is first rate he has real intelligence to make the right choice between assist or shot . He's been very good and in my opinion will only get better.

Hi Eds,

Great to see Sturridge back in training on the LFC website. but out of all the photos where is our No.9?? Benteke not in one of them. Hope he's not injured.

superb

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, I haven't heard of any serious fitness issues regarding him, he might just have been having a rest or doing a different training.}

1.) 27 Aug 2015 17:55:16
Hendo and Gomez were also missing, are they doubtful for weekend Ed?

{Ed001's Note - Hendo is, not sure about Gomez, Square Tomato might know though.}

2.) 27 Aug 2015 18:45:26
Rodgers decided he doesn't rate Benteke after his lengthy spell in the team, Liverpool can't register all their players so he's going to stick him with the u21's until someone meets his £105m buy out clause.

3.) 27 Aug 2015 18:50:27
big man might just be off taking a p*ss

4.) 27 Aug 2015 22:30:01
I heard he's going to play him as a midfielder because we are down to our last couple of dozen.

Agree with stuie_boy.

Klopp has taken over a mid table team. Rodgers has bought a mid-table team.
With all the injuries it is a great achievement to reach a final. Hopefully we may have a few back for the final.

Patience is required. Klopp will need to sort out Rodgers mess in the summer. If he can get us to a final with this team imagine what he is capable of with HIS team.
