I'd appreciate it if any of the Eds could share their views as to how and why we're so shambolic, particularly the dishonourable and insidious way we seem bent on conducting our business.

wiwar1000

{Ed002's Note - I want to move away from that but folk keep bringing it up. There are lessons to be learned and I hop the club do that this summer.}

1.) 14 Aug 2017 23:11:19
We've been in existence for 125 years ed. if we haven't learnt them by now then we've got no hope! And Wiwar you must be a Manc troll.

2.) 15 Aug 2017 00:33:19
If lessons aren't learnt from these two or possibly three incidents then we deserve a transfer ban for a year or maybe banned from Europe for two seasons.
Whatever about tapping up senior players - that's bad in itself, but messing with a kid, his life, career and family is horrific.
Imagine if that was you at 12, your dad almost at pension age and a 6 figure debt caused by the club that promised you all sorts. If there's any justice in the world he'll join Everton and score a few goals against us. You just DO NOT mess with a kid's life unless you're a scumbag!

It'd be infinitely better if the money made available for VVD/ AOC went towards 2 full backs of genuine quality instead (what a spectacular waste of money VVD/ AOC would/ will be if either happens btw)

Also, we need to start showing some basic ethical and moral fibre in our actions and dealings and stop with this amateurish, blundering, cringeworthy, embarrassing, unprofessional conduct. I sincerely hope there are some serious disciplinary actions going on behind the scenes and firm plans in place to repair the huge reputational damage i. e. transfers, community work, charity work etc.

Could not agree more wiwar. 2 competent fullbacks will completely change things for us. Improve on left and right back and we will then have a team capable of challenging for the top.

Forgetting the fact that it's Lovren, I really dislike this habit we're getting into of making a song and dance about renewing contracts during the season and wish we'd save it for the summer.

I can't help but feel that the player should be completely focused on his performance, rather than how much he's getting paid for it, whilst the season is in full flow.

I also wonder if it has a potentially detrimental impact on team and results, mostly from a morale point of view i. e. 'so and so is getting more than me, but I'm working harder/ performing better than him' and such like.

Another issue is, who's making the decision about timings? Surely anyone with half a brain wouldn't want to publish the fact straight after the player's just had an absolute stinker of a performance. Just hold fire until he's had a good game (or maybe that's the problem! )

It all comes across as really amateurish to me and sets a poor example, which I hate when it comes to a process that should be quite straightforward, certainly in terms of 'publicity'.

wiwar1000

{Ed002's Note - You cannot keep contract renewals secret I am afraid. They are registered with UEFA and that information is made available.}

1.) 29 Apr 2017 15:19:03
Thanks for your input as ever Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

If not in ours, I hope that there's an alternative universe in which Sakho is forgiven, behaves and strikes up a mean partnership with Matip for many seasons to come, ably supported on the flanks by TAA and Juanma.

wiwar1000

1.) 11 Mar 2017 11:33:34
We need Stewie's multiverse drive to check out that universe. Ideally that is also a universe where Rafa patched up his differences with Xabi.

2.) 11 Mar 2017 13:58:10
I'm sure there's an alternative universe where we signed Messi as a teenager. And one where Souness made better choices on the transfer market and Moores wasn't a numpty and as a result we were never knocked off our perch.

Too bad we can't access them, eh?

We need to, as fans, mentally deal with the fact that Sahko's not part of the clubs plans going forward. He fell afoul of the club's disciplinary system and was frozen out for 6 months. Whilst we don't know exactly what he did or didn't do, I don't think that happens to players over minor misdemeanours. He's not coming back and there's no point in dwelling on it.

3.) 11 Mar 2017 18:35:06
Nope.

As always: player vs manager = back the manager.

4.) 12 Mar 2017 13:14:54
I agree if our squad was big enough to deal with his absence.

When we were short on centre halves lately Klopp could have called Sahko back already chastened by half a season in the reserves and told him he was playing for his future thus showing all who was boss but also seeing sense from a purely football point of view.

Surely this would have got the best result for the CLUB if only to put him in the shop window.

It's worrying that Klopp can't see this point of view.

And also his comments that the goalkeeping situation is as good as it could be.

Strange to say the least but again the club have handed complete power by giving him A huge 5 year deal too early.
It's around this time that results dipped.

5.) 13 Mar 2017 00:28:14
Disagree Dermot. Sahko has been a right bell and we all know that. Klopp is trying to instill discipline in the team and allowing the lunatics to run the asylum, is senseless and in no way helpful towards achieving that goal. If he had recalled Sahko and we still had issues defensively, Klopp has lost his credibility and other players won't respect him.

Clearly, you don't have a problem with that but many of us and Klopp, do and in that situation, the manager will always win. Klopp was right to stick to his guns and has the support of majority of the fans and the owners on this issue. By the way, this is coming from a Sahko fan.

6.) 13 Mar 2017 09:46:35
I understand totally what your saying Noah. Red and agree with you on a lot of it but I still think as I said before from a purely football point of view the team would be stronger with Sakho in it rather than playing Lucas at centre half. Carra said something similar as well after the Leicester game.

Klopp has never said publicly that Sakho has absolutely no future with the club. After 6 months in reserve football Klopp could said Sakho had served his sentence and be rehabilitated into the first team when results were at risk.

Sakho could have been getting man of the match performance, so for us instead of helping fat sam at Crystal palace. God only knows what Klopp would have done with The Suarez biting and Evra instances; Siberia most probably.

7.) 13 Mar 2017 16:54:12
I agree with your opinon, Dermot. Now as for the Suarez thing, I think Siberia would be a good shout, LOL.

You don't build a house from the roof down, you build it from the ground up, on strong footings, before topping out. Our foundations are clearly weak, have been for a long while. Addressing the defence has to be the priority.

wiwar1000

1.) 05 feb 2017 13:10:44
well need one new cb in the summer at the expense of lovren. klopp don't fancy gomez yet which is clear by yesterday. i can't see us brininging a gk unless we sell both migs and karius ( as ward will come back to be under study ) we are simply stuck there. we need a lb. i know that's too much change at the back but if anything it has shown this season is our defense. and most importantly we need to learn how to defend as a unit. a fantastic holding midfielder should be accuired someone willing to stop the counter attacks.

2.) 05 Feb 2017 13:17:12
I think it should be one of the priorities but the best form of defence is attack.
We are starting games in 2017 on the back foot, building up possession in our own half and waiting for the opponents to get organised at the back.
We need more urgency, we need to play the first 10 minutes like it's the last 10 minutes.
That's what upset me most against Swans, we basically wasted 45 minutes and gave the opponents confidence.

Start with more urgency, sort out set pieces at both ends and we will rediscover our form.

3.) 05 Feb 2017 17:02:57
Agree with you for the most part, Ron, but we've been disjointed and rudderless at the back for a while and you can't expect that to go unpunished in this league any more, whichever team you're playing.

It is pretty galling seeing the same old mistakes made meekly time and again. I'm not saying we should sign this player or that, or particularly change the way we play, just that it would be nice to have a bit of organisation and mettle in the defensive aspects of our game.

It is pretty basic stuff really and shouldn't be too much to ask, should it?

Clickbait.

{Ed001's Note - even if Fabregas was good enough he would be the most unsuited player to our system imaginable. Lazy player and a lazy link.}
