Evening Eds. I watched a few Ajax games this season and Ziyech really stands out for them. Looks the best player in the erdivisie.

Hes playing a role in a midfield 3 now similar to what coutinhos done this season.

Ive never heard his name mentioned with all the coutinho replacements being bandied about.

Surely he's not going to stay in that league much longer? Any interest from us at all?

xabi14

{Ed001's Note - one of a large number who have looked at him but nothing more yet.}

24 Dec 2017 00:02:44
I just read some reports from germany that timo horn could be leaving Koln as early as january with them looking certain for relegation.

Do we maintain an interest there Eds? And did we try sign him the same summer we bought karius?

xabi14

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool looked at him when Karius was purchased but it was Gary Ablett who tried to buy him for Liverpool in early 2009. No one is expecting him to move in January and only one club has shown any interest - and it is not Liverpool.}

22 Aug 2015 23:58:20
Hey Eds. Any chance at all of us going in for Wanyama now that he's requested to leave?

I know the squad is ridiculously huge but he'd be perfect for our midfield with Lucas on the way out.

xabi14

{Ed002's Note - No, Liverpool has never shown an interest in him.}

10 Jun 2015 22:19:17
Hey Eds,

Lots of talk about a right back coming in this Summer even though we're well stocked in that position.

Are we looking to bring in a left back though? We've no real cover for Moreno there (presuming Enrique is going)

Also, Alex Sandro, Porto left back. We were linked with him last year. Would we be interested or is he likely to move this summer.

xabi14

{Ed001's Note - the only one I know of is Garbutt.}

1.) 11 Jun 2015 08:28:34
Enrique has one year left on his contract as I recall. Given his age and lack of any real play time in ages I can't see anyone being very interested in him.

2.) 11 Jun 2015 10:48:40
If they sign Montoya then he can cover LB if Moreno struggles/gets injured and Wisdom/Manquillo can play RB.

Looking back at some of the early season games, I still think Manquillo shows real potential, he's just more defensive than attack minded. Ultimately Flanno will hopefully get fit again too.

I hope they only go for one signing that's flexible enough to play either side.

3.) 11 Jun 2015 13:12:56
Hey ed - do you think he would choose us? I have never watched him play, but like what I hear in scout reports - and it will be pretty much in the face of MU if he turns out to be on par with 30 ml Luke Shaw (I like Shaw, but 30 ml? Ridiculous.)
My chief worry is that even if he comes here, we will not develop him properly. He would need to receive a chance, especially with Moreno being somewhat shaky defensively - or are we playing Lallana on LB this season?

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea mate, you would need to ask him, it is a personal decision he has to make now.}

4.) 11 Jun 2015 13:25:09
If we are properly looking for a new LB would love to see us go for Andy Robertson from hull. Looks like a real star in the making i think. don't see LB as a priority though

03 Jun 2015 22:50:06
Hi eds, long time reader, first time poster. Has the club ever had an interest in Cristian Ansaldi? He'd be a decent signing, a solid attacking full back and can play both sides. he's only on loan at Atletico as far as I know. Do you know of any potential interest, if not from us?

xabi14

{Ed002's Note - There is no interest from Liverpool. There has been interest from various clubs in the passed but nothing I am aware of right now.}

Eds, Any chance at all of Pepe Reina making a glorious return to Anfield to show our mis-firing keepers how to put hands in their gloves?

He wants out of Napoli. Chairman insulted his lovely wife apparently.

I'd take him untill the summer.

xabi14

{Ed002's Note - Let's hope so.}

1.) 16 Jan 2018 21:48:41
You'd take Reina over Karius xabi14? are you serious or are you having people on?

2.) 16 Jan 2018 22:07:40
Hes cup tied in the CL so we will need a good back.

Scott Carson or Peter Gulacsi would be perfect.

To hell with it, let's bring in both.

3 keepers out, 3 keepers in.

Achterburg may as well sling his hook too. That might stop our goalkeepers habit of scratching both their ankles when the opposition are shooting.

Mike Hooper would jump at a coaching offer. According to his Wiki he is a bouncer in Durham now and also does a bit of courier work.

Boom. keeper issues sorted.

3.) 16 Jan 2018 22:28:14
Reina was getting beat on his near post on his last season with us he was a great keeper for us and we have great memories of his time i would like to keep those memories untainted his distribution was brilliant though.

4.) 16 Jan 2018 22:38:45
xabi14, thank god it's not up to you then.

5.) 16 Jan 2018 22:39:02
Hi Spooked

Yes I am serious. I did forward it to one of the other eds.

You seem like a fine affable gent so I'm sorry if it caused a bit of chaos and looking back it made little sense i suppose to say anything, it was probably done to put the fans minds at ease that the club is trying very hard to sign top goalkeepers, you hear lots of criticism towards the club for selling Coutinho and people thinking the owners are trying not to reinvest, which right now is not the case.

I have never heard his name mentioned all over twitter so people are not aware of this Faroe Islands international who does not get itchy ankles, now i hope that helps, but again he will take a lot of persuading .

Cheers

Macca. Pacca. from the night garden.

6.) 16 Jan 2018 22:48:04
Reina was a tart who whinged his way out of the club.

7.) 16 Jan 2018 23:29:18
Macca Pacca 😂 oh hell naw! If i find out Macca is short for Macca Pacca, Ed001 in Iggle Piggle, Ed002 is Oopsy Daisy, and Ed333, Ed033 and Ed025 are the tomli boos! I swear to god i will board the ninky nonk to London, fly the pinky ponk to Dubai, and "wacca pacca icka acka ooh" the lot of you!

{Ed033's Note - Ah, but which one is tinky winky?

8.) 16 Jan 2018 23:51:28
Showing your age there Ed033. The Teletubbies have grown up and had kids 😂 no joke!

Someone really should contact social services though. They're diabolical parents. How does a Teletubby even conceive? Must be something to do with them antennae things?

{Ed033's Note - Could be by Immaculate Conception if the Teletubbies are free from original sin.

20 Aug 2017 23:22:36
Paulinho done and now Jean Seri said to be signing for Barcas midfield.

Any insight if they want Phil for the neymar position or midfield Eds? .

xabi14

{Ed002's Note - RTP.}

1.) 21 Aug 2017 02:37:08
Jean Michael Seri is Barca's alternative to Coutinho I think. Hopefully they move on with Seri now and leave Coutinho be for another season as long as he gets his a** back in order and helps us have a good season.

19 Aug 2017 01:23:12
Hey eds. Thomo today mentioned Dele Alli amongst others as hypothetical replacements for coutinho.

Staying hypothetical here, if we did receive £120mill + for Phil what would be the chances of Tottenham taking that for Dele?

Its probably the only scenario where i'd be satisfied by a phil exit!

xabi14

{Ed001's Note - about the same as me winning the lottery this weekend. Levy would want more than that.}

1.) 19 Aug 2017 05:32:51
Levy would want 150 million pounds plus add ons. Basically telling us to go f**k ourselves.

2.) 19 Aug 2017 07:46:38
We should've just paid him the wages he wanted and offered game time and we could've had him for £5million a few years ago.

{Ed001's Note - or made sure Gerrard was awake when the lad was coming in to be shown around by Stevie G. He was supposed to be meeting his idol and having a look round with a view to signing, he came in and Gerrard was asleep so it never happened and he went and looked round Spurs after and signed for them. If Gerrard had been awake, the lad would never have even looked anywhere else, but it must have felt like a huge slap in chops for him that Gerrard couldn't even be bothered to be awake for the appointment they had made.}

3.) 19 Aug 2017 08:42:32
I'm pretty sure the reason wasn't Stevie G being asleep. Ian Ayer recently said Alli wanted to sign but LFC felt that £5m was too much for an unproven young player at that time.

{Ed001's Note - Alli himself said about Gerrard being asleep when he visited was why he never signed when he was shown around. Ayre doesn't know his arse from his elbow.}

4.) 19 Aug 2017 08:44:13
Not bothered really Ed, as we had the "Genius" BR in charge at the time and would prolly have played him at DM or RWB, just like he messed about with Can, Markovic and Lallana.

5.) 19 Aug 2017 09:24:40
Anybody else feel let down by Gerrard there?
I can't lie, that's actually guttering.
They always say, never meet your idol.

{Ed001's Note - partly Gerrard, but partly why the hell did no one think to wake him ready? They knew the lad was coming in, it was all agreed with MK Dons, hence his visit, why was someone not giving Gerrard an alarm call to ask him to be there?}

6.) 19 Aug 2017 09:28:02
Cardiff Red, the club was hardly going to come out and say a club legend was fast asleep when Dele Ali showed up at Melwood to be shown around. Alli is a LFC fan and would have made some compromises to make LFC his ultimate priority. Maybe he did not feel valued enough when the club failed to show him around and hence chose Spurs who actually have a recent history of grooming young players.

{Ed001's Note - the deal was all agreed, so no idea why Ayre has to gob off anyway. Alli was having a look round with a view to signing, MK Dons and Karl Robinson (who was in charge at the time) have both confirmed they had a deal with Liverpool agreed, only for Spurs to step in when he didn't sign it immediately.}

7.) 19 Aug 2017 09:30:55
If we'd have signed him he'd still be on loan to Barnsley!

8.) 19 Aug 2017 09:47:57
Dude i accept stevie g is a great servant from club but he is not a god neither is anyone. the mlst important thing is the club nothing is mlre important than the club. and if he gave a word he should keep it. that's y i feel ronaldo is better in this dept. he respects the fans. that they are nothing without them. otherwise they would be messi who has world of talent but doesn't give a rubbish about his fans.

9.) 19 Aug 2017 09:51:39
Defo make that man a club coach then.

10.) 19 Aug 2017 09:55:40
Should have pushed the boat out for the kid and had Gerrard there. but if he's as big a fan of the club as people say he still would have signed. jesus i would sign if Stevie was in bed with my Mrs.

{Ed001's Note - you aren't a professional player thinking about your career though. It is easy to say that when you are a fan who has no chance of playing professionally, but totally different when it is your career and livelihood. Your future depends on the decision. When one club pushes out all the stops, arranges a loan back to ensure you can leave on good terms with your current club, promises you will get in the first team the following season so long as you play well, while the other talks about reserve team football and can't even be bothered to get the club captain out of bed to meet you, which would you choose?}

11.) 19 Aug 2017 09:59:30
Can you imagine SAF letting his players or staff get away with that nonsense? He would have sent people round to drag him out of bed!

12.) 19 Aug 2017 11:37:37
Adam, SAF did do that and that is how Aaron Ramsey of Arsenal got away as Arsenal was also interested in him when he was at Cardif as a 17 yr old. SAF was supposed to tour OT with Ramsey in the summer of 2008 but instead, sent Gary Neville to tour OT with Ramsey. Where has Ramsey been playing since 2008?

29 Mar 2016 14:15:23
Hey Eds. I was watching Yarmolenko there again v Wales. It would be a travesty if the blues get him.

I know we were interested in the past. Did we ever come close?

A 6 foot +, left footed, versatile wide forward who scores goals is surely something we lack! he's proved himself in the CL, the Euros and vs England a few times. Surely we'd still be interested. From a Klopp angle he's not to disimilar to Reus.

xabi14

{Ed002's Note - No, Yarmolenko was never close to joining Liverpool.}

21 Feb 2016 01:51:20
Hi Eds. I was just looking through the Premier League squads on transfermarkt. We have by far the largest senior squad of 32! On top of that we have 4 senior players out on loan.

Spurs have 22, leicester 23, city 24, utd 26, arsenal 27. Chelsea won the league last year with 21.

Why the hell do we need such a large squad? Is this just a sign of a failed FSG transfer policy? Shouldnt we just jettison 15 or 16 out of that 36 and bring in 4 quality players. We'd probably end up saving some money! Interested to hear your thoughts / explanation on it.

xabi14

{Ed001's Note - it was the manager that was at fault for this. He wanted a large squad.}

1.) 21 Feb 2016 04:38:11
Totally agree, most have said on here we can comfortably lose 10 from that squad with maybe just 3-4 coming in at most. Rodgers just buying for the sake of it. No wonder he couldn't figure out his best team.

2.) 21 Feb 2016 13:46:07
His idea was just buy, buy, buy and see what sticks. That is not a strategy. That is incompetence.

3.) 21 Feb 2016 16:21:07
I hope, and expect, a number of players in the senior squad to be moved on in the summer.

I think Klopp will bring in a few players, but there will be far more leaving than arriving.

Speaking of work permits do the Eds know if Allan has a future at liverpool next season? I remember klopp and some players speaking highly of him when he was training with the squad last year.

A terrible buy. Yes.
Past his prime and poor for the last 6 years. Yes.
Troublemaker. Yes apparently.

But never anywhere near world class? ! that's not even harsh. Its ridiculous.

Won every single thing there was to win at club and national level. multiple times!

In uefa team of the season six years running.

In fifa team of the season five years running.

Voted worlds best goalkeeper five times.

Most clean sheets in champions league history.

Talented enough at only 16 years of age to play in the champions league for one of the biggest clubs in the world and won it outright at 18.
Can you imagine a 16 year old playing in goals for real madrid now? 16?

Made some of the greatest reflex seens at the highest level

Was outstanding, absolutely world class and one of the main reasons madrid won la liga the year under capello.

Never anywhere near world class?
Even a catalan native wouldn't agree with you.
