I don't wanna jinx things but how well has karius been doing lately, if he keeps up these performances we won't need to spend big on a keeper. What do ye think fellow reds.

I thought he was excellent today, that save at the end of the first half was top quality, if that goes in it’s a different game. The sign of a good goalkeeper is not having to do anything for 40 minutes and then coming up with a big save.

He’s been really good and another top drawer save today, make no bones about it. If De Gea had made that the press would be taking about it for weeks. He’s on the up. In my opinion he’s turned a corner and it looks like it’s all clicked into place.

His save today was absolutely top draw.

I was just thinking that.

I'm pretty sure we still need a top quality keeper but jeez, if he keeps his form until the end of the season he won't harm his chances at all!

I actually agree. He may nnot t be too draw (at the moment) but he is a darn sight better than we’ve recently had. Defence seems more confident which is great

Give him time I reckon.

Top class save and another faultless game. its a big if but if he keeps playing like that i wouldn't be spending big money on a new goalie. Sell Mignolet and let Ward be back up.

He seems to have lost that nervousness from his game. No messing about on the ball. Just needed a run in the team. Shame we had to put up with mignolet for so long this season.

More playing time as given him confidence and also having VVD there will make him feel more secure that's a fact.

Ignore the save, yes it was top drawer but look at his communication today off the ball, far far better and THAT is what instills confidence in your back 4.

Have to be honest Jcw bloody hard to ignore the save. That was a decent hit heading for the top corner. But you’re right, he did all the basics well and the most difficult thing he nailed.

This is the 1st time he's had a decent run. The lads 24. Very young for a keeper. He has the attributes to be top class. His 1st time kicking under pressure was very good. Came and claimed a few balls, very impressive, especially the one Lascelles pushed lovren into him. The obvious save. Has also shown recently he stands up strong in one on ones. and seems to be working well with the defence now. They don't put themselves under pressure as much now with stupid short kicks into the corner etc.

Just remember how well mignolet was playing at the end of last season and then look at him the start of this? Be careful what you wish for, we need a new keeper asap!

13.) 04 Mar 2018
04 Mar 2018 08:54:43
Mignolet has rarley played this well, i'd actually say NEVER. people need to get a grip, Mignolet has always cost us big big time, and if they think not making mistakes for 5 games last season makes up for 5 years of incompetence then maybe football is not the sport for them.

14.) 04 Mar 2018
04 Mar 2018 11:00:46
If Karius continues with the same form then we don't need to spend anything. Let Mignolet go, keep Karius and Ward (if he's as good as people say - I've seen him play only a couple of times) and bring in a senior keeper as backup.

15.) 04 Mar 2018
04 Mar 2018 11:05:44
These are the same fans that gave him 6 games last season and clamoured for calamity back. Lol.

16.) 04 Mar 2018
04 Mar 2018 11:06:15
In fairness to karius this is his first proper run of games since he was bought, long maybe it last could yet prove to be shrewd business by klopp.

17.) 04 Mar 2018
04 Mar 2018 11:54:31
I think if Karius keeps this up, then there’s no need to bring another top keeper. We could stick with Ward as 2 and Karius as 1. Then bring in an older very experienced keeper as a number three, maybe like Ben Foster or Reina? (NOT Navas though) .

18.) 04 Mar 2018
04 Mar 2018 18:21:58
He did have a good game and it was a top drawer save. He he is so so better than Migs and the back four look better for it. However, a small criticism, he really needs to work on his long ball distribution.

19.) 04 Mar 2018
04 Mar 2018 22:36:02
Playing really well! And I'd love for him and Ward to battle it out as our 2 keepers if Karius keeps performing.

Thing is he WILL make a mistake at some point, like all keepers do, and when that happens I hope the fans and the media don't rip him apart. and I hope he can rise above it and not have his confidence shattered like last time.

04 Mar 2018 23:08:06
Klopp's publicly given Karius his backing on more than one occasion. So to all those wetting their knickers at the prospect of a hugely expensive goalkeeper being signed in the summer : don't go holding your breath guys.

21.) 05 Mar 2018
05 Mar 2018 09:33:16
He is young for a keeper and is doing well - he has had a rough time of it for us from over the top criticisms from pundits to pressure and abuse from our own fans, the lad has had a very tough introduction to the club. That he has come back, performed to a good standard and contributed to a much more settled back line is testament to the lad. At the very least he is earning the chance to make the position his own - how he does, in more high pressure games toward the end of the season, may determine what business we conduct in the summer.

22.) 05 Mar 2018
05 Mar 2018 12:59:44
Eds, if Karius keeps up the form until the end of the season and we decide to keep him and sell Migs, do you think Ward would settle for no. 2 slot to someone the same age?

{Ed001's Note - no, that is not what Ward wants, nor would I think it is a good idea to have a young keeper willing to sit on the bench.}

23.) 05 Mar 2018
05 Mar 2018 18:32:06
i hope his form continues but we still need a world class keeper, you all telling me if we buy alisson becker your not sure who would be number 1. if we want to be challenging for the title against that city side there can be no doubt about being world class because come the summer city will get stronger so we have to as well. and 18 points is a massive gap to close so if there is any position in the team that can be improved we need do it. look at pep bought bravo was not good enough so replaced next season now look at the difference this season.

24.) 06 Mar 2018
06 Mar 2018 18:49:47
I would sell migs and let ward go for a minimal fee with a buy back clause down the line if he turns out to be a great keeper. Then go pick up another top keeper to challenge karius and push for the number 1 spot.

{Ed002's Note - It is not as easy as you think to get a "buy back" clause.}
