Barca apparently also interested in Migs for around £12.5m according to Sly.

To replace Cillessen, who's heading out.

Besiktas still also interested.

Will be enlightening to see if Migs wants game time or bench trophies.

Why does it have to be those options? I think its sad how we try to analyze athletes decisions these days.

No one else seems to be in for Mignolet as a first choice. So I guess if he's going to No 2 somewhere, Barcelona is probably not a bad place to go - almost certain trophies, nice place to live, being reunited with ex-Liverpool teammates :-), etc.

He will also get game time at Barcelona, he will play all the Copa Del Rey games and maybe even the champions league games. And as you say more than likely win trophies and live in a fantastic city. He won’t even make our bench next season so let’s just be happy for the guy and hope the move happens.

Zed, not a huge fan of what you're implying there. Going to Barcelona, even as a back up, is a big deal and something to be proud of.

I completely get where axed is coming from here guys. Word is that Migs wants out of lfc due to not being no1 - so how would going to Barcelona solve that?

And Putney it’s says a lot of a career highlight would be barely playing (if at all) for Barca.

He’s good enough to play for a mid table/ just below prem team. He’ll get good wages and actually play.

Agreed 87.

Just to clarify, Barcelona are a great team, but as 87 said, if Karius leaves, which I suspect he will, then Migs would be swapping our bench for Barca’s. Doesn’t make much sense.

He is good enough for other teams, especially more defensive ones, so if his complaint is lack of playing time, surely you’d expect to see him join one of those, either here or overseas, rather than warming Barca’s bench and getting the odd run out.

Amazing how no one has mentioned money. Maybe he will get a big signing on fee and whopping weekly wages guaranteed for four or five years.

This could set him up for life to live in one of the most fantastic cities in the world. Doesn’t sound that bad to me. And maybe he’s happy to be second fiddle to achieve this.

Good luck to him - wish I had that type of luck!

If he was going to a standard team to sit on the bench i would question it, but it IS Barcelona, not many people get the chance to play for them, so i wouldn't criticise him for going there.

I think you’re all missing the point. It’s up to Mignolet where he chooses to go. If he decides to go to Barcelona that’s up to him and all you’re doing is second guessing his reasons why. He’ll have his own reason for going to the team he does (if he does leave), there’s no way we can know for sure what they are.

I’m not criticising him if he goes to Barca. Just pointing out it’s contrary to his apparent unhappiness of being a bench player.

I'm with 87Red here, also not criticising, but does appear odd if his aim is 1st team starts.

I think ya'll are playing a bit to much couch psychologist. If you have a chance to go to Barca, then go. It's ok to change your mind when you have new information.

Have to say, the abuse and lack of respect reserved for our keepers is the one thing that has made me uncomfortable about being a Liverpool supporter over the last few years.

The (Kop lead) jeering and ironic cheers that could be heard in Anfield when both Karius and Migs were struggling was nothing short of shameful. I hope to God that Alisson doesn't start off poorly for us because the pressure we put our own keepers under will only end up one way.

I wish Migs all the best wherever he goes. Like every other Red who wore the jersey with honesty and sincerity, I hope he only gets better and regains the form that made us buy him in the first place.

If I was Mignolet I’d go to Barca. Might not play as much, but medals make up for that. Plus with the political situation in Turkey it’s hardly the safest place in the world.

Dudek did the same at Madrid. Had a decent career for them playing second fiddle. No shame in it imho.

The other thing you have to remember is that there’s the chance of playing alongside some of the best players in the world and in Messi one of the greatest players to have graced the game, who would not want an opportunity for that. Also maybe the Barcelona fans might not give him grief constantly and with a different goalkeeping coach he may actually improve. Most Liverpool fans don’t want him at the club then bitch and moan when it looks like a move may happen. Best of luck to him I say.
