ed002 has the interest in lovren gone or do you expect him to move before the window closes all so are rangers back in for kent see something about a loan to buy at the end of the season cheers again ed.

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed with Lovren really - the interest remains but Roma have looked at others as Liverpool want a straight sale. Besiktas see him as a cheap option but have not pushed as I under stand it and Milan see Devan Lovren (CB) as a cheap option to preferred targets given the significant issues there are in Milan but Liverpool rejected an approach. Bayer Leverkusen need to do something as they had a young English player as first choice and lost out, a young Welsh player as second choice but he is not really ready to step up and Laurent Koscielny as a back stop. DL is seen as a cheap back stop, and would rather someone younger and would likely want a loan.}

I'd hope that we can keep lovren for this season if he is willing to wait another year before moving on. He's a great experienced option to have as backup and with us pushing this season to finally win that elusive league I hope he can be convinced to play his part when needed with the promise that next summer he will be given full control to choose his future.

We won't be realistically seeing a massive difference in his financial worth over 12 months so unless he is adamant he wants out this summer it would be sensible to try and keep him for now. Another year of development with van den berg and Hoever might see them being ready next season to replace lovren as first team option and if not then we will have time to pursue signing a lovren replacement.

I guess it all hinges on lovrens personal wishes right now and we should respect his choice as he's been a good servant to the club over the years. Any idea ED what his standing is? Is he pushing for transfer this year or would he be willing to remain a squad player for another season?

{Ed002's Note - He is getting older and wants to play regularly.}

Considering his age, it should be a sale. If it's a loan, then it should be with an obligation to buy.

I have respect for him wanting to play regularly and looking to take a step down in quality of team to achieve that and fully support him if he wants out. He's still got a potential 4 or 5 years that he can play in a top league so I'm hoping he can decide to give us another year before departing, . I'm sure any potential transfer this summer hinges on whether klopp feels that one of the youngsters can be competent enough to be used.
