Hi Ed002 you previously mentioned that Liverpool had not thrown their hat in the ring regarding Kai Havertz, has this changed at all? Also as for Timo are you aware of any contact or negotiations between Liverpool and Leipzig. Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - (a) I am not aware of any change in relation to Kai Havertz (AM/RW) - Bayern Munich will likely move for KH if the option on Philippe Coutinho not taken up, but interest from elsewhere - particularly Barcelona (if Coutinho leaves), Manchester City (as a David Silva replacement) and Juventus. Interest of Milan will likely not go anywhere. Dortmund and PSG have both certainly spoken with his agent. Numerous other clubs have had scouts watch including Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid who have watched him on a number of occasions but either don't see the value in the price now or have other targets (where Chelsea and Real Madrid are concerned). Whether Liverpool wish to throw their hat in to the ring is another matter. Bayern value the player at €50M less than the €130M asking price. (b) Liverpool has been accused of disrupting the player and possibly having made an illegal approach could be forced in to buying the player. There has been no approach to RBL at this time and clearly they are unhappy with Liverpool.}

If RBL are unhappy with us surely that indicates we have tapped up another player. I really hope that isn't the case and it is just a big misunderstanding.

{Ed002's Note - As I have explained Oliver Mintzlaff asked Karlheinz Forster (the "agent" of Werner) about whether or not Klopp or anyone else from Liverpool (or any other club I would think) has spoken directly with Werner.}

Thanks Ed002. I presume if Liverpool are found guilty of tapping up we are talking a highly inflated fee? If Leipzig make it public could you see LFC pulling out of the deal (similar situation to Van Dijk), or would you assume Liverpool would be best to simply pay a higher fee, a way to smooth things over and diffuse any issues?

{Ed002's Note - There is no charge to be found guilty of and there is no "deal" at the moment. Also, Liverpool did not pull out of the deal for van Dijk - he signed (the tallish chap often stands in front of the goalkeeper when kicking off).

Oh yes I must have missed. I was referring to the public statement in the Summer made by LFC when Southampton made the 'tapping up' case apparent to the public. LFC claimed they would immediately end interest for the Summer, holding off until January to sign him. As for the idea about a deal, I should have phrased it: If there were to be a deal regarding Werner in the future, would you expect Liverpool to pay a higher fee, a way to smooth over relations if Leipzig are rightfully angry?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool got van Dijk to go on strike - which is the worst possible thing to do. I have no real idea what fee Werner will sell for, but RBL now have a player who has been disrupted, and that is never good.}

Thanks for the reply Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

Ed am I right in thinking it’s not been confirmed one way or another if there is any truth in the above?

{Ed002's Note - In what respect - there is no deal for Werner.}

Sorry Ed I meant not confirmed either way if there has been any approach legal or illegal.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained everything.}

Sorry Ed002 to ask but, am I right in thinking we can put the feelers to his agent but not the player, unless his club give permission. Also can Klopp speak to his agent or does it need to be reps for the club?

{Ed002's Note - There are no restrictions with talking to agents.}

Oh no when will we learn.

Looks to me like the player’s agent is trying to engineer him a move and judging by the amount of times he’s mentioned Liverpool I’d say we are his first choice.
I can’t see any evidence of us doing anything wrong here so let’s not start panicking over something that hasn’t even happened.
