I've been reading the thiago has agreed personal terms with Liverpool but we need to first raise funds to buy him. And nothing will happen until the cl is finished.

We must be highly confident of getting/ having the money for his transfer if we've agreed personal terms though right? It must be a done deal in all but formality. Of course nothing will be announced while the cl is still on but. I think it's done. I think he'll be playing for us next year, bar a big mess up (or injury)

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have illegally tapped up Thiago and Bayern Munich made it clear 10 days ago that was completely unacceptable - and they need to sell to raise the money. Now his head has been turned and wants to move it seems that Liverpool will not pay the asking price and will try and leverage a cheap move or leave Bayern Munich with a player who is unhappy and return for him in January when a Bosnam move can be arranged for next summer. This would be truly appalling behaviour again. Bayern Munich have spoken with two other interested sides - Manchester City have concerns about the age/price/injury status as others at Liverpool have raised; PSG are waiting to see what happens over another issue.}

I remember reading some time ago that one of the Bayern directors, when asked about Thiago, basically said, "We expected him to renew, but considering he has chosen not to, we believe he has already made arrangements elsewhere. "
Seems like he was talking about LFC.

Sad this is becoming a typical way in which the club handles transfers.

Ed can't we be fined and banned for this repeated behavior?
It doesn't bode well for the club both business and reputation wise.
I don't know why its not checked by FSG.

{Ed002's Note - If complaints are made to The FA or UEFA.}

This behavior is despicable and needs to stop. I’m not buying the “Klopp is naive, acts in good faith, everybody else does it”. He is a cheat and this must end. And, as a similar but worse event occurred with the 12yr old kid, along with the repeated offenses. it is not just a Klopp issue, but a club issue. Where are the fans’ initiatives, rallying, writing open letters/ articles, whatever?
The world is not binary. It’s not either or. I love Klopp and the owners seems to do a generally good job, so it is not about “someone out”, but “Pretty effing please, stop cheating and treat other clubs with respect they deserve. ” The club did it in regards to celebrating the league win. “You are our fans, we love you, but you are idiots to put people at risk! ” We should demand something similar.

Will we ever learn from past mistakes, clearly at some point it must hit home that we can not continue making enemies by pissing every other team off.

6.) 19 Aug 2020
19 Aug 2020 11:39:41
Yeah, just needs to stop. I genuinely don't understand why it's so hard for the Liverpool team to contact Bayern asking their permission to talk to the interested player and sort things out. City and Chelsea seem to do this very well and get their transfers done without any hiccups. Maybe this explains why it takes Liverpool and United ages to do anything half the time, they are constantly pecking at players to try and get them on the cheap. It's a shame, if Liverpool had Cities infrastructure, I think they'd dominate for years to come, but this horrible behaviour can't keep going on, all it does it burns bridges with teams in the future and I'm sure will come back to bite Liverpool.

7.) 19 Aug 2020
19 Aug 2020 11:42:58
We should get a transfer ban. Why aren't the other teams not lodging complaints to the authorities. We should be exposed and punished.

{Ed002's Note - Clubs simply want it to stop.}

8.) 19 Aug 2020
19 Aug 2020 12:10:48
Surely though ed, if it doesn't stop the clubs should now go to the authorities. Its beyond a joke.

9.) 19 Aug 2020
19 Aug 2020 12:23:54
Ed002 is proving tapping up difficult? I’m not advocating it as you can see from my previous comments, I don’t see why clubs are not filing the compliant it’s like lfc will never learn until they get there hands slapped.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have had their hands slapped before.}

10.) 19 Aug 2020
19 Aug 2020 12:27:30
This is nothing new in football, yes I don't agree with it but it's happened for years. Only difference now is we have a manager capable of turning players heads. Years ago we made Gerrard do it for us.

11.) 19 Aug 2020
19 Aug 2020 12:43:13
Same rubbish all the time tap up a player then the club he plays for set a price but LFC won’t pay it and leave a unhappy player stranded absolute W#%#%# carry on if u ask me! Pay the money after your tap up or f#%# off and you’ll be reported simple as!

12.) 19 Aug 2020
19 Aug 2020 12:32:20
Firstly agree with everyone about the tapping up, but surely the only way they would find out if it has happened is if either the player or his agent admits it, or the buying club.
Is this something they would do to engineer a move as otherwise it makes no sense.
Again I don't agree with it just wondering why they find out.
Not sure why we can't behave correctly as it's not hard to show someone we want them through their agent!

13.) 19 Aug 2020
19 Aug 2020 13:19:37
This is like groundhog day. this has been discussed again and again and again. I agree it's the wrong way to do business and I want us to sign thiago badly, as I think he offers real quality and something we haven't got but let's draw a line under the tapping up bs. please. It's been done and quite frankly is boring.

14.) 19 Aug 2020
19 Aug 2020 13:30:04
heya ed2 - who is responsible for cleaning up our approach to transfers?

{Ed002's Note - Klopp needs to have his phone taken away from him.}

15.) 19 Aug 2020
19 Aug 2020 13:42:03
I think you are all over thinking this. We have been lauding other signings we have made yet this potential signing we must be band or punished. let's not be naive would you all prefer we dealt with soton in a better way and not have Virgil, it may have been the same for Fabs and Becker but i'm sure you are all happy they are our players right now? All clubs do the same or similar things to gain an advantage. On a personal opinion it doesn't bother me but as always each to their own.

16.) 19 Aug 2020
19 Aug 2020 14:16:10
haha true. but in terms of who ultimately holds accountability of Klopp and Co. is that Michael Edwards? or the new CEO? The club obviously know this is happening and continues to happen. So I am imagining that Klopp is being empowered either directly or via silence, to do what he does. otherwise they'd reprimand him somehow wouldn't they? is that a fair summary?

{Ed002's Note - It would be Mike Gordon.}

17.) 19 Aug 2020
19 Aug 2020 14:35:41
thanks Ed. my sense is that the club are in a position of needing something remarkable to happen in order to change behaviour. I remember JOhn Henry made that comment along the lines of learning that contracts in football didn't mean anything. It was after the Suarez to Arsenal saga. That's not a verbatim quote but I wonder if there has been an attitude permeated throughout the club to contin ue in this way. I think a 1 or 2 year transfer ban or a new world where our transfer activity is so impacted by other clubs not wanting to do business with us, are the only things that may see change. I can't imagine there would be change in our approach out of our own volition without a significant external influence.

18.) 19 Aug 2020
19 Aug 2020 14:52:55
northbeasle - I think you can appreciate the players once they have arrived as well as critique our approach to how we recruited them. Then there are some of us who would accept a sanction if it came.

19.) 19 Aug 2020
19 Aug 2020 15:04:26
Like I said faith. just my opinion.

Lets hope he taps up the next Bobby, Sadio and Mo eh!

Just banter everyone before I get slaughtered! :)

20.) 19 Aug 2020
19 Aug 2020 16:06:20
Maybe teams just need to stand to us they will not deal with us until we clean up our act.

21.) 19 Aug 2020
19 Aug 2020 22:33:18
NB - wasn't criticizing you mate. For me it just comes down to principle and how we want our club operated, or at least how we would like to think our club are operating. I definitely think there is space in this world for massive entities like Liverpool to act with a bit of class.

22.) 19 Aug 2020
19 Aug 2020 22:40:56
Naive to think we’re the only ones doing it, hence why it isn’t being challenged. When it is challenged and found to be only us, I’ll happily concede the point.

I saw the other day on several Facebook pages, This is Anfield inclusive, that Liverpool were annoyed at the way Jamal Lewis' agent/ representative had behaved. I commented on the post hinting at the fact Liverpool were being rather hypocritical if true given our recent handling of transfers. Citing the numerous illegal tapping up of players such as VVD and Werner. I merely suggested those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones when talking about being respectful.

The abuse i received was astronomical. So it is clear that to some, not all, if we act out of hand and tap up player it is fine. If the likes of Barcelona tap up our players. then that is wrong.

You guys are spending way too much time in minor details that no one here is familiar with.
In Klopp I trust.

I agree completely that it's poor actions if we work transfers against the rules. Just curious though what the difference is to how United had agreed everything for Bruno F while yet to agree a deal with sporting. De ligt seemed to spend the summer talking and working deals with any club who wished despite Ajax always stating no club has put forward the offer required. Griezzman seemed to openly have shook hands with Barcelona while atletico were shouting for an offer yet to be made. Courtois seemed like he had everything tied up long before Chelsea could get the fee they demanded. Sir Alex always has stories told by players who said he rang them first to share his interest. Mahrez was after many talks with man city despite Leicester refusing to give the go ahead.

I'm far from in the know regarding any of those transfers but where is the crucial line that we're crossing that others aren't also?

{Ed002's Note - I don't understand why you struggle to understand something that has been explained over and over again. Clubs cannot approach and speak directlty to a player without the permission of the selling club. These posts trying to defend those who cheat are getting embarrassing. We can keep dragging this on as long as you like.}

cruicially we need to do the simple thing of asking permission. something most of us teach our kids from a very very very early age.
