Hi Ed002. Sorry, I have tried searching but given there are so many references to them, it's like trawling through some heavy archives.

I've been talking with someone about the possibility of Sarr signing (which I'm not here to debate, as nothing has been really confirmed yet) . He is adamant that offers/ enquiries have been made about Mane and Salah to depart this transfer window. I thought that he's talking balony as I haven't seen you mention it, but he's adamant.

I know there was talk earlier of an enquiry about Mane by Barca, but that went away.

Has there been any concrete enquiries regarding moves for Salah or Mane this transfer window?

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona dis not make the enquiry, Mane's representatives did knowing Barcelona's plan for their attacking players over the next year. I would not expect to see him or Salah leave this summer.}

I wouldn’t have a problem with Mane going to Barcelona next summer. We have just signed Thiago in part because he wanted a new challenge, Mane would have given us 5 seasons by next summer and nobody could blame him if he wanted to try somewhere new. He has always given 100% and has been a big part of us winning our 6th European Cup and first title for 30 years. If he wanted to leave next summer he would go with my blessing.

I have no inside information or clues whatsoever to understand what the transfer activity will be. But just from what I think are the factors at play I can't see the possibility at all that mane or salah will depart this year. Both are at the peak of their powers, have just won European cup and the league which was historic for our club, both are contending for golden boot titles in arguably the best league, both are under contract that gives Liverpool no reason to rush a sale, both players are loved within the club and no issues of conflict evident, both players still a few years left in their 20s and we are in power to demand a huge transfer fee. Any club that can offer that kind of money currently not as attractive in terms of strength so I just can't envisage how a deal could arise over next 2 weeks where we even receive an offer nevermind accepting it and see the player eager to leave.

Whatever the future holds who knows but we are in such a position of strenght while others are having struggles to a degree I don't see us letting any star player leave particularly when there has been no issues in terms of those players being unsettled or looking to move right now. Just look at how salah and mane started this season as proof that they are well focused on achieving another successful season for liverpool.

Barca and Real are banjaxed. Both deep in debt but because they took huge C.V. loans from the spanish Govt, they have to repay those Govt loans before they can take on any more Debt (The only way they could afford to buy anyone) Effectively they are both out of the running to buy mega-stars. Barcelona can't afford Gini even at the ridiculously low transfer fees being quoted. They are in such a bad way that both are off-loading big earners for buttons
Spanish state sponsored football is now out in the open and might never return.

Ed002, is it true that La Liga prohibited Barcelona from buying players (e. g. Gini) due to FFP as reports suggest?

{Ed002's Note - No, it is not really like that, someone has misunderstood. The clubs with FFP issues need to address those first and then can buy and sell but the books have to be balanced. Any payments from prior purchases and any payments due on loans have to be paid first. Real Madrid are having to raise €190M and saved wages in sales to address such payments and to cover losses associated with the Coronavirus. Then if there is money left they can start buyin. This all exludes exchanges but Barcelona need to significantly reduce their wage bill going forward. The authorities do get a percentage of sales (within certain bounds) to help with the grass roots game which is taken as a tax.}

With fans not back till March 2021, how are clubs going to pay wages? Worrying times for football clubs especially those with high wage bills and those without major merchandise sales. LFC seems to have high wages bills and many ‘extra’ players in the books.

{Ed002's Note - They will use income from broadcasters and sponsors. The clubs who live on the edge will suffer, as will those accumuating future debt. Clubs are aware of this but there is concern that a number of Premier League sides are not acting responsibly.}

Not sure how exactly is Real going to raise £190 mill from sales. A lot of their players are too old to generate anything significant in the transfer fee or they are on massive wages. they seem doomed. If this remains how would they sign Mbappe next summer ED02?

{Ed002's Note - I guess you don't understand the situation and what is happening.}

"Yes, you don't understand. And this is the Liverpool page. " Have to say, that sums up pretty much all of Harry's posts rather neatly.

Is this why we see Barcelona pushing the likes of Suarez, rakitic and Vidal out the door for hardly any sort of fee. Are they forced to get the high earners off their books as quick as possible? Same with Madrid not messing about and shipping out bale and James Rodriguez both of which on huge salaries. Is this a result of previous years where their transfer failings have finally caught up with them in terms of not being a sustainable way towards recruitment?

Salah/ Mane will not leave this window but the discussions with other clubs will begin. These kinds of transfers don't happen overnight.

Both legends for what they have accomplished, and perfectly natural they will seek new challenges. And the next year or so will be our last chance to get big money for them.

They cannot be allowed to run down their contracts, that's for sure.

My predictions: Salah to PSG, Mane to Real/ Barca.
