Hi Ed002,

Will there likely be big transfers at Lfc this summer?

Meaning, will we go for a CB and sell Matip? If so, who?

With Gini maybe leaving, aging Milner and the unreliability of Ox and Keita, will we go for a Mid? If so, who?

Origi is clearly not up to it and Shaq is horribly unfit, would we need proper 9?

Finally, will the front 3 be reaching their end?

Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - Much will depend on the finances and sales. It will also depend on whether Klopp wants a starter along side van Dijk, because the players added are not really at that level. I suspect that Konate will perhaps be the target really wanted but RBL are expecting Upameccano to leave and won't want to lose both. It also depends where else the club want to strengthen - if Wijnaldum does not sign a new contract he needs replacing unless Grujic is going to be given a chance - which seems unlikely. At some point one of the front three will go and someone else added.}

Why is Grujic not been given a chance? I don't get us buying young talented players then leave them to rot. not right and not fair.

{Ed002's Note - It has not gone right for him - when he joined there were several options but Klopp promised him the earth and then lied to the commitee overseeing the special application for a Work Permit that Grujic would be in the first team squad and a regular starter.}

Some of his decisions on young players are questionable but it can be attributed to the pressure of delivering trophies.

{Ed001's Note - instead of your usual back stabbing attacks on Klopp, that you have become so fond of recently, why don't you actually find out why Grujic never got a chance? He didn't get one because he wasn't putting in effort in training. He got farmed off to Cardiff and was publicly called out for a lack of effort on a couple of occasions while there. The fault lies squarely with Grujic that he never made the most of his opportunity, no one else. Nothing to do with your comments at all. Sometimes when you know nothing, it is better not to try and pretend you have knowledge or you just end up with egg on your face.}

I never mentioned grujic. But ofcourse it can be twisted that way to suit a narrative.

{Ed001's Note - a narrative? You replied to a post about Grujic. Some times I just give up. It is ridiculous whines like this from hypocritical people complaining about things being twisted when they are the ones twisting them that make me not bother with this site.}

We likely sign Kabak if he impresses in the next few months and that will be it in the CB department for this summer due to money issues. Unless Matip goes of course
Bissouma seems the best fit to replace Gini in terms of quality, affordability and type of player. Again, we may need to offload Grujic plus Keita/ Ox to pay the Bissouma fee. Or maybe Keita gets another season to be the Gini replacement which he was supposed to be in the first place.
The attack definitely needs a refresh. Sell Origi, Shaq, one of the front 3 and maybe Taki to bring in 2 quality versatile forwards.

Eds1 can I ask your honest opinion on who should be moved on and replaced in the summer if we had the right money. Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - moved on is Keita, Shaq, Gini, Grujic and Matip. Ox I would give more time to, because he has shown he has something to offer if he can stay fit. Something different from the rest as well with his runs at pace from midfield and powerful shot.

Ins would be Bissouma. Hopefully hold on to Phillips and actually use him. The rest would depend on who else leaves the club. For instance if Salah or Mane left, then a player such as Raphinha. Obviously the dream would be Mbappe to replace one of them but that does seem pie in the sky.

Then it is a case of trying to identify some upgrades on players we do have, if possible. Like a Bissouma to replace Gini is a clear upgrade, but while players are in contract so their sale can pay for the replacement.}

Ed001,

I agree with Matip, Shaq, Milner (because of his age) and to an extent the players on loan must be sold. I have doubts about Ox just based on his serious injuries. I watched at the end of the Brighton game and he looked in pain. Im also worried that VVD and Gomez might not give us 60 games in a season. Having said that, would we not need another CB as well as the new boys who came in Jan?

I know you do not rate Keita and justifiably so but his technically better than most of our mids, if he can sustain his fitness, both he and Thiago will solidify our midfield. I would rather we let go of Gini and Milner for Bissouma and give Jones more chances in midfield.

With Shaq and Origi not being an upgrade or competition for our front 3, would not Elliot and Takumi fill in that void?

Thank you.

{Ed001's Note - Keita is a lazy get, he has to be first out with his huge wages. It is lunacy to keep Keita.}

Ed, Who other than the obvious two could afford one of Mane or Mo?
Are AM or Juve able/ willing to spend that kind of money?
It seems like it could be time to let one go and buy mid range and develop again. Obviously i concur re Mbappe but he seems destined for RM, even if ZZ leaves.
I like the look of Car and heard we wanted him as well as the two we signed, knowing that Davies will turn a profit if he doesn't make the grade.

{Ed001's Note - Bayern Munich, possibly the Milan sides if they get the investment they expect to have. Maybe Wrexham now....}

I still feel as well Ox has something to offer but that lad from Brighton Ed001 could we afford him?

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea, but I hope so as he is a fantastic player.}

In terms of Mane or Salah leaving. Is there any club likely to be able to afford either of them in the current climate. Barcelona Real and Atletico all seem to have major financial issues. With Barcelona and Madrid not really having the players to sell to make the funds either. Bayern I presume would have plenty of money along with PSG or would they have difficulties with FFP. Secondly with FFP due to the goings on of the last year and C.V. will FFP be a bigger factor as even the super rich clubs like PSG and City would be losing revenue so even if they have money to buy players could FFP effect their business. Thanks in advance and fke all the hard work you guys do. let's hope we get a couple of big results this week coming for Klopp and his mum. Its embarrassing the stick he gets on here and in the media after what he's done for us in the last 5 years and hopefully will do for the next 5. No manager I would rather have in the world.

{Ed002's Note - There are clubs that can afford both players but what is missing is the desire of any club to buy them. Real Madrid and Barcelona have plenty of players who are available to be sold and others with significant wages who will be leaving as Free Agents. But they have other prioritites. Bayern Munich are looking to add two CBs in the summer and have some other shopping they would also like to do so there won't be a lot of spare money. Manchester City are looking to some high-end shopping in the summer and have no interest in Mane or Salah. PSGs plans are fairly well set although can be expected change slightly with the change of coach and the huge losses in Ligue 1 have to be kept in mind. FFP has not gone away but the reporting period have been adjusted - clubs need to continue to be fiscally responsible.}

I feel sorry for OX when he got injured he was our best midfielder, on top of his game. I really worry he will never be the same again, we do need a player like a fit OX.

Bissouma can certainly get round the park and looks excellant at winning the ball back. I have watched him a limited amount but his passsing looks limited to me, sort of Gini level. We do need some increased energy though and he certainly has that.

11.) 11 Feb 2021
11 Feb 2021 14:01:41
Ed001 - see the mention of Raphinha as a replacement for Salah or Mane. Not really seen too much of him but does look like he could really be suited to the league after the last few games with Leeds. Would you prefer him over Sancho for example, forgetting the price tag he would obviously cost, and excluding Mbappe from the picture as he looks to be impossible to sign other than for PSG or Madrid.

{Ed001's Note - he is better than Sancho, I don't get the hype with him. Hugely talented but is completely up his own backside and has shown what a selfish little bell end he is over the last year or so.}

I agree with the outs, Origi not on your out list Ed? A fair bit of work to do in the Summer.

{Ed001's Note - good point, I forgot him. I think he needs to move on now.}

13.) 11 Feb 2021
11 Feb 2021 14:58:16
Ed001 - I noticed you didn't include Origi in your outs list. Do you think he should still be at the club next season? He has scored some big goals for the club in his time but it seems to me he needs to go somewhere where he can get a regular run in the team.

Also, his, albeit limited, playing time could be replaced by Elliott.

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - I just forgot about him mate.}

Thanks for the reply eds1. Are you ok with keeping origi then. I’ve never liked him to be honest just purely down to him being lazy.

{Ed001's Note - I don't think it makes much difference if he stays or goes in the real scheme of things.}

15.) 11 Feb 2021
11 Feb 2021 17:10:58
Do you not think we'd need another midfielder if Shaq, Keita, Gini, Grujic were to leave? Especially with Milner being another year older.

I agree on Bissouma but can't help but think we need a proper goal scoring midfielder as well.

{Ed001's Note - next season is not likely to be like this one, so we won't need quite so many midfielders (not that Keita is ever fit or that Grujic has ever been available so not sure they count). Jones will be a year older too, but that is a bonus and I was hoping Ox might get back somewhere near his best + hopefully another youngster will come through.}

16.) 11 Feb 2021
11 Feb 2021 18:20:22
Hopefully we won't spent the summer pricing our players out of deals that should really happen again. The likes of keita, grujic, Wilson, shaqiri etc are so rarely available that any reasonable offer needs to be considered even if we only get enough from them combined to bring in one player - that's still better than what we had.

17.) 11 Feb 2021
11 Feb 2021 18:53:58
Why would Klopp promise Grujic in the first place if he knows it all depends on Grujic's performance in training?

18.) 11 Feb 2021
11 Feb 2021 23:27:52
I can’t understand the lovin some of our fans have for keita, I’m all for showing support to our players but he seems to be untouchable to some and I never understood it, he be first on my list out the door.

I agree with ed2 about the outs but would love to see mbappe at the club. Wasn't there trouble at juve when they bought Ronaldo for huge money but made it back i shirt sale in neary a week. Surely we could do something like that especially with Nike as sponsors.

{Ed002's Note - I think perhaps you misunderstand the value of shirt sales to most clubs. I rather suspect it will be very difficult to sign Mbappe. There has been a number of discussions and a conoluted proposal made that should suit all parties - and that does not include Liverpool I am afraid.}

Hey Ed001,

You mentioned that hopefully another youngster will step up in the midfield, who of the current youngsters in the club to you think that could be?
I haven’t seen much of the academy games lately, but maybe Cain or Clarkson or another one?

Your input is very appreciated as always!

{Ed001's Note - Clarkson was the one given the run out in the cup, so most likely him.}

With so many outs who are rarely available due to injury and on loan and won't be given a chance, let's hope that we get better replacements. Our team is burnt out because of over playing some players. We need a top squad of 16 players with the rest being made up of promising youngsters and so on.

Teams like Utd, Chelsea, City, Arsenal have strong squads whereas we rely solely on our first 11. Its time we are able to compete for the 4 trophies without diluting our quality.
