Fabrizio Romano has said he expects a surprise from Liverpool in the market. Ed002's surprise is back on.

I think we may have to wait a bit for the surprise though - Romano also said he 100% expects outgoings first - Origi, Shaqiri, Gruijic and Wilson.
I wonder if Keita will still be here at the close of the window?

£25M is a very good price for Keita now, imo. No idea what we would be looking for but I can't imagine clubs willing to take a chance on him at much more than that.
He would be better off leaving now and we could do with the money too.

Everyone is saying expect a surprise because just like last year, and most of the last few summers nearly all our signings go under the radar till the last minute.

Berardi would be a very decent signing. I know we’ve not had the best of luck with Italian players, but that has to change at some point, he’s got all the qualities that Klopp likes, he’s hard working, versatile as he can play out wide or through the middle, technically very good and he has decent end product (he’s scored and assisted in double figures for both of the last two seasons) . Additionally he’s on record as saying that if he moved outside of Italy he’d favour a move to us.
He said “Being able to choose, I would play in Liverpool. Changing remains difficult for me, but it no longer frightens me, I would do it. â€
I hope we go for this lad as he’d be a very decent acquisition.

If it's going to be a surprise then I hope it's one of Barella or Chiesa. We could use either one. But I know one of the front 3 would have to leave for Chiesa to be brought in.

It won’t be either of Chiesa or Barella. Juve have an obligation to sign him and there’s no way they’re parting with him for less than £100m. Inter don’t want to sell Barella.

At this point wouldn't it be better to let Keita go nearly for free? and just reduce the wages you have, dude can barely play 10 games a season, seems a bit of a wage drain for someone you could just replace with a youngster.

Thats as vague as it comes and what would constitute a surprise? Some fans think Mbappe is a possibility do not spending silly money on a big name player could be a surprise to them.
