Hi eds,

Has there been any clubs interested in taking Ban Woodburn on loan?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Sheffield Wednesday and probably others have a declared interest in taking him on loan.}

Is Liverpool looking to sell or are they happy with a loan? has he ever made an impact at any of the clubs he's been loaned to? I always forget about BW.

{Ed002's Note - They will sell if they can but that seems unlikely.}

Ed002 I think am right that he has only got 1 year left on his contract I can’t see anybody paying any sort of fee for him as he has not done anything on his other loans. Think the club should let him leave for a no fee transfer and put a sell on clause if anybody shows any interest in him if it works out everybody wins.

{Ed002's Note - Yes but typically clubs will ask the player to sign a 1 year extension if they are going to be loaned. His value is low regardless.}

Yeah, he has struggled to make any impact at league 1 level and he’s not a baby anymore. Not a chance he has a future at Liverpool and he’s got a fight on his hands to even make it at championship level imo.

He gave it the big one at Sheff utd and since then it has been downhill.

He may not make it here, but I think banning him is a little excessive.

Yeah his not going to make top flight football that’s why we should next expect to much from are youngsters. He was another one that was going to be the next big thing and not to many turn out like that.

It was the fans who said Woodburn was the next big thing based on a couple of cameo appearances when he was about 12 and the grown ups were injured. Spot on that the expectation on kiddies is way over-hyped.

Think he's being a little unlucky with injuries too in fairness. If he can put his injuries behind him he'll have a decent career.

What happened to him. Ojo. Ibe. They all had the coaching. The backing. I’m ready to put Wilson there too. Am I wasting my time looking at Cain, Gordon, Billie the Kid and numerous others each preseason seems our next Fowler/ Owen/ Sterling/ Gomez/ Gerrard?

GT, Ibe had mental health and depression issues that stifled him. It’s pretty tragic what happened to him. Don’t know about the others.

Oh. Ouch. Never knew about Ibe. Thinking back his persona Rarely looked excited or happy. Explains a lot. Shame.

If memory serves me correctly, it was Klopp who was praising and hyping the kid (Woodburn) in interview after interview after interview, that first preseason. They jinxed the poor kid. 😔.

Woodburn had bio-mechanical issues which contributed to injuries that have derailed his career. Maybe a move to Italy might work for him but certainly seems like his career is going nowhere fast atm.

{Ed0666's Note - what’s a bio mechanical issue?

GT I think the simple answer is the step up from u21 to premier league is much bigger than we all assume, both in terms of ability but also mentally. Of the 2-3 kids that look amazing at u21 every season and are hyped as the ‘next big thing’ very very few are genuinely capable of making the next step to elite level.
