Ed002. I read that Wolves are interested in Guedes of Valencia. Yesterday you mentioned that of the names linked with Liverpool Adama Traore is the more likely player to join Liverpool assuming LFC offload a number of players and they can agree on a fee with Wolves. Is Guedes a replacement for Traore? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Find it hard to believe that clubs do not have a moment of awareness and think logically. No One Else amongst our peers are looking at or after or bid for him. Tells you something surely. I hope our staff can teach old dogs.

Anyone else seriously in for Traore Ed?

{Ed002's Note - They expect interest from Spurs.}

Come on Spurs, spend some of that Harry Kane money (badly)! You know you want to!

Don’t be too hasty to judge grobs tash if he joins give the lad a chance
Their is definitely talent in their maybe he needs coached in a certain way maybe it’s mentality needs working on or composure in front of goal
1 thing for sure is the lad is rapid and a handful on his day the coaches job to make them days a regular thing.

Klopp would play Traore as an ACM if he were to come to Liverpool. He’s not going to displace the Fab 3.

6.) 19 Aug 2021
19 Aug 2021 21:36:59
Minamino has had little to no impact on our team, Shaqiri too, Origi has but hasn't, if you really think Traore can't come in and do better than them just because it suits the agenda then really you guys need to wake up. He is rapid, strong, young enough to learn, he will give us a lot more than the aforementioned and will be willing to rotate. Give him a chance if he is who we get.

Trust Klopp. he actually turned"crap"like Robertson, Gini, Salah and Manè into decent cogs in the machine.

The mental gymnastics being done here to try and big Traore up are incredible.

Dhfc, they certainly couldn’t coach composure into him, at his age he’s as good as he’s ever will be, he was at La Masia, and if they couldn’t do it, then no one can as they literally focus on technical ability and being composed at vital moments which kind of explains why Barcelona were so happy to get shot of him.

At his age he’s not going to suddenly burst into a 10 goal a season forward, I’d wager heavily that he will NEVER score double figures in a league season in the premier league.

Being rapid is fine when you’re playing against teams that leave space to run into, but how often do we face teams like that? Hardly ever. Most teams park the bus in which his grease enhanced talents would be ineffective.

If we buy him he’ll be a waste of money of Markovic proportions.

19 Aug 2021 23:19:22
Jadon, none of Gini, Salah, Mane or Robertson were “crap” when we bought them, there’s some serious false equivalency going on there.

Both Salah and Mane were scoring double figures in their respective sides in the two years preceding joining us.

Robertson was one of the best (and most under rated) left back’s playing in the premier league, a widely accepted fact.

Gini had been Newcastle’s stand out player and leading goalscorer the season before he joined us, double figures as far as I’m aware.

There were tangible reasons for signing each of those players. There are however none with Traore. He doesn’t score goals, he doesn’t create them, his passing is poor, his shooting is even worse. Literally all he can do is grease himself up and run head down at oncoming defenders, which is pointless against teams that park the bus.

I cannot think of one situation where we struggled last season where he could have made a difference.

As long as he plays professional football at premier league level, he’ll never score double figures.

I think he’d be excellent for us. Coming off the bench like a jet fuelled Tank twice a season vs Man City.

I get those old Babel vibes with Traore - fast, strong, useless in the final third. Maybe coaching can help, we've done it before, but I'd be very surprised.

{Ed0666's Note - am I the only one not perturbed by Traore signing? I very much doubt he will tho.

If all he has is this super pace, cause really looking at career it’s certainly neither goals or assists that are in top brackets. Pace is stopped by injuries and age. Quality then plays on with skill and vision. Traore has neither of those. He’s a hamstring away from being worthless and we don’t have bottomless pockets. We require a better level of player much better.

Spot on Jason.

We’re you on holiday when we bought Robbo VVVV? There were a great number of contributors to this very site who expressed concerns - why buy anybody from a relegated team and the £9 million fee was an outrage. By Christmas it had turned into a waste of money, if he was mentioned as he hadn’t played a game. By April he had become a bargain and by summer h3 had never put a foot wrong and had been a shining light in the Hull side and he had become the best left back in the world.

Since then he has become an untouchable and I guess everybody who had doubts had gone to live in the Lucas Leive appreciation society rest home?

Mane had attitude problems, only played when he wanted to and didn’t fit in.

Salah was a failure at Chelsea and would never make the grade in the EPL and was a waste of money

Wijnaldum was a journeyman, hadn’t stood out in a poor Newcastle team, was la y, didn’t track back and was a waste of money for someone nowhere near the starting team

Lots and lots of us had reservations about one or more of the players - including me.

On the other side of the coin, there was great joy when it was announced we had signed Kieta (I guess you were on your hold for that one too VVVV? )

Past experience teaches us …… nothing really. As Mr Gump said, buying players is like a box of chocolates - you don’t know what you get until they actually have a kick about with the rest of the lads ….

Honestly I’m not worried about Traore. I think he could really push us on. I only think it strange given Harvey elliots progression. But, I guess the club is thinking post Bobby/ salah/ mane.

I’d be happy with Traore, I think he could be the player Ox was before his bad injury.

Traore will be a star under Klopp. His pace and physicality will create more space for the other attackers. Will be delighted if we manage to sign him.

{Ed0666's Note - I think Traore is the archetypal Marmite player.

Vvvv
You make some good points but talk some nonsense at the same time
So basically because Barcelona let him go at 16 he was never going to be any good
I suppose that fabregas was no good either on that logic
And as for coaching and improving later in career we should have never went near Aldridge and vardy should of been left in the lower leagues

I get he’s no mbappe or haaland in terms of numbers but I think he improves our squad he’s better than shaq and will be more effective than origi coming on late in games.

People naturally base opinions of a player from their performances from their current club when they are a target. This only really works when a club plays a similar style of football to us though, Which is not that common. Most incoming players take 6 months min to settle in. It is reasonable then to think the recruitment team see things they like about a player that would fit our system that perhaps we don’t? They are professionals after all, funny old thing. I trust Klopp and the recruitment team. If they really want Traore then I hope they succeed in bringing him in. Hell if they want to bring Titus Bramble out of retirement then I hope they succeed. They know far more about football, coaching and potential than any of us so if they want Traore, as ed002 has said we do, then so do I. It’s that simple.

20.) 20 Aug 2021
20 Aug 2021 07:47:45
Same could be said for you doing mental gymnastics VVVV constantly saying you dislike him.

Look at the LFC "fans" once more being the almighty know-it-alls and already writing off Adama. shame on you lot.

Let's just enjoy the ride with Klopp whilst he's here and let's see what he, and the coaching team, is able to do with Adama. IF he joins.

22.) 20 Aug 2021
20 Aug 2021 09:24:08
Adama Traore or saving some dough for next summer. I would choose the next summer. However, on his day he is a handful and almost unbeatable in pace but Origi has better stats than him. Sigh. I am not sure if spending 30m on him just to cover the big boys in the African Cup is worth it. Jota - Bobby - Traore can hold the fort. sigh. I can't decide.

23.) 20 Aug 2021
20 Aug 2021 05:59:41
Absolutely Ed666. Its telling though that coaches like Klopp, Bielsa and Enrique are keen on him and he's been schooled in La Masia. He can be used as an inside forward, traditional winger or as a striker. In emergencies perhaps at RB even. His profile is completely different to what we have and as a replacement for Shaqiri and/ or Origi probably the best choice.

24.) 20 Aug 2021
20 Aug 2021 07:22:13
Ed0666 you very much doubt we will sign him. Are you thinking like me now in that we have our lot with no more incomings? Our targets have been dismissed one by one and the season has already started.

{Ed0666's Note - apparently Spurs might be keen on Adama and I think we’ll get someone under the radar. That’s my guesstimate anyway.

25.) 20 Aug 2021
20 Aug 2021 10:18:19
Traore has been in the Prem for 3 seasons now, 131 games and he's mustered 10 goals in all this time. TEN.
This is not some 21yr old learning his trade, finding his feet in the league, this is a guy who spent his formative years at La Masia receiving some of the best coaching available and is now approaching 26yrs old. There has been no upward trajectory with him where we’ve decided to pick him up before he explodes into the scene. In his best goalscoring season ever he hit 6. That’s what Minamino hit last season. Surely there’s better options out there across Europe.

26.) 20 Aug 2021
20 Aug 2021 11:06:02
That lad Klopp must be some idiot.
How does he not see all this clearly like you lads do?
#KloppOut.

27.) 20 Aug 2021
20 Aug 2021 13:19:47
Slight overreaction from some regarding Traore. We all know he’s not got the greatest end product but as someone else wisely said here neither did Ronaldo in his early days. It’s surprising what a bit of hard work and good coaching can do. Not bowled over if we do sign him but I’ve learned from the Ox signing that sometimes Klopp and co know best.

28.) 20 Aug 2021
20 Aug 2021 13:56:22
If Traore was 19/ 20 you may have a point but he’s approaching 26 with several Prem league seasons under his belt. There is no comparison with Ronaldo in his early days.

29.) 20 Aug 2021
20 Aug 2021 14:27:16
I thought he was younger than that. Still I stand by my point. Surely playing with and learning from world class players and having the very best coaching can improve him. I was dead against the Ox signing but was happy to eat humble pie after he changed my mind.

As I said still not convinced (my choice would be Saint Maximin) but I’ve learned to trust those who know better.

30.) 20 Aug 2021
20 Aug 2021 14:51:38
Just my 2 pence but i think we will sign Sarr instead, who will be bled into the team over the coming season, in preparation for when Mane is sold next year. I can't see Traore happening, and to be honest i hope it doesn't. Yes he's quick and has brawn but that's all IMO, and for what circa £35-40 mil? Sarr looks like he has more about him tbh.

31.) 20 Aug 2021
20 Aug 2021 16:32:17
Literally he was coached from an early age by the very best and played with the very best at Barcelona and yet he still can’t his a cows arse with a banjo from less than 1 yard away. The currency that forwards are judged on is creating chances that lead to goals and more fundamentally, actually scoring goals. Which he does neither. The man is turning 26 within 6 months, he’s as good as he is going to be, no amount of coaching and training is going to correct his technical deficiencies. As the old saying goes, you can’t make a silk purse out of a sows ear and the £40m that Wolves want is better saved for a rainy day than wasted on a player who is literally worse than the walking joke that is Jesse Lingard.

{Ed0666's Note - let’s spend the money on Ndombele!!!! He’s leaving Spurs it seems. That will bring down the average age of our midfield and we’ll have a great player to boot. Thiago, fab, hendo and Ndombele would be a terrific quartet. Pick 3 out of for if those???
