Hi Eds, are we still in contract negotiations with Lyon to sell Shaquiri, has there been any breakthroughs. I seem to be reading about this story for the past 2/ 3 weeks.

{Ed002's Note - The clubs are a long way apart of price.}

If they sell cornet or aour then they can pay the £12m so no need to rush.

If you can give details. they want for 6M euros and we want around 10M?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool want €15M and Lyon value him at less than half of that.}

I know we might have pushed our luck with valuations but less than €8m for Shaq? Come on.

Did they not watch the Euros? I’m sorry but €15m for a player of Shaq’s quality is more than fair.
I’d rather keep him than get our pants pulled down like that!

If they value him at less than that then laugh at them. Keep him for another year then no need to buy another attackeŕ. that's a pathetic valuation outa them.

{Ed002's Note - They have other options and income from two more sales - they certainly won't be worried about the Liverpool fans laughing at them.}

This is the same club that have a different price for English clubs when selling their own players. Let them look else where.

7.5mil is crazy valuation for Shaq imo but it's not my money lol.

Surely if we are that far apart in negotiations we need to pull out.

{Ed0666's Note - you talking about my sex life again?

Very, very good Sir😂.

Ed 2. couldn't care less whether they care about liverpool fans. That valuation and offer is nothing short of a joke. Shaq is easily a 15-25m pound player easily. Always different when we are in forone of theirs. Tell them to fook off. End of.

{Ed002's Note - That is the attitude that results in Liverpool not being able to sell players and Klopp not getting the players he really wants.}

I think prices are currently going pre Neymar to PSG when they were a bit normal and sane, atleast until this C.V. complication is over which is likely to be 2-3 years.

Ed02. That hints that you would accept the deal they are offering. How do you defend accepting a low price for him when most people think he is worth more?

{Ed002's Note - It is fine, Liverpool can keep him and not add anyone else that Klopp wants instead. There are few that would value him at £25M.

I just think that we have to be sensible about such things. We utterly ripped some teams off for the price we got for players like Solanke, Brad Smith, etc

And big players have also moved for very small sums before like Evra, Alderwereld.

Ed.002 Are you of the opinion that £15M is an overvaluation of Shaqiri value? I understand what you are saying about allowing players to leave in order to gain funds for players that Klopp wants.

Recently we have been talking about Philips worth using White as a bench mark. Now, we are looking at Shaq, a full international who showcased his talents at the Euros. I think the majority of us are trying to look at this without the red tinted glasses and genuinely believe the player has a reasonable price tag on him. We respect your point of view as someone who is in the business of the game and not a fan of the club. So, do you really believe Liverpool are overvaluing him?

{Ed002's Note - £15M is more than clubs will pay - and he certainly is not worth the £25M one supporter suggested. There were no takers with the €15M (which will be around £13M) asking price making two interested sides walk away. The one offer Liverpool have had is for slightly less than half of the asking price. Again Liverpool asked an unreasonable price for Taiwo Awoniyi and had to reduce it significantly to sell him - and Grujic was priced out of a move and went on loan.

I have no idea folks want to try and price Phillips using Ben White as a bench mark or how that makes any sense at all.

Departures this summer have raised about half of the Konate fee - that is it. Efforts have been made to sell others to fund the likes of Sanches and a versatile forward but have gone nowhere. Last summers transfers are yet to be paid for in full. Klopp knows he has to do more with the players he has at his disposal and would need the club to take on more debt to cover any further transfer dealings - which they might consider doing - but players need to move on first.}

Hi Ed.002, thanks for taking the time to reply. Much appreciated.

I guess like in all walks of life, it's only too expensive if it doesn't sell. If someone is willing to pay the price then its a reasonable price. Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Right.}

I would look at it differently if you're looking at an ageing player who hardly plays for you, hardly makes an impact beyond select games and is mostly taking up a space on your bench. If you don't sell him now, you're foregoing the 7.5 Million that you're getting as an offer and also paying him his wages of 4 Million before he walks away for free next summer. That's a total of 11.5 Million that you're giving up to keep him at the club.

Take the 7.5 Million now, invest it in a young player who will cost far less in wages too, for at least a few years. I'm aware there's a business model to try to always make a profit on player sales but models have to be adapted to market conditions. He may have been worth 25 Million when he joined us (we got a bargain then) but he is no bargain anymore.
