Apparently we've agreed to sign Kounde from Sevilla for 75 million this month. another CB! I'm calling BS LOL.

Not happening.

Why would we be looking to sign another central defender? That's one position that we definitely don't need reinforcements.

LOL yes Konaté and Koundé at the back with van Dijk and Matip on the bench. Brilliant plan, let's gooooo.

I could believe it if Jo Go is sold for 40m.
Bremer was a target as was Demiral, who are quite different to Konate. We actually bid 50m for Demiral.

It’s embarrassing the list of players we get linked to!
Journalists know like all us we’ve not got a washer!

Another CB? Salah must be leaving.

Gomez and Philips to leave, Matip to be 4th choice. Still doesn't make much sense lol.
Maybe if we were City with a fortune to waste, but CB is not s priority!

Even City don't spend a fortune on the same depth at CB as we have . . .

So we will look to secure 1 point at least from each game.

Doesn't make sense he would be brought in as a centre back.
Kounde is only 1.78m tall.
However, apparently he is very capable and fast as a RB.
If he was being considered, might that mean pushing TAA into more of a midfield role (to provide better service to forwards) .?
Not saying I believe the romour, just thinking out loud how it could work with our system.

Kounde is about the right age, anyone think we could play 3 at the back with this lad on the right side, pushing Trent further up the field .

Trent, Ali and Salah sold in the summer.

Gotta pay FSG back for the new stadium. Cannot have those boys out of pocket now, can we?

You do realise @StEtienne that FSG are the ones who spent the money in the first place? It’s just disgusting that they should expect any returns isn’t it?

I can’t recall your comments at the time that FSG shouldn’t have spent the money on the players, ground, training centre etc.

That said please accept my apologies if you did and I missed it.

West Derby Wanderer what are you on about, they needed to spend the money or they wouldn't get any returns on their money? The question is why aren't they spending money now to keep up with city, chelsea, ect, they don't care about the fans, it's a business to them and they'll just do enough to keep it ticking over. Everyone who lives in Liverpool and supports them knows that, there is deep unrest from the people who live in the city and go the match.

Sorry Jim, I don’t understand what you are on about either.

What I will say is that it’s really great news that the Anfield Road End is being paid for by the pixies.

I can also add that I was born and lived in Liverpool (can you guess which suburb? ) for 40 odd years, went to the match for about 35 of them and still have most of my family and friends living in the city and I and most of them don’t share your view about concern for the club - in fact some of them actually enjoy going to the match, the trend buckets eh?

Your view of business - just do enough to keep it ticking over - is a ridiculous comment based on the success on the pitch over the past 3 or 4 years and off field with the on-going development of the ground, the training centre and the improvement of throughput from the academy to the first team squad.

The idea that we have to spend heaps on players because City and Chelsea etc do is, at best, simplistic, as discussed in a thread on here yesterday but if you look at the money that City spent on recent ‘marquee’ signing Grealish £100m 😁😁😁) and the lad that Premier League Manager players on the forum were clamouring for in July who signed for Chelsea on the never never and promptly disappeared - Paul was it or Saul or something there is something to be said for keeping our powder dry.

It will be interesting to see the P and L reports for the clubs in the next couple of months or so. I expect that they will show that we are not the only ones making a loss and the transfer market is dead at the moment for nearly everybody, not just us.

City and Chelsea will still outspend us.

Their return comes in the value of the club West Derby Wander and its astronomical compared to what they paid for the club and whatever money they put into the club.

@Irish, are you referring to the £3bn that has started to be taken as Gospel on here?

Couple of points …. when it comes to selling or buying players there is talk about the players worth to the club wanting to buy. It seems (using our fringe players as an example) that what we, or more specifically the club, value our assets a fair bit higher than people wish to pay. Funny how the same logic isn’t being applied to the club’s value. Just saying

Equally it is odd that a fair few people on here think that the club has been going backwards for at least three years - players are old, players have lost value, FSG won’t spend, FSG are happy to run the club on a shoestring with no ambition yet they (the critics) point to massive (astronomical) profits when they abandon this run down ageing squad and club that has no prospects. It seems to be a contradictory point of view. Again, just saying.
