This talk of salah joining a prem club when his contract runs out is almost coming across like a threat, is it really healthy to keep a player for a season when all the talk will be about what prem club he joins? and if he ain't playing well the narrative will be its because he is leaving, it feels a bit toxic to me and to show the club is bigger than him I would sell and move forward if we get a good offer because his mind is elsewhere, I have seen the club only offered him 15 percent pay rise can't blame him but the club is more important.

01 Jun 2022 22:03:35
I was 100% do anything to keep him, but the way it’s going, like you, I think the situation is becoming toxic and it would be best to move him on now. There’s not going to be any agreement suitable to him and his agent. Sell, get some money, move on.

{Ed0666's Note - I wouldn’t sell him now to sell mane & Salah would be folly. Sell mane now, Salah leaves on a bosmon next season and go from there.

01 Jun 2022 22:04:33
If those comments are true then good riddance to the little rat. I think he needs a kick up his backside and remember what club made him who he is today. it’s all well and good if you want to better yourself and your family but don’t bite the hand that fed you. prick

( that’s if he did say those comments )

{Ed0666's Note - How is he a rat? If a rival company offered you a better salary and you joined them would you be a rat? Would you care what you ex employers thought of you? He’s done nothing wrong. Please let’s stop casting aspurtions before he’s joined City or United and if he does who gives a fu*k???

3.) 01 Jun 2022
01 Jun 2022 22:14:23
So he wouldn’t be a rat if city or united offered him a nice wage packet and he went? This is just
Hypothetically speaking. because realistically it’s only city, Chelsea, city or united that could offer him that money in the prem.

{Ed0666's Note - why is he a rat if he signs for anyone apart from Liverpool? Is he Liverpool born & raised? As I said before they are all mercenary’s like most people on everyday jobs. I don’t think Owens a rat for signing for United I just don’t like him because he was all about himself and not the team. Salah has given us everything and not once complained about anything. Pre AFCON he was the best player in the world certainly better than Ronaldo isn’t it fair he asked for Ronaldo type money??

4.) 01 Jun 2022
01 Jun 2022 22:23:28
Of course we would give a f**k if our best players join our rivals. We get weaker and they get stronger with our legendary players having dampened their own and our legacy. Michael owen springs to mind. Can’t think of much worse. It’s like if Utd got Klopp, I would feel physically sick for a long time. Has Mane actually come out yet and confirmed he wants to leave? I thought Salah was staying another year?

{Ed0666's Note - if he goes to city/United we replace him. It’s not like it’s the end of the world is it? We replaced Keegan, Barnes, Dalglish, Torres’s, Suarez, Gerard etc etc. Owen never had a legacy in my eyes he was a selfish twat and that will be his legacy not signing for United and scoring 2 goals.

5.) 01 Jun 2022
01 Jun 2022 22:25:03
Has a rival offered him a better deal Ed? I’m not going as far as name calling but it does seem like a threat from his agent if true. The irony if Salah does run down his contract and still doesn’t get his big move would be quite something.

Personally it annoys me the club have let themselves get into this position. They should of started this last season moving one of mane and Salah then the other this year. Guess C.V. through a spanner in the works for many clubs tho.

But if Klopp is happy then so am I even if they decide to sell Salah now too, klopp and his team proven themselves over and over.

{Ed0666's Note - I don’t know what he’s been offered or by whom mate. It’s seems like the kangaroo court in these parts have passed sentence already.

6.) 01 Jun 2022
01 Jun 2022 22:26:04
I think rat is uncalled for, but I do think it’s a lack of respect to the supporters and self awareness on Salah’s part.

I genuinely think I’d get rid now Ed. No point keeping someone who has no interest in the long term here. Get some money bring someone in, a bosman would be awful as all we’re doing is kicking the problem down the road and then having no money to replace him. Sell now, get some cash. Let’s get Nunez and Bowen and move on.

{Ed0666's Note - I’d rather keep him and let him go on a bosman replacing 30 goals a season guaranteed with Bowen is risky business mate.

7.) 01 Jun 2022
01 Jun 2022 22:48:12
Take the red tinted glasses off and look at it from an employee's angle. That's what he is, an employee, and as in every walk of life those that don't get what they want move on to pastures new. No difference whether you're stacking shelves or playing football. Good luck to him.

8.) 01 Jun 2022
01 Jun 2022 22:49:43
Hailstones - Mondidnt say he would join a rival PL club. You’ve been duped by the Daily Fail re-quoting Mo from an interview he did in October 2019. All he said was that he hates the thought of playing against Liverpool if they can’t agree a deal with Liverpool.

9.) 01 Jun 2022
01 Jun 2022 22:57:41
Whoever we do buy is going to be risky, but we might as well face that problem now, and face it with some money to spend than have him leave with and have to address the problem with no money to spend and I’d far rather we went for Nunez and Bowen as a double transfer (like we did with Barnes and Beardsley) than waste money and time on the likes of Dembele, Danjuma, Gakpo, Antony or whoever else, as they would a far bigger risk given that Bowen and Nunez both have good antecedents in terms of goal scoring against decent opponents. Bowen in particular was responsible for nearly 25 goals in goals scored and assists in the league for West Ham (which was nearly half of all the goals they scored), so he isn’t a mug by any stretch, as for Nunez, I genuinely think he’s going to be top class. And he offers a physical presence we don’t have at the moment.

10.) 01 Jun 2022
01 Jun 2022 22:59:21
@Ed maybe it depends on how you look at it but It would be such a shame and a sad thing to see if this does happen ( a big IF ) and his legacy is ruined due to to it and btw Ed I’ll say he may not be liverpool born but he was Liverpool raised 😉.

11.) 01 Jun 2022
01 Jun 2022 23:03:41
Ed0666 your talking nonsense. Football isn’t just like someone leaving an office for another office. Football clubs such as Liverpool have millions of supporters and fans who pay thousands of pounds a year to watch them. If a player leaves for a closest rival it is a rat move. Plain and simple.

12.) 01 Jun 2022
01 Jun 2022 23:17:51
Now Salah is a rat and we need to get shot of him all because of some crap rumours on the Internet.
There are some drama queens on here, seriously.

13.) 01 Jun 2022
01 Jun 2022 23:25:17
Can we call fans rats for jumping to conclusions about what a player didn't say? I think it's fair game.

VVVV - it could go either way but I'd rather keep Mo for a year of production while he is still at peak. Remember, he'll be playing for a contract in a year that could be the apex of his peak years. So it wouldn't be in his interests to turn it in and pack a sad. I mean he already isn't drumming up interest from other clubs, so I think we hold a lot of leverage in terms of getting the best out of him next season. If he goes for free, then we clear that salary of the books and free up transfer money other ways. Either way I think it is a very viable option for us to look at.

14.) 01 Jun 2022
01 Jun 2022 23:26:16
get rid, Get some money and get a player that wants to play for us.

15.) 01 Jun 2022
01 Jun 2022 23:26:43
I actually want him to stay but fsg aren't budging and he isn't bending so we keeping our star player for a season knowing he is off but wants to stay in prem, my immediate reaction is let's listen to offers and send a message that we are not a club who relys on individuals.

16.) 01 Jun 2022
01 Jun 2022 23:31:04
Just incase some of you didn’t see but I clearly stated IFFFF he did say those things then I stand by what I said. if it was, as you guys say a rumour, then no need to worry. simple.

17.) 01 Jun 2022
01 Jun 2022 23:40:13
Salah hasn’t signed a new contract, is unlikely to Flash and his agent is briefing the press. It’s not getting shot, but making a sensible business decision as I would wager very heavily that Salah won’t sign a new agreement.

18.) 01 Jun 2022
01 Jun 2022 23:40:17
We don't need to replace his "30 goals a season"

Fabinho can take better penalties than Salah does.

And the pointless goals when piling on against rubbish like United and Leeds would have been better replaced by at least one goal in a semi final or final.

Leaving for another EPL club does not make him a bad person.

In fact, I hope he does, because he is completely overrated. And just like Owen, he is all about himself and his individual awards.

19.) 01 Jun 2022
01 Jun 2022 22:38:15
Ed0666 we have to move on from salah and mane at some point and i don't want players at the club who want to leave or feel they need a change. We are in a full on battle with man city who are hitting 90+ points every season and we need everyone on board pulling in the same direction .

{Ed0666's Note - yes but losing 30 goals a season and replacing with 10 or thereabouts will only take us further away from the holy grail.

20.) 02 Jun 2022
01 Jun 2022 23:46:53
Thing is Faith, we work on a hand to mouth basis, so if Salah leaves on a free we won’t have sufficient money to spend to buy a suitable replacement. Sell him now while he had economic value, he’s not the long term of the club, use the funds from his and mane’s sale for two new forwards. If he’s here next year he’s not going to bust a gut as it will impair his chances of a big move. He’s almost entirely useless to us.

21.) 02 Jun 2022
01 Jun 2022 23:59:35
Is that a direct quote from Salah, or is it taken out of context? I can't believe that he would come out and make that statement.

22.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 00:01:10
Ed666 makes a lot of sense.

In fairness to mo, although I don't agree with all the crap in the press, has earned to leave on a free and command a wage.

I also believe lfc should think about the team and offering 1 man huge wages above everyone else.

The transition is key and 1 more year with mo and integrating another forward for mane is the way forward.

Just don't see mo replicating 30 goals a season over 3 years, fsg and to degree jurgen have a system and plan, painful as it Is we just need to trust.

Club, fans have values and its got us this far have respect for legends and trust the process.

23.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 00:31:56
Damn, vvvv really have the klipperty on bowen and nunez didn't he.

24.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 01:50:46
I thought we had decided that we don’t score enough goals from the chances we make (20+ shots in the CL final and no goals) . Perhaps if we replace Salah and / or Mane we might score more goals than this season. I’m fairly sure Lewandowski would give a fair account of himself as an example.

I get the impression that some fans think we own the person rather than the football player - we don’t (and neither does the football club for that matter) . If a player reaches the end of his contract and decides, for whatever reason, to pursue a new challenge then that is his right. The fact that people start calling them names, based mostly on heresay rather than actually knowing anything about the individual says a lot more about the person doing the name calling in my opinion.

25.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 02:10:48
Stone - he didn't say that he will go a plan for a rival PL club. it is absolutely taken out of context and liverpool fans are lapping it up and giving the Daily Fail easy clicks.

26.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 02:11:11
Sell him to the hihest bidder. he's had his best years. LFC need cash to buy for the future.

27.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 02:11:32
VVVV - still think we're more likely to let him go for free than sell him for peanuts this summer.

28.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 02:52:18
VVVV, Salah will bust a gut next season because that's what he's about and because he's putting himself in the shop window, so to speak. He wants that 30-40M signing on fee on top of the weekly wage. If his numbers are good he'll prob get it. I don't like this talk of going to another PL club. I think it's an indirect threat to the club. We scored a shed load of goals w Sterling Sturride Suarez and we will again wout Mane and Salah. Given the choice of keeping them and losing Klopp or the opposite, I know what we'd all take. Klopp is staying and I 100% trust him to keep us at the top.

29.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 03:17:20
Its salah’s problem. Liverpool have offered him a huge deal. The numbers are staggering. He wouldn’t sign. He could have got more but his agent screwed it up for him. If a meaningful offer does come we would let him go. Problem is unlike mane, no one has any declared any interest in salah at the moment.

30.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 04:07:22
the real impasse in these negotiations- Mo Salah’s Image Rights?
From what I gather, he’s the only LFC player holding onto them and they’re apparently worth at least £4-5m a year to a player of his global stature. The top players at LFC, City and elsewhere give up their Image Rights as part of their wage packages. The likes of Rooney in the part and Ronaldo always have these taken into account on their wage negotiation.
These images are extremely valuable. Plus, they not only have a current value but a long term money spinning value even past a players career is over as images are needed for retro stories as time passes.
In my mind, if Salah gives up his Image Rights to LFC, then his wage demands can be met. But he, and his agent, aren’t prepared to do this and are being disingenuous to the public perception of this new contract offering.
Can you investigate to clarify or feny if it is in fact the Salah Image Rights as the real reason behind FSG not breaking their wage structure for Mo? Given the amount of rancour and misinformation around these negotiations, I believe it would make a difference to the public perception of Mo’s integrity and FSG’s, and LFC’s, wage structure position.

31.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 05:38:19
Only rats I can see are certain posters on this thread. By the same warped logic Salah shouldn't have signed for Liverpool because he had played for Chelsea before. Or Milner as he had played for City. Its Salah's career and he's entitled to make his own decisions.

32.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 06:26:36
All this hand wringing and knicker wetting because of a clickbait rumour. You'd think folks would be wiser by now - but nope.
THe hysteria and faux outrage is comical.

33.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 08:14:51
Scary how quick fans turn.

Also some very bizarre comments in this thread pushing this new agenda that Salah is actually not that good anyway because he scores some penalties and doesn’t score in finals.

All this over a supposed quote from a rag.

34.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 08:43:46
Why the drama? Nothing to see here. Salah will be with us next year. He’ll be rested and back on top form. At end of contract he is free to go wherever he chooses. As always we will simply find the next keegan, dalgleish, rush, Fowler, ‘Owen, Torres, Suarez, salah etc etc.

35.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 08:58:48
It's a changing of the guard this next 12 months. Milner possibly leaving, Mane appears like he might, with Firmino injuries last 2 years, I imagine he will be kept on and let walk next summer. With Salah, I think it depends on what we could get for him, 20-25 million, keep him, around 50, you seriously think about it, it would fund his replacement, if someone offers 75-100 range, take the money and reinvest in young, hungry players. We won't challenge for the league if that happens, Klopp will need some time to mold the players, get them used to the system, but the payoff could be huge in second part of the season and the future. I believe one of the Ed's said we are not a club that can let players walk out on a free in the months or years past, just don't have that kind of finances, I agree.

36.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 09:21:39
The only thing I'll say is that Rami Abbas Issa enjoys playing games with the hierarchy at LFC. I'm not sure that they will keep putting up with his games even for a player of Mo's ability. He's been a good servant to the club but he's giving his agent too much leeway to say problematic things that will end badly. One would have thought that Mo would have learned by now that Issa is unable to deliver what he always wanted.

37.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 10:24:56
I have a feeling Salah will be a Newcastle player.

I’ve said it since their takeover really, a Middle Eastern, Arabic speaking billionaire will give Salah a blank cheque.

He’ll be 31 by that time, won everything and might want to get the money in, while also competing in the league he wants.

I think it makes perfect sense to both sides, the Saudi owners get the Middle Eastern golden boy, while Salah is still competing at the highest level on ridiculous wages.

38.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 13:19:35
Like Fottball Manager in this post. sell your two top scorers and just expect to kick on or at worst continue were we left off.

39.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 13:26:02
He wants to stay in England. He’s got Prem records in his sights and the family is probably happy here. He wants to stay with us too. If we don’t pay him to going rate of top players someone else will.

40.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 16:24:55
Dont get the drama with many LFC fans whenever 1 of our better players, god forbid want to move on. Regardless of the years at the club. Chelsea have the best policy. If a player want to leave they don't stand in the way. Every player is a serious injury away from retirement. The club will go on and the world moves on. 5 years or more at the same club for a foreign playet is more than enough nowadays. Thank you and good luck. Move on without bitching.

41.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 13:58:10
With all due respect ed0666,we never replaced Barnes, we allowed him to get fat and old in a rubbish team. He was the best player in Europe in the late 80's, we never got a player of that level for a long time after.

{Ed0666's Note - Barnes moved into centre midfield all pudgy and slow and still was the best player in our team

42.) 03 Jun 2022
03 Jun 2022 18:07:51
Spaceman. You coud be very right because for the longest time Salah had the same Image Rights issue with the Egyptian Football Federation. They've had disagreements and he has threatened not to play for the national team, because of their use of his image rights. I guess some kind of agreement must have taken place.

Aside from that. There's some seriously medieval thinking in this thread.
