Neuhaus still an option Ed002 or has he stalled in terms of progress?
Would you say Sangare is the most likely or might we go back in for Bissouma?

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer "most likely" questions.}

Ed2, thank you for the list of midfield targets given yesterday. Of that list do you know which one is Liverpool's preferred option?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I don't - and much will depend on departures.}

Hopefully another CB also, being as it would only take one major injury and Matip's fragility to make us thin again.

So even though Gomez can barely get game time, we need another centre back?
The mind boggles.
And Matip didn't exactly show much fragility this season.

And there’s still Philips unless we’ve sold him….

Gomez surely wants to play more games than he's getting now, and Phillips looks likely to leave .
Most importantly, There is a more suited CB out there to have in the mix . We would not have bid 50m for Demiral unless we wanted someone in that mould. He has a similar style to Romero, aggressive, front foot, which is a good option to have for different game plans .
We were also in for the young CB from barca, Nunez compatriot and allegedly Bremer, which says to me we are not done at CB yet.

spaceman, when did we bid £50m for Demiral?

I would also be amazed if we signed another CB now.

From all reports (I'd like to hear from Square Tomato but I haven't seen him for a while), Joe Gomez will be signing a new contract and Phillips will more likely be sent on loan so that he can take Matip's place in defence next season.

Throw in some promising youngsters who are developing nicely in the academy or on loan (Koumetio, Van Den Berg) and I can't believe we would be spending £50m on a defender right now. Are you sure the Demiral story wasn't recycled news from when we bought Konate?

Van Dijky has 4-5 years left, and Gomez and Konate will hopefully develop as a partnership as well.

Did we actually bid for any of those players or are they all "allegedly"?
I can only see a centre back coming in if one of four main guys leave.
I'm pretty sure Gomez wants to play more games too but it doesn't necessarily mean that he's leaving to obtain that.
It would be interesting to see if Klopp would bring Nat back if one of them did leave, or if there was a replacement brought in.

The Nat talk is to hype the price up. He is not suited to our style in the long term, he doesn't have the pace.
Even if Gomez signs a new contract, it would be to keep his value high. Why would Jogo want to stay for 10 games a season? He would play weekly elsewhere.
There have been too many rumours about us and CB's for it not to be true (imo) .

Just stop it. We are not signing a CB and Gomez is staying.

Silly season begins. Klopp signed one player last summer and they were a dodgy penalty decision (city vs Everton) and a decent striker away from winning the quadruple. Striker needed striker acquired. Right back cover and at a push a cm who can play klopp football but also find the top corner from distance. No other players needed. City are strong team Liverpool are a stones team fine margins again. If it wasn’t the pen then the Harry Kane horror tackle in a game we drew. Should’ve been red stayed on the pitch. Fine margins seem to go in city’s favour but we don’t take enough chances hopefully Nunez is the answer.
