Anything new on Salah Ed's? Heard Chelsea we're going to hold out for him next season but now suddenly moved for Raphina, possible circumstance change?

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation with Salah.}

I think he s going to have a huge season. My feeling is this season could be his best ever.

If we get a lot of money and we use it to buy a younger exciting replacement so be it. Build for future.

I feel so calm about it to be honest. It will be fine either way.

2.) 28 Jun 2022
28 Jun 2022 21:06:28
If he leaves on a free we get nothing.

3.) 28 Jun 2022
28 Jun 2022 21:21:21
If he helps us win trophies this season, we LL have got a lot.

4.) 28 Jun 2022
28 Jun 2022 21:31:00
Additionally, getting rid of Salah and Mane in same season could potentially cause so much disruption that champions league is at risk. Its hard to imagine not qualifying for champs league with Salah.

Like I said either way I'm good. But there's definitely still big upside to keeping Salah for another season. Who knows he might even sign in that time.

5.) 28 Jun 2022
28 Jun 2022 21:32:38
Interestingly West Ham are buying Danjuna, who plays the same position as Bowen, no?
Salah gets his dream move to a Spanish giant, the wages he wants, and leaves LFC as just a 6 season wonder.
Surely there is someone else coming in to take his place, and bed in early.

6.) 28 Jun 2022
28 Jun 2022 22:11:55
Bowen doesn't replace Salah, in my world. You lose 20+ goals in Salah and gain 10 from Bowen? Nunes is no guarantee, Dias is embedding. Salah has to stay for 1 more season until the teams found a rhythm of scoring goals.

7.) 28 Jun 2022
28 Jun 2022 22:38:41
Bowen will replace Benrahma. I rate Bowen but he can’t lace Salah’s boots.

8.) 28 Jun 2022
28 Jun 2022 23:29:24
Maybe we will just win games one nil or two nil instead of 5 nil without Salah. Don't matter if you score 10 goals you can only get 3 points for a win.

9.) 28 Jun 2022
28 Jun 2022 23:33:21
Things change OneKiss, don’t remember anyone saying that Salah would be one of the best to play for us when he first signed. Not saying Bowen would be, I don’t know, and don’t claim to, but none of us know how it could play out. As usual for me, if the recruitment team think he’s worth a go then personally I’m right behind them, they don’t get too many wrong.

10.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 00:41:36
Danjuma replaces Benrahma** I trust the recruitment team too but i just don’t see Bowen ever being the level to be starting for a PL or CL winning team. Good squad player.

yes, lol, if Mo goes for free then we get nothing.

I'm interested in if something has changed either with Mo or the club since Mo said himself that he will be here next season. So unless there has been a shift in either camp I'm not getting too wrapped up in the rumours one little bit

For me, Mo stays for the season and goes on a farewell tour carving all ahead of him as he tries to earn ballon d'or and his next big contract. If he does that then along the way we will pick up trophies along the way too. If he can do that and then go for free, then to me that would be value for nothing.

12.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 05:06:18
Maybe Salah's potential replacement will not be a 20+ goal main scoring outlet for the team. Perhaps the signing of Nunez is a change of focus and whoever plays on the right will be more of a provider than scorer. To me it doesn't matter where the goals come from so long as they do enough to win.

13.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 07:57:56
Really like Bowen. Reminds me of an English Dirk Kuyt, workman like grafter that will chip in with his fair share of goals without setting the world alight. Is that what we need though? I would prefer a more enigmatic winger like Raphina or Anthony personally. Maybe Chiesa!

14.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 08:08:39
Cornish, so you don't want Bowen because he isn't a goal scorer, but he scored more than raphinha and provided more assists didn't he? He is also now an England international.

15.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 09:15:02
Whilst Mo turned out to be a generational talent, he was not that before we signed him, he was shaped into that. As were Mane, Ali, VVD etc, so why not the next ones through the door too?
I agree, on paper Bowen appears to be an average replacement, and due to his English premium, i would prefer someone less obvious, but surely by now we trust the power of the clubs coaching team and how the club is run par excellence .

16.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 09:15:23
Nunez is going to bag 30 goals this season. Have faith in this lad.

17.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 09:18:38
Bowen is leagues above Raphinha in my opinion. Take away his penalties and he was about 20 g/ a behind Bowen last season. They're completely incomparable. One is a deceptively effective team player and the other is an over rated average sized fish in a little pond (Grealish, Zaha etc) . At a big club where all the play doesn't go through him and he doesn't get every set piece and penalty, he'll be found out. I'm sure someone will try and argue that Bowen plays in a better team and gets more chances, but Raphinha was in the top 5 in the league last season for shots attempted. His goal return was average because he's just not that good. Chelsea splurging a tonne of money on him is excellent news for the other top 6 contenders.

18.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 09:27:03
Maybe next year we give Mo a big signing on fee and slightly higher wages that don’t break our wage structure.

Win Win for bith club and Mo?

19.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 09:29:02
some shaping must have been done fairly quickly to get 44 goals in his first 9 months at the club. I appreciate how good Klopp is and how he improves players in a system that suits them but this idea that Salah and Manê weren't household names before we bought them so we'll be grand with whoever is brought in is just crazy to me! We are going to have a big drop in output from the right wing when Mo goes, that's not some sort of moan or criticism its just reality.

20.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 10:25:29
That’s exactly how it was Jadon. Plenty of people were saying that Mane and Salah weren’t good enough when they signed, and weren’t what we needed to get to the next level. Same for VVD, Alison, Robertson. The thing is, the recruitment team know more than anyone on this site about who we need need and why. Trust them, and when they get the odd one wrong cut them some slack, they definitely know what they’re doing, but nothing’s a ‘perfect science’.

21.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 10:37:58
I get that footy and klopp and his team have been fantastic in the market. Was only stating there'll inevitably be a drop off. Read somewhere the other day Mo Salah has had the best 5 year spell in the clubs existence since he came, says it all.

22.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 11:25:30
Stuie_boy. I would be more than happy with Bowen, as I said, I really like him. Just concerned that if Salah goes we will lose that element of unpredictability that we have enjoyed with Mo. Saying that, I think defenders knew what was coming but just couldn't stop Mo. I fully support buying proven English players (shame about the inflated prices) but we are Liverpool. We came so close to an unprecedented quadruple and if we wish to continue anywhere near those levels then we need to be recruiting the best available players within our budget and I would question if there are better options available.

23.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 12:12:01
Fair play Jadon, I agree it’s going to be near impossible to find a like for like replacement for Salah. He’s been absolutely immense.

On the flip side though, it’s great that teams have to move on and evolve, it keeps things interesting. I’d love him to stay for a few more years and to evolve the team around him to the point where he’s no longer needed.

There’s much more of a risk in him leaving this or next year, but these are the challenges in football. I’m looking forward to seeing how Klopp and the team solve it.

The thing I’m most worried about is when Klopp’s no longer around to help solve these issues, I’d be much less convident about the next few years if he wasn’t at the helm.

24.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 12:38:26
I'd rather be uninteresting, i'd rather be boring as f#$k and keep him for another few years?.

25.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 13:11:39
Bowen to replace salary, holy Jesus, wouldn't lace one of his boots.

26.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 15:34:54
Port Red: "Salary". there's Freudian Slip.

27.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 16:08:32
No slip up's in Laois eh Port Red ?.

28.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 17:39:01
Just spotted a pic on Gini’s timeline of him and Mo holidaying together - maybe trying to convince him to join PSG?

Said this the other day - if someone offers £50m plus they can take him, we don’t need a 30 year old player winding down his contract over the next 12 months. No room for sentiment, highest bidder gets him and we move on, as we always do.

29.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 18:06:29
What if his goals this season are the difference between winning the league or not though Johnny, i'd rather No.20 than the £50m.

30.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 18:26:09
Bowen is a quality player who will get goals, if Bowen gets Bobby's amount of goals and Nunez gets Salahs amount I don't see the problem.

31.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 18:44:16
How do we know how many goals Salah will score next season. We don’t have a crystal ball. His goals dried up last season when all the contract talk started - do we want another season affected by it?

He’s been absolutely fantastic for us there is no doubt about it but if the club feels it’s better to move him in then so be it.

32.) 29 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 22:37:30
Few factors to see play out for me, does a change in system happen, does it suit salah will he become more provider than goal scorer.

If he does go for free is the plan gnarbry on a free see how the younger players develop.

Just don't see us paying the bowen money at all next year as he'd have to have another good year which will up his price.

Salah stays money goes on midfield next year, salah is replaced by a new system as apposed for a like for like imo.

{Ed0666's Note - Salah scores goals irrespective of the system

33.) 30 Jun 2022
29 Jun 2022 22:41:01
"Move on as we always do" we've won 1 title in 32 years consistently selling our best players, we've already lost Mane we can't sell Salah this summer too. We haven't been good at moving on at all when our best players leave. We should be doing everything to keep them.

34.) 30 Jun 2022
30 Jun 2022 12:55:00
I’ve seen Keegan leave to be replaced by Dalglish, Rush to be replaced by Aldridge (briefly), Torres to be replaced by Suarez. The list goes on.

It’s a team game. In that 32 year league title gap we simply didn't have a good enough all round team to stand losing a quality individual. That’s no longer the case and the team as a whole is back to the standard it was in the ‘70s and ‘80s. We can afford to lose Salah.

And I’ll repeat that he’s been an outstanding player for us but football is all about the £s these days so let’s get some £s for him if he doesn’t want to sing a new contract.

35.) 30 Jun 2022
30 Jun 2022 15:01:51
But if he wants to ‘sing’ a new contract we’ll need to throw in a karaoke machine obvs!
