Thiago out for 6 weeks with his hamstring.

What a surprise.

Kelleher, Tsimkas, Konate, Ramsey, Ox, Thiago, Keita, Jones, Jota. Near enough a full 11 missing already. With the amount of football to come and the crazy schedule they had in pre season with little rest after last season this is both unsurprising and worrying. It will only get worse not just for us of course it will hit everyone.

I was asked by my son who I thought would win the leauge, I said City by 12 points. And that is purely as they are the only team in the leauge that can field two first 11s with subs that can win the leauge. That is what will be the difference this season as they too will have a long injury list at some point. If any of our perceived first choice front 3 goes down for any length of time we are in serious bother.

We can’t compete Vs squad depth against ManCity so let’s stop whining about that and simply enjoy the fact that we are competitive, playing fun football and still winning trophies against all the odds….

4.) 09 Aug 2022
09 Aug 2022 11:11:08
I’ll say it again we wer not good enough to win it last season we are not good enough to win it this season! It’s hard to compete with city and that squad klopp has done miracles but there is absolutely nottin he can do with that midfield he has! Time to get over it!

5.) 09 Aug 2022
09 Aug 2022 11:37:39
We lost by 1 point.

just interested to see, can you please post the city second XI that would win the league?

7.) 09 Aug 2022
09 Aug 2022 11:47:52
Perhaps those fans who seem to be convinced that we won’t win things should just try and enjoy the game for its entertainment value rather than making themselves bitter and twisted by obsessing on winning competitions. Failing that you could just start making the trip across Stanley Park instead to join the ranks of the bitter and twisted - they certainly aren’t going to win anything.

We are one game into the season …….

Jesus, a team had to come up with 3 goals in the last 15 mins to stop us winning it!

1jj, Saturday lunchtime was not “fun football” by any definition. It was a horror show.

Give your heads a wobble we've still to play our first home game, look at the positives, or is that not a thing anymore, our first 11 is still strong ok it's been weakened but it will still beat anything put in front of it, I'm looking forward to the backlash on Monday when I can come on here and say told ya so you can all call me a smart arse.

11.) 09 Aug 2022
09 Aug 2022 13:14:59
"Klopp has worked miracles with the squad". Same Klopp that has repeatedly said he's happy with his options? That Klopp?

Insane how People have forgot how it was to be a fan of this club just some few years ago. Clearly bandwagon fans. For the first time in the many years I’ve followed this site, I am beginning to dread coming on here, solely because of the unjustified negativity. I wasn’t satisfied with saturdays match at all, but to already write of the season is absolutely ridiculous. YNWA and thanks to the sane people on here for at least bringing my spirit up when I am finding myself too pessimistic. We go again!

City’s second xi ain’t winning the league lol.

I can't believe people are still moaning about the result the other day. Yes, we were a little bit "rusty", but we could of quite easily won if Hendersons shot didn't hit the post. It was also a extremely weak penalty IMO, plus, Fulumn played really well, which is not surprising given they were playing in front of a home crowd after just being promoted. Of course they were going to be a hand full. People are acting like we're about to be relegated. However, in hindsight, we do need a first choice midfielder. Ox and Kieta need to be moved on. Tiago and Henderson are reaching that age were you would be looking at replacements for the future, and elliot and carvallo (i like the both of them) are not the finished article.

09 Aug 2022 14:54:43
If that penalty is given for Everton we’d win the league and a domestic treble.

Weird life being a modern fan. Ignore reality, wallow in misery and talk up your rivals constantly.

Not sure this is the sport for you lads.

{Ed077's Note - but maybe that changes other course of actions that happened after the incident. You know butterfly effect and all..

16.) 09 Aug 2022

Why0Why, it is a fact to say that Man City comfortably swatted away a team who will be challenging for top six and could have run up four or five, whereas we struggled to lay a glove on a side who will be relegation candidates and we were lucky to get a draw out of it, as we were outplayed, out thought and out fought. That doesn’t bode well for the season, last season showed that we really can’t afford to drop cheap points in games we should be winning. I’m not certain there’s any positive to draw out of it other than at least we didn’t lose.

Nothing less than a comfortable win will do on Monday, but I think that Palace are going to fancy their changes on Monday because of how insipid we looked in the middle.

17.) 09 Aug 2022
09 Aug 2022 16:08:19
We can cope without Thiago for the next five games as they are against relegation fodder: Palace, Bournemouth, Man Utd, Newcastle and Everton.

18.) 09 Aug 2022
09 Aug 2022 16:21:34
Surely Pep needs a new challenge given how easy it is winning the premier league these days. Has he been to Italy yet or maybe back to Spain.

19.) 09 Aug 2022
09 Aug 2022 17:04:58
Squad depth isn't the issue, quality might be.

20.) 09 Aug 2022
09 Aug 2022 18:20:43
I’m guessing Everton have never missed a penalty. Plus if given and they scored would the ref have instantly blown for full time.

21.) 09 Aug 2022
09 Aug 2022 19:16:16
Hello Whyowhy, If Everton had of rightfully been awarded the penalty against Man City last season how do you they would have scored the resulting penalty, not every penalty awarded is converted, you can also fail to convert a penalty.

So i repeat how do you or anyone else know the penalty would of been converted. The answer is nobody knows as it wasn't awarded.

22.) 09 Aug 2022
09 Aug 2022 19:33:18
Have you seen city’s squad depth, it ain’t great and once silva goes they’re down to the bare bones….

23.) 09 Aug 2022
09 Aug 2022 19:52:00
Is City’s squad really deeper than ours? Or is it they don’t have many injury prone players as we do?

24.) 09 Aug 2022
09 Aug 2022 19:57:24
Being treated in the Alex oxlade Chamberlain medical suite apparently.

25.) 09 Aug 2022
09 Aug 2022 20:15:11
We also win the league if we don’t switch off and drop points against Brentford. We can’t be blaming others for our situations. We can only worry about what we can do and change.

26.) 09 Aug 2022
09 Aug 2022 20:39:47
I’m with you on this one Irish. It’s not the depth. No other club in the Pl has a fourth cb as good as Gomez or a fifth forward as good as Bobby etc etc.

{Ed025's Note - Crewe have got a better 5th forward than Bobby mark. He has been on sabbatical for 3-4 years now mate..

27.) 09 Aug 2022
09 Aug 2022 21:53:29
Ha, Bobby is not good enough as a starter but 5th forward more than decent. If he gets 10 goals as 5th choice he will have done ok. Needs a pay cut though, I don’t think many could argue there.

28.) 10 Aug 2022
10 Aug 2022 08:13:26
Why a pay cut? Why punish a player who has done nothing wrong?

29.) 10 Aug 2022
10 Aug 2022 10:14:02
Because he's crap. should of been sold to juventus if true. Mind you, who wouldn't want to stay as backup for 180 grand a week.

30.) 10 Aug 2022
10 Aug 2022 14:03:41
We have just brought in a data analysis company to help predict the injuries and prevent the catalogue of injuries after they successfully proved last season that their system worked. Is there a money back guarantee with that?

31.) 10 Aug 2022
10 Aug 2022 14:58:55
So now Firmino is classed as crap and should have his pay cut?
Remarkable man management skills that, wonder why we don't see skills like that employed in the Premiership.

32.) 10 Aug 2022
10 Aug 2022 12:26:56
Hi Ed025, Bobby scored 11 in 35 last season whilst Richarlison scored also 11 but in 33, you must be laughing all the way to the bank sith what Spurs paid you.

{Ed025's Note - Ritchie we a good player in a very poor side KC. Bobby on the other hand is the invisible man mate. Once described by oli as a non scoring centre forward. Never before in the history of the game has a description been so apt..
