Lot's of rumours kicking about recently regarding targets for the next 2 windows. The ones that stand out to me as maybe a bit more truthful are Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Martin Zubimendi and Joao Pedro.

Frimpong makes perfect sense if Trent were to leave and Ed002 confirmed we had interest but only as a Trent replacement. He's a really good attacking right back, who has lived in the North West before during his time at City. I hope Trent stays personally but rumours we've met with Frimpong's agent during the Leverkusen Champions League game seem to give some legs to the theory Trent might leave. If this happened I'd be gutted but only because it would mean Trent was gone, as Frimpong himself would be a great signing.

Kerkez we know is of genuine interest as it was confirmed by Ed002 many times. Robertson is also in a noticeable decline and Tsimikas seems to be picking up a lot of injuries the last 18 months. Hughes is also a known fan, and I believe he brought him to Bournemouth originally. So this potential transfer makes a lot of sense. I'm not sure this would be my choice but there are worse options out there.

Zubimendi is definitely of interest and was nearly signed in the summer so rumours we might go back for him wouldn't shock me if they turned out to be true. Endo also isn't fancied by Slot so it makes a lot of sense we might try again to bring in a midfielder who we know Slot and Hughes really wanted. Recent rumours are that he literally did the photoshoot in the Liverpool kit before his U-turn, but that could be nonsense. I'd personally rather we moved on to a new, as I found the whole summer saga massively embarrassing for both Zubimendi and Liverpool, but he is a very good player.

Lastly is Pedro, who's little bit more of a wildcard and not so much in the way of confirmed interest. There seems to be a lot of different sources coming up with this though and with Jota being really injury prone and Nunez just lacking cutting edge, Pedro does feel like a player who would fit into our squad and of course Slot's style of play, quite seamlessly. I like the idea of him in our team a lot, but I have some concerns over his recent injury record. Last thing we need is another injured striker.

I'd like to see us get a midfielder in January, I think we need 1. It's obvious endo+morton aren't what slot wants. Like baleba of Brighton but he won't be sold in January I'm sure. Zubi don't know all that much about but he player that comes with a big reputation and he must've been interested in joining us in summer for the 'transfer' to go as far as it did.
Such a pity we didn't get caicedo, developed into the top class player I thought he would do.

All pretty logical links given where we are at the moment with squad and contract situation with Trent.

I do wonder whether we would go back for Zubi after the summer rejection. Seems a bit icky now. I would move onto Baleba but that sounds like a difficult deal to do given the sell-on clauses.

All quiet on the CB front at the moment although I did see a spurious link to Benfica's Antonio Silva yesterday in a cut price deal. He's definitely a player we have been watching over the last couple of years. It seems he's not first choice at Benfica this season.

How is Bajcetic getting on? To lazy to look in to it, but if he is having a good loan, then maybe he could answer some of our problems.

We have been connected to 25 players the last month. Mostly generating clicks from one of the biggest fan bases in the world. Enjoy what you have before it's gone.

@MK Scouser,
I seem to remember that we had to be patient with a certain CB signing a few years back which has proved to be one of our best signings in that position of evs! If the recruitment team think that's our guy then there is no embarrassment in taking time to get the right deal.

I still think Beleba is the one we need for CM. We need more physicality in there as shown in some of our games this season. Still think Caicedo would have really taken us to the next level as well. Would prefer someone in that mould than a Zubimendi type

Pedro would cost as much as Isak and I know who I’d prefer.

Kerkez -> Bournemouth -> Hughes …. wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more, squire.

Been reading all the rumours too, but I’d take all with a pinch of salt it’s journo silly season.
The players I would love most are Emerson (Atalanta) Frimpong (TAA replacement) Adeyemi (Jota replacement) and a decent back-up CB.

What's "the next level"?
Even topper of the league and Europe?

It’s level 5 @Flash, where you press a button and spend £3bn on an entire new squad.

Go all out for alphonso Davies but suspect Real Madrid and wages might not work for us.

Why not chelsea can spend billions and nothing happens to their club.

I think our next lrft back had a pretty good audition today. I am not going to criticise Robbo but I think his days as number one are well and truly over.

Let's worry about a defender first. Midfield is down the list for me and I'm not convinced we can afford both this winter.

Folks on here lament that robbo wasn’t the player he once was and then pine for alphonso Davies….

Robbo has a lot of miles on the clock, I just don’t think his form has been as consistent over the last 2 seasons. I think we saw his replacement yesterday in Robinson, I was very impressed with both his defending and forward play. I think Liverpool should get him before MC or Arsenal do.

Although there are rumours linking players to us from the likes of Bayern we very rarely buy players, or even take free contract players, from any of the top clubs in the prem or foreign leagues unless they’re injury prone. The reality is we may pick up players from the likes of Wolves, Bournemouth, Palace in the Prem or the mid tier teams in top Europe leagues but I’d ignore any other rumours.

19.) 16 Dec 2024
16 Dec 2024 13:38:24
Regarding my earlier post about Robinson, I didn’t realise he is 28, which would make him one of the older players in the squad if he joined, and not in keeping with the club’s determination to buyer younger players who can improve.

V good player, but I wish I had looked up his age before I posted, thought he was in his early twenties.

D-day, we've all been there mate! I wanted us to sign Alex Moreno and then one of the Ed's pointed out he was in his 30's. I thought he was 23!

I personally think Kerkez will be our new LB before the start of next season. I have no evidence or inside knowledge to support this, I just have a hunch that it will happen.

21.) 16 Dec 2024
16 Dec 2024 17:08:06
I suppose Kerkez is a good possibility. Even Hughes must have Bournemouth’s number.
Is Kerkez any good?

22.) 17 Dec 2024
17 Dec 2024 06:09:21
Grav is playing way too many games with no real back up. Midfielder in Jan is needed imo.

23.) 17 Dec 2024
17 Dec 2024 19:35:36
I'm not so sure about signing Zubi unless we're going to change our setup. He's not better than Gravenberch in that position. If we're going to play 2 in that position as a double block, then fine, but I think he's competing with Gravenberch for position, and he isn't a better player.

24.) 17 Dec 2024
17 Dec 2024 20:36:19
Don’t see why Gav couldn’t play alongside or instead of Zubi. Grav definitely has the ability to play a little further forward also IMO.

25.) 18 Dec 2024
18 Dec 2024 09:54:44
Zubimendi wouldn't replace Grav (although it would allow us to rest him when needed) but instead he would likely play alongside him. It would be Macca's current position that he would likely fill and it would also allow Macca to play further forward where he is arguably better. It would give us increased options in all 3 midfield positions.

26.) 20 Dec 2024
20 Dec 2024 12:18:30
Would we go back in for Zubimendi? Could play instead of Grav in some games, with him in others with Mac or Sobz further forward, would definitely fit in with the type of play Slot is aiming for

Kerkez looks an interesting one, honestly seems a good player and achievable you would think - with Alfonso Davies being a free transfer, would we go for him? Would his wages, signing bonus etc though be perhaps just too costly? Good attacking lb and quick as hell though

I get the Frimpong links if Trent leaves but does anyone know what he is like? Seems to play further forward in that system so more of a right winger than a rb, what is his defending like?

We were linked with Inacio a while back, was well though of - would/ is he still an option at cb for us?

I do think cb could perhaps be the most pressing for us, that and another midfielder as you would worry if Grav or VVD gets injured.
