Hi ed01, long time fan of the site. I know The Mirror isn’t the most reliable source… but they’re reporting that Trent has been offered a 78 million contract over 5 years. Are there any truths to this?

Also, do you see a left back arriving this window - due to Robertson’s form? I’ve heard Kerkez being mentioned again. Thanks mate, you’re a legend.

{Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware it hasn't quite reached the offer stage, so no. Though that figure seems about roughly where I would expect it to go to.

I agree we do seem to need a left back sadly, but I don't expect one until the summer.}

do you feel 300k a week for Trent is a good deal for the club? (if he even accepts it) I fear it might cause problems when the likes of Konate, Diaz, Macca, Gravenberch, Gakpo, etc are up for new deals. What do i know though.

As op said the mirror ain't most reliable but seems a fair/ good offer in my opinion. Ed001 would your gut feeling think that would be enough to get TAA to sign on or do you see him in a RM shirt come summer?

{Ed001's Note - I still think he will stay, it was what he wanted, so any other choice would be a mistake imo.}

Thank you! As far as negotiations are handled, you previously mentioned that an offer is made during the final stages (if I’m not mistaken) when an agreement is close - does that imply that Trent is giving positive signs that he is willing to renew?

I agree with you that it’s sad to witness Robbo’s decline… let’s hope we don’t make a mess of this window as well.

HNY to you and everyone.

{Ed001's Note - does what imply? The Mirror story will be just guesswork in the hope that they get lucky and be remembered for getting it right.}

Do you expect us to go after a LB before a CB Ed? I know you're big fan of Bastoni Ed, but it seems like he is unlikely to leave Italy. Is there anyone else out there that is similar in a way that is a CB that can play LB? What about Castello Lukeba?

{Ed001's Note - it is that kind of defender that is wanted, rather than an out and out centre or left back. Off the top of my head I can't think of any others, but there are usually a few that can play both to a degree.}

A new world class "LEFT" back has to be the top priority for the Club, careless mistakes are creeping into Andy's game Fulham home game and recently when he was robbed of the ball similar to when Wilson stole it from him, at West Ham when the score was 0-0 only for the West Ham player slipping he had a great chance to score, he has never been the same since his shoulder injury last year, a shoulder injury also finished another great LFC left back Gerry Byrne, who will go down in History as the "hardest man" t0 play football "EVER" as he clean broke his collar bone after circa 9 minutes of the 1965 FA Cup Final versus Leeds United, had it strapped up by Sir Bob Paisley and played all the remaining game, and also an extra 30 minutes of injury time with a broken collar bone, which at any moment after could have pierced his lungs and been fatal, he even supplied the left footed cross for Hunt to score Liverpools first goal.

No football player who has ever lived, or will live on this Planet will be "harder" than Gerry Byrne, cor blimey if they even break a lacquered fingernail they throw the towel in nowadays, the maximum wage then for LFC players was circa £30 pounds a week and they were all on the exact same money insisted on by Sir Bill Shankly, as Shanks wanted them to play for LFC and each other, and not their wallets, certain prima donnas and FSG/ Henry need to look in the mirror and consider who would they rather be in life a "Gerry Byrne" or a big time Charlie.

Would it be right to assume with others like Konate and Diaz up for renewal in next 2 years then Salah and Virgil will be offered 2 or 3 yrs max and trent maybe 3 to 4, with Trent it would tie in with him being captain should Virgil get 2 more years or heavens forbid he leaves, Salah for me best player in the prem by a mile he has to stay. It seems the club can not afford 3 or more players on more than 300k per week so salah and virgil could be off the payroll by the time diaz and macca and konate are worth 2 to 300k per week.

Sure Fbart, that sounds logical, but we're apparently working on deals for Diaz and Konate that have gone nowhere for months. Hopefully it gets sorted.

The offer seems fair to Trent but I still think he wants a signing on fee and his brother wants a big lump so it’s much nearer to £100m package. Imo it shouldn’t cause problems with other players because they haven’t been on Trent’s level fir 5 years and RM isn’t trying to buy them.

I mean, if City get found guilty and relegated lol, Gvardiol might become available?

Definitely the type of player needed I'd say.

Who knows eh? ??.
