Konate stalls his extension!
Arrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Surely the club spoke with his representatives to gauge the contract Konate wants and if he wants to extend? Only then offer a contract?

If you are Ibou, you wait until you know that Virg has signed up. No surprise there. Players will wondering how ambitious the club in keeping its best players is and also if there's a chance the floor and ceiling of the wage structure is to change, wait it out.

Unfortunately this appears to be a recurring theme, I think Chelsea have got it about right signing the players up to 8-9 season contracts, puts the club firmly in control and makes the agents job virtually redundant, yes you will get stuck with a few but the club won’t be held to ransom- vvd-salah-taa-Diaz and now konate all potentially going for nothing or absolutely destroying the clubs wage structure.

Probably wants to know if VVD, Mo and Trent are sticking around too.

And if it's too much?

Oh no, more conversations surrounding the semantics of contract negotiations incoming!
Crikey Ibou do you not know we have been through this enough on this page. We just need an announcement that it's done.

As brilliant as he is he averages at least 6 + games a season missed through injury and then takes 3 games to adjust back to original settings . He has said he is loves everything about the club, fans and would love to extend.

He’s been made an offer. He was asked if he would accept and he said “that’s another matter”.
These contract negotiations are really going well.

I don’t understand all the money side of the game that was ed002 speciality but it does look like most teams are tightening up a bit. Seem there is less money for transfers so maybe the players are hoping for too much and the club is trying to go as far as they can without tying there hands with transfers.

I think in reality its easy to just wheel out stuff like 'we're top of the league how is it going wrong' etc etc
But the bigger picture isn't this season its the next 2 to 3, Imagine none sign including Ibou, add to that Nunez potentially taking a Saudi offer, Kelleher leaving for minutes elsewhere, Elliot getting fed up, Endo the same, all of a sudden your not just needing first team players but valuable squad additions too,
Now Im not being over the top here, this is the reality of where we are, potentially we could go from league winners to fighting for top 4 spots within 12 months, did Klopp leave due to no backing? We'll never really know but we do know what our eyes show us and that's that FSG in the grand scheme of things need to get they're fingers out and start considering who we need in and what this squad might look like in 2 years.

It’s an on-going negotiation process which is far from finished. Why not wait and see what happens?

He can go if he wants.
He doesn't deserve top dollar. He's a good athlete but average footballer.

Rum lad : a lot of the new owners bought clubs on the basis they were growth opportunities due to increasing TV money, fan support and corporate investment interest.
That growth has slowed now and they're slowing down spending to accommodate it. The ones who didn't buy them as growth opportunities (mainly City and Newcastle) have been hampered by PSR.
Everyone keeps demanding spending but we've had two years of losses on our accounts now so we have to be very careful what we spend.

Plus Nevada; the next set of accounts are due out in the next few weeks which will in all likelihood show further losses which will dwarf the previous losses.
This will represent losses in 4 out of the last 5 accounts.
Remember PSR works over a 3yr rolling basis.
We’re not talking Utds £800mil in debt type of situation but they’re still losses.
The accounts in 2026 should show a healthy profit though.
Meanwhile we’re still sitting top of the league clear by 6 with a game in hand and sitting pretty top of the CL already qualified for the round of 16.

If I'm Konate, I'm waitng to see the resolution in the deals for VVD and the other 2.

@Ginger, perhaps we are awaiting the publishing of the accounts before announcing the contracts being signed - just a thought that occurred to me. Financial expediency, perhaps?
