Expect Jota to be sold in the summer. There is a major upgrade coming in.

Er. OK Wayne.

Keep Darwin and sell Jota, yes please.

Cannot get on board with this keep Darwin and sell Jota mantra.
If you need a goal in a game, brining Jota on is a massive game changer and can genuinely win games.
Nunez scored a couple against Brentford but the reality is he’s just not that been that guy for us.

Forest Navy? How about Newcastle?
Nunez has found his minutes limited this season as he’s admitted himself he’s been going through a difficult spell but let’s not change history to suit your narrative.

Yes Jota can score goals. But how many times has he been able to play in 5-6 straight matches without getting injured. He is available for 2-3 matches, score 1-2 goals and then goes injured for 1-2 months. The same thing just keep repeating itself over and over again.

Whilst I like both and I think they both will play an important role in any success we may enjoy this season I would sell both in the summer. Jota too injury prone and not getting any younger. Nunez is too erratic, his work rate, passion and commitment is unquestioned, but that is also his weakness as he lacks composure and is inconsistent and too emotive in games.
If possible bring in Cunha in the summer, promote Danns. Hopefully next season Chiesa will be up to speed and will be like a new signing, meaning we still have two strong options in every position.
Any that would be my plan, but if I had to sell one it would be Jota, just because of his lack of availability.

Between Jota and Nunez, all things considered I'd keep Nunez, he's never injured, runs from first minute to last, his build up play is improving all the time, he has a great understanding with Dom and Mo and his decision-making has come on in leaps and bounds this year. Sure he doesn't score enough goals but what he offers to the team with Jota's constant injuries is quantitatively higher. If Jota was fit all the time, then sure, he'd be above Darwin in the pecking order, but that's simply not the case. The thing is however that Nunez probably commands a higher market value now and seems a more saleable asset. I'm waiting to see until the end of the season whether Darwin can play a bigger role for us in our title and CL push, I'm pretty optimistic that he can.

If he could stay fit I would keep Jota but the fact is that his injury record is abysmal. He's rarely available when we need him and when he is, he has a good goal scoring record but offers little else in terms of overall play.
Nunez is a much better team player and actually has the second most 90+ minute goals by a Liverpool player (level with Gerrard and Torres and only behind Mane) so if you need somebody to change a game late on and find you a winner he is statistically a much better option than Jota.

Sell both, buy a starting centre forward a killer and have Danns and Gak/ Mo/ Chiesa as other options.

I’m not changing history Becker.
The Newcastle game was in August 2023. We’re in 2025 now.
Needs to be doing more.
He’s capable of these incredible moments from time to time. No doubt.
But my point is that he’s not mr reliable coming off the bench to get you a goal.
For me Jota is.

I love nunez- think he should start more games. We have been better with his chaos from the start. He brings so much more to our team than goals. I’d keep jota as impact sub- otherwise, if there are buyers for him out there, have at it and give danns the opportunity. My one criticism of jota apart from his injuries is his link up play. Its definitely improved but for every goal he scores, I wonder how many more goals he could have been involved in through losing the ball or bad passing. It was kind of like the gerrard thing. It used always do my head in how many shots gerrard took a match. Yes- he scored worldies, but how better might the team have been overall had he picked out a pass that put a player through on goal over going for it. In jota’s defence- he’s a class goalscorer so its not his job to be making things happen- he’s just there to put it in the net, so I’m probably being a little unfair on the lad- I just look at the impact a salah and gakpo bring- and even darwin- even when not scoring. Not a popular line of thought I would imagine.

24 Jan 2025 12:41:01
I should add- wasn’t actually having a go at gerrard before anyone loses their mind- was just trying to give an example. The kid was majestic on the pitch to watch. Just throwing that one out there. let's just all be cool.

24 Jan 2025 14:48:23
To be fair @aoe you can say the same about almost lot of players. Mo misses lots of chances and often loses the ball in bad positions but most of the time you know he'll create more chances and almost certainly put one away or create one for somebody else. I think it's often down to these special players trying things that other players maybe wouldn't - a bit high risk, high reward.

A fair point completely. And certainly apt with a player like mo and gerrard. But jota is neither player. I was just using gerrard as an example of my issue with jota. (Probably badly as well. ) To clarify, my point with jota is that imho his link up play costs more for the team, than what he brings to the team as a goalscorer. Let’s say- he scores one goal in three games. A player with a better ability to link up play could theoretically be responsible for multiple goals over those same three games- that’s where I see the value in nunez. He brings more than goals. Oh yes, goals would be most welcome, but overall (and certainly lies damned lies and statistics might argue otherwise) I think we score more with darwin on the pitch, than with jota. Saying that- against a tired team, I think he is a brilliant substitute option.

24 Jan 2025 22:50:26
Yes jota is injured but still scores more than nunez. So keep jota for sub sell numez and bring in gykores. A natural finisher. Haalands rubbish but a great finisher. Numez runs around but can't score.

If we can get a good fee for Jota then move him on. Good player for us but his next injury is never far away.
17.) 25 Jan 2025
25 Jan 2025 00:34:01
Nunez' link up play isn't that good at all. For a big lad he isn't good with his back to goal or with his head.
He's an athlete but a lot of the time he's moving too quickly to have control of the ball or assess what is happening around him. He's rash and erratic.
I'd keep him this season and use him as a wild card though to hit teams on the break or to goal hang when we need a goal. He needs to be in the six yard box.
18.) 25 Jan 2025
25 Jan 2025 05:02:58
I don’t care who is being sold of the 2 but please let the upgrade be Cunha - several teams linked with him now and we mustn’t miss out.
19.) 25 Jan 2025
25 Jan 2025 21:26:22
Says a lot about Nunez’s future at the club really. Jota out injured, game against a relegation bound Ipswich who conceded 6 last week and Nunez is on the bench. I don’t rate him but his confidence must be taking an absolute hammering. After the couple of goals last week it’s a bit of a case of 1 step forwards, 2 steps backwards. From this outsiders view it seems that Arne prefers other options.

26 Jan 2025 10:41:19
We will try and offload Jota in the summer but his injury record will make that difficult for any major fee. The fact Diaz gets in ahead of Darwin says everything as he’s not a great finisher either, and I’m not sure any number 9 will thrive in our system in terms of goal output. We’ll be looking more for a link player presumably than an out and out goal scorer.
