The rumors of Joao Pedro are intensifying again. Not really seen enough of him but seem to fit the profile that FSG would go for.

What profile is that? An over priced South American striker who doesn’t score many goals. Brighton are going to ask stupid money for a striker who really doesn’t score many goals and certainly hasn’t scored many from open play. If we’re going to pay stupid money at least get a striker who can actually score goals.

Can see this happening, and maybe a double deal with Baleba is not impossible
Pedro is a great Jota replacement tbh.

is there a player we've signed who was prolific before they came to us?

Just looking at numbers, Suarez was 49 goals / 24 assists season before he came to us and 28 goals / 19 assists the season before that.

Torres 13 and 15 goals the two seasons prior.

Otherwise who else? Andy Carroll? Robbie Keane? Anelka?

Agreed faith. It isn't really our thing and when we do sign known superstars it doesn't tend to go well. Thiago? Morientes?
It can be slagged off but the use of stats to sign potential has in the long run brought us sustained ability to compete at the highest level and occasional success on a lower budget than other massive clubs. The club's issue is then not being ruthless with selling and replacing players at the optimum time.

Does John Aldridge count? Djibril cissé was top scorer in ligue 1 before coming to us I think.

Further to my above, I have no idea if Pedro would be good enough, but he has shown a level of ability and has the raw physical attributes, (whilst being young enough to improve further) to suggest he could do well at a top club. Wouldn't be my pick, but definitely sounds like an LFC signing to me.

Surely cunha at a much lower price than Brighton are asking is a much better deal, I think he's twice as good as João Pedro too.

No thanks cunha, ekitike, isak, vahovic, sesko are much better options.

I really liked the look of Joao Pedro when he was at Watford, for me he stood out as being well above what was admittedly a pretty woeful Watford team.

He has all the physical attributes to succeed at the top and seems to have a calm head under pressure, which we need more of, but I don't think he contributes enough around the pitch to be a great signing for us. He could be trained to do that though.

He would be a good replacement for Jota in my view, if he were to leave, but the fee Brighton are likely going to want for him makes this seem unlikely, and I would rather go for someone like Cunha instead who already offers more around the pitch than Pedro and would likely be cheaper.

Pedro is injury prone and is not a goalscorer which is what we are missing in the team. Won’t happen I doubt we would be daft enough to sign him. Also don’t see the Baleba hype either looks bang average a player who might do the simple things well I suppose but nothing special. Remember I am a scout an all. Cunha is the one and well I’m stumped for any DM’s tbh. Baleba best of a bad bunch with Wharton maybe. I like Rogers for Liverpool he can go up a level or two at our club. Sell Jones and Elliot get Rogers as an upgrade on those two.

Joao Pedro, to me, looks like a great player. Really, it all depends on the price, what Slot is looking for in his first-choice striker, and Salah and his potential replacement. If Slot is looking for a player that will drop deep and help organise play, a Firminoesque figure, then Pedro makes sense. Large number of goals would have to come from someone else. Like Salah and Mane were always more goal-wise prolific than Firmino.

Would love us to see if we could get Julian Alvarez if Atletico do have real interest in Nunez. Swap deals aren’t really a thing obviously but could pretty much make the money back. Feel he’s a much better option to Cunha or Pedro if the club want a more Firmino like striker again.

I know I haven’t seen someone suggest Vlahovic. Dear me

Watch him for a couple of games and you’ll think Darwin has a better touch than Dennis Bergkamp. Horrible, horrible footballer.

Scamacca is better than Vlahovic.

Alvarez would be a special signing but there is no chance at all. Would love that though.

Is Nicol a blind man pretending to watch football or is he just bashing any black player? am very sorry for asking this question eds, but this guy has bashed Baleba, Curtis Jones and Konate today calling all of them bang average or worse. There is no way on this planet he has EVER worked in professional football.

Cunha for me any day of the week over Pedro.

Cunha would be a Firmino-like signing.

Pedro has a better striker rate than both Jota and Nunez since he joined Brighto. Based on those stats, he looks like a data related upgrade 28 goals in 65 games, Nunez is 25 in 94 and Jota 23 in 61.
