Wolves and Forrest supposed to be interested in Harvey Elliott, what do ya know Ed001? I hope he gets a decent move, nice kid I met him once at Fulham away, and he loves the club but gets next to no playing time, he is young and needs to go and ply his trade.
{Ed001's Note - there is a fair bit of interest, he wants to stay but has spoken with Slot and realised that he has to leave for the sake of his career. I would not be surprised if he made a return to Fulham.}

Love the kid but it’s football and slot seems pretty ruthless his comments on Trent show that.

He’s do well at Fulham, Ed001. They’ve failed miserably to recruit a decent AM. Pereira is too inconsistent and Smith-Rowe is too injury prone. Elliott would really enhance their side.

Got to say I’ll be really gutted to see Harvey Elliott leave us, we need more with that attitude at the club, not less.
That gutted feeling will last 30 seconds though if Wirtz is his replacement.

I predicted that Elliott was going to have a breakout season this year after seeing how slot used him in preseason, I went to get a home kit with his name on it, too. Then he went and got injured, slot played Dom in that position and Dom showed us a new way of interpreting the 10 position as a sort of 8 and a half, and Elliott could never fill those shoes even when fit. He is a great impact player and people slate him for his lack of physicality, pace and size, but his footballing brain is always very quick, he makes the right decision and the right play in the opposition half almost all of the time.
In that respect and as far as incisiveness and penetration goes I think he is much better than Dom in the 10 position, Dom is better further from goal where he can use his passing range and industry better rather than on the right laying it short for mo. Elliott always sees the right pass into the box or the wings, he can float them in or get it through the channels with the best of them, and his long range shooting is as good as anybody in our team.
Honestly I feel sad that we are letting him go, I think people on here don't realise enough how good he actually is.

It was always the case that Harvey's speed over distance would be his rate limiter at the very top of the game.
It's increasingly difficult for top sides to be able to cover players who might have some physical limitations as the level of athleticism and coaching/ tactics are extremely high today.
He can still have a good Premier League career and even be an England regular playing for a mid-table team that will build around him.
Good luck to the lad. He's always going to be remembered for being one of us and has a pretty impressive haul of medals - 2x PLs, 2x league cups, 1x FA Cup, 1x Super Cup and 1x World Club Cup.

I really feel for Harv, his passion for the club is second to none and he's a good player. 10 years ago he would've been a starter, but we've kicked onto much bigger heights. He's been a wonderful servant for this club and I'm wrapped that he will leave us a league winner, a dream come true for him.

PB, I think most people appreciate Elliott is good but I think most of us also accept that if Slot doesn't think he fits in, we're better off moving him on so we can sign someone Slot will use.
This season we've essentially rotated Jones, Szoboszali, Gravenberch and Mac Allister for 4 positions in every PL and CL game with something riding on it. Elliot and Endo didn't start a single meaningful game; they only got dead rubbers. Endo at least came off the bench quite frequently but Elliott didn't even really manage that.
Going into next season we need another midfielder to increase Slot's ability to rotate and as you said, Dom is better further from goal. Klopp, Slot and even Dom himself think he's more of an 8. Rossi his international manager is on record saying his attributes make him most suited to playing as a 6 in a 'Pirlo role'. So logically it makes sense to sign a more natural number 10 like Wirtz, Simons, Cherki etc. Then we have 5 players Slot is happy to start, with Endo plugging gaps at CM, DM, RB and CB.
Elliott hassled Slot for a chance to play as a 10 (according to Slot himself) and although when he's played he has picked up goals and assists, he just is lacking something in his all around play at the level we're at. Stick him in a team lower down the league where they're desperate for goals/ assists from anywhere, and they'll love him. Bit like how Kluivert or Eze get a lot of plaudits despite being very poor out of possession. It's higher pressure at the very top, and people will tear apart your performances and highlight what you can't do more than what you can do.
I really hope Elliott goes off and shows his best though.

I said a few weeks back I thought Elliot was our best penetrater. If he's not playing there's been too many penatration opportunities going to waste.
I hope Elliot gets to stay as when fully fit he can add lots to the team.

I’d rather sell jones than Elliot if I’m honest, higher ceiling for me.

Elliot gets a lot of stick off the Fulham fans, I wonder whether they’d welcome him back.
With Pereira reportedly leaving then he would hbe a good replacement.

Pat, Elliot got injured before our 4th game and Szob had already started the first 3.

Do Slot rate Jones Ed? I honestly preferred if we look to sell Jones over Elliot. I think Elliot doesn't get that many chances to show what he is capable while Jones got plenty of chances. And he doesn't really look impressive.

Love Elliott and I also prefer him over Jones if one had to go. Elliott seems way smarter in terms of vision and decision making during games.
With that being said, I don't think he'll get the game time a player of his ability deserves so he should go.
Forrest would be perfect for him if Gibs-White ends up at City.

If he goes it will be the best time to go as a premier league champion.

unfortunately there are certain traits that Elliott will never be able to learn that Slot looks for in his midfield - I love the player and think he is great but ultimately he does need to think about his career in the long run.
I hope we don't price him out of his desired move, he deserves to get to go where he wants.

{Ed001's Note - he gets chances because Slot rates him. Unlike Elliott he can play multiple positions.}

If we got 40m for Elliot that we can use for Wirtz or someone like Isak or Alvarez then I'd be very very very happy with that bit of business by Hughes. Slot doesn't use Elliot so stupid to keep him when his fee would pay towards someone the manager would use.

23 May 2025 15:14:43
Edd001 would you want a clause that allows us first dabs at ever buying him back? I don't know. With elliot he has it to be top class but he needs the right position and team to do it. Unfortunately it's not with us at the time but he has it in him I believe.
{Ed001's Note - yes.}

He can’t do the leg work Dom does as an advanced 8.
We won’t play with a 10.
He can’t cover Salah as a RW because he doesn’t have the pace.
He’s a cracking player, he’s a lovely lad (my nephew has met him a bunch of times and he has time for everyone) and he loves the club so I’d be gutted to see him go…. but he is lacking that five percent extra you need at the highest level.
You can get away with being utterly one footed if you have blistering pace or extravagantly high skill levels.
He is the ideal player to play off a big man like Jimenez or Muniz.
I hope I am 100% wrong and he can make it next season at Liverpool, I suspect I’m not.
