So Ed's and Fellow Reds if you could take our position now or Man City's position who would you choose? Obviously they have won the Carling Cup and are strong favourites to beat Watford in the FA cup but now out the champions league and have a tricky game Wednesday, as hopefully Utd will have to show more than the past few weeks. It's a real tricky one as obviously I would love some silverware but we are so close to another champions league final and if City do slip up could win an amazing double, so I'm very happy to be in the position we are.

is the questions would we rather be in our position or City's? at the current, I'd go for City. League in their hands, trophy in the cabinet already another final to play in. works for me!

Stop thinking that Man utd is going to help us against Man city.
Infact Man utd will love see us missing title again.

I think United would love to beat city, they need the points, but in their current form it looks massively unlikely. I think Leicester have more chance of causing an upset, I hope so anyway.

Mcheshi, no one is asking Utd to help us do a damn thing. That is a non argument. Each team has their ambitions for the season AND they owe it to the game of football, to give their best and go out and play the game honestly. If it was that easy then why did we not tank the game vs Blackburn (we actually beat them) in the last game of the 94/ 95 season when they were going for the league? Cos we owe it to our fans to go out there and try to win EVERY game, NO EXCEPTIONS. Pretty sure Sir Kenny was not looking to us to go esy on them so again, your argument is a non argument cos professional footballers or managers don't think that small.

If Utd want to tank the game (like Everton allegedly did in 13/ 14 season) then, that is up to them. The problem with this pathetic thinking you put out, is that Utd is an institution (like LFC) in world football. Tanking games will NOT be tolerated and based on the shalacking they got from Everton, they have NO choice but to go out vs City and give their all not just for top chances BUT most importantly, they owe it to their fans and the shirt. If they lose to City then so be it.

After the public outcry and backlash over their performance against Everton, the ManU players will be far more concerned about saving their hides and maintaining their fat paychecks with a decent display (at least) against ManC. Liverpool winning the title may be a concern to them, but far lower on their list than before.

If they do man up and show up to play on Wednesday, their drubbing by Everton could possibly be the best thing that could have happened to LFC.

Is it a compete swap? Like will we get away with cheating ffp and corrupt sponsorship deals?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool remain absolutely bottom of the pile regarding "cheating". You perhaps don't want to go there.}

Good question that. I would rather be in City’s position due to them having the league title outcome in their hands. However if we were in their position including their fixtures then it would be guaranteed that Utd would be raising their game against us and will probably go out with a whimper against City. So I’ll gonfor stick rather than twist for that reason alone.

I’m with RK points in the bag for me and Liverpool’s position . Man City’s main priority was the European cup their out of that they have failed the their main objective . Whereas we still have the possibility to achieve ours . Up the red men.

I would much rather be in City’s position, i have sad for a few weeks now that I think we will both win out and City will pip us with us getting the 3rd highest points total in the premier league and falling short.

Would rather be in City's position. I hate having to rely on other teams to beat our rivals, especially when the other teams are likely going to get steam rolled.
Man Utd are going to get hammered at Old Trafford let's be honest about that. Burnley away is the fixture City could drop points at, but otherwise it now looks like plain sailing for them.
Plus we need to beat Barcelona in the UCL. City are at least guaranteed a trophy or two this season.

I remember last season, a poor ManU 2-0 down at HT to runaway champions elect Man City.
They didn’t want City winning the title in that game, although it was inevitable, Pogba got 2 and ManU won 2-3.

Whilst I don’t expect that to happen again, ManU will not want to lose this game without putting in a performance.

I think us winning the league is more of an issue for the utd fans than it is the players and club. If they beat city it's going to be bitter sweet for them. They need the points for top 4 especially after arsenal losing yesterday and they need a performance after that dreadful display against Everton. No professional club should under perform based on what could happen to their rivals. Fact is Utd need points and a performance, that gives me hope. However City are on a role and it wouldn't surprise me if they went to Old Trafford and won. We need to focus on us, we still have 3 games left which aren't guaranteed wins. If we finish on 97 points and it's not good enough then so be it. It's been a great season of development and I'm sure this team will continue to get better and better.

Manchester Utd don’t have a say in our title, they need champs league football. the club is on a downward spiral regardless of us winning the league or not they need the points badly!

Man Utd have no interest in helping out Liverpool. However they are in a 4 way battle for 2 places in the champions league. I would expect the minimum requirement from the boardroom to the players was to qualify for the champions league this season.
They will definitely be trying to win against Man City as their top 4 ambitions are more important than trying to derail Liverpools' title bid.
That said they were utter garbage against Everton, but who knows whether that hammering may inspire Man Utd to put in a committed performance on Wednesday.
