I can definitely see where ed001 is coming from regarding Pep. If he acts that way during matches he's probably worse in training. That would wear thin I'd imagine.

We are the better team. I didn't think so in the first half but they couldn't keep up with our intensity. I think city are the faves to won a pen shootout. I knew gini would miss, bless him he had a decent game.

The big difference between the teams is the fans. Ours p##s on city's tbf. Well proud of the team. Last season was no fluke. We ARE the better team.

And am i jealous of pep? Why would i be when we have klopp? I think we will win the league this season. If we play like we did in the 2nd half we are the best team in the world.

It really wound me up when Glenn Hoddle says "that was a awful penalty" about Gini's penalty, but then Phil Foden takes pretty much the exact same penalty but to the other side and Alisson guessed the wrong way, "that was a fantastic penalty".

We are Champions of Europe. Europe is a continent. Not a country. Many words come to mind. Jealousy is certainly not one of them. Overall, we were the better team, even though it was a game of two halves. Penalties always have been and always will be a throw of the dice.

Neither team played like a pre season game. Both at 100% imo. Not a lot in it. May have been different outcome if bobby, mane and origi had taken pens. No, it was no pre season game. Really good game of the highest quality.

No, calling them wolves is not an insult, of course. Wolves are a fantastic little team. But a little team they remain. For now. We out played them in the 2nd half. Massively. Most teams would not have managed a shot on target.

Why are we so bitter. We said The other day this game doesn’t count as it’s a friendly and friendlies are for fitness not result and performance. City are a fantastic team and Pep is a fantastic manager. But we also have a fantastic team and manager. Why do we care about anyone else. It’s all sour grapes. We should be just as gracious in defeat as we are in victory. For me it was a cracking second half and puts us on the front foot for the important one in 5 days time.

Great match to watch and it was very even overall. man City’s midfield looked far more dangerous than ours, but out intensity in the second half was fantastic and we looked most likely to win until it went to penalties.

Takeaways for me were
- Our fullbacks need to be careful, Trent almost let in City’s attack on a number of occasions and we looked a bit rusty defensively first half, improved significantly in the second half
- Gomez is the best partner to VVD for me, his pace and covering was exceptional at times
- I really thought our midfield looked toothless first half, bringing Keita on made a big difference, as he immediately injected some urgency and his willingness to carry the ball at their defence caused them real problems
- Origi looked OK but still think he’s not a completely natural wide player, neither does Ox look completely comfortable at LW. we missed Mane who could well have made the difference
- Salah looked dangerous as always, just needs to get a bit sharper with his finishing

Good game to dust of any remaining cobwebs, looking forward to the season.

The best team? Salah himself, would have had a quadruple all on his own. I'm happy with the intensity, drive and determination we played with for the whole 95 mins. Our fitness levels are off the charts and blew them away physically which is why we were able to dominate them in the second half throughout.

For full disclosure, I know this is a preseason game BUT Pep did not take it as such and neither did our boys nor Klopp so I'm happy with the way we matched them up and bossed them overall. Let the games begin.

In the second half we blew city away. We didn't lose in 90 minutes. We were better in the second half than they were in the first. That isn't redtinted glasses. Do you know what happens to near on every team who face city? They get hammered. We were more than their equal. If we are not the best team in the world right now? Who are? City? If youd asked me at half time i would have said city. But they're not. We are. Yes they won on penalties, but in the league that's a point. If we play with the intensity we did in the 2nd half, i can't see any team in the league beating us. Except maybe city. They are absolutely brilliant.

And so are we. Its okay top dog (im getting nose bleeds too)

First half we were poor, second half we were the better team. Positives to take from the game, I would say Firmino who looked sharp and Salah, although he didn’t take his chances. Defensively we looked solid when Matip came in and we dropped the high line. It’s only the Community shield so not the end of the world, on a side note I just knew by looking at Gini’s face and body language he would miss lol.

Ed having luck didn't make a difference over the 38 games or are we going on about Evertons cup finals.
We got beat Once last season by a team that out scored us but didn't out play us on the night and if you say that Kompany wasn't lucky to not see red for the challenge on Salah then you are a bitter.
Man City won the league because they where the best team over the 38 games but we didn't get close because we were lucky.
Luck over the season evens itself out.
Good luck for the season Ed but I don't think you will find a lucky win in the Derby gets you 2nd in the league.

If you play with the type of intensity we did today i guess you need someone special to get and keep you as fit as posible. didn't look like the boys had had a long summer. That was a shock seeing em chase down (on the rare occasions we didn't have the ball that 2nd half) i think it shocked city too.

We lost no matter how many chances created, but the game means nothing so no worries. Some people are oversensitive and as for Peps yellow card, there will be plenty of managers receiving them this season, so it tells us nothing.
