Liverpools late late show against Villa last weekend makes Sundays game very, very interesting, or should I say more interesting in some respects than if Liverpool had not have won . I posted on here with twenty minuets to go during the Villa game that it was worrying as City had turned the game against Southampton and the gap would have been just three points going in to Sunday.

I believe that last gasp winner has put a few thoughts in to Peps head he may not have had had the gap been just 3 points and not 6. If it's just 3 points I think City go all out, go for the win and go top before the international break. If they get a draw or get caught out then the gap is at worse 6 points if not three or zero. But with a 6 point lead they will not want to be as gung hoe as if it's a draw its 6 points if they loose its 9. That is huge. We have never had a lead that big over them this early on and Pep knows it . City will attack that's for sure but how much are they willing to gamble during the game now that gap remains at 6.

That win last weekend and maintaing that 6 point lead was vital as now what ever happens we will be top come the international break, City will want it to be 3 points, will settle for 6 but I don't think they can afford it to be 9. We will win Sunday and that gap will start looking like a bit of a chasm, especially as City know they will not be able to loose again before we visit thier place in April. I can't wait as I think we will see something special on Sunday, that win last weekend could be bigger and have more of an effect on Sundays game than people perhaps realise.

If there was a game to start a run of clean sheets then this would be it. We are conceding in every game not from worldies but from simple mistakes. This has to stop against city if we want anything out of the game.
I am praying we put in one of those “blow a team away” performances and show them that we are here to stay at the top of the pile 🙏🏼.

City will be going all out for a win regardless of last weekend. Why wouldn't they?

the 0-0 at Anfield last year shows why. City will not want to fall 9 points behind but at the same time will be eager to cut it to 3. Pep has to find a balance. I think we will look to take them on the counter but Pep needs to be wary not to commit too many bodies forward. Very excited for this weekends fixture.

Jurgen has a habit of beating Pep teams, why else do you think he was thinking/ talking about Liverpool straight after the Saints game. He is and will be really worried with the caliber of defenders he has at the moment and possibly not having his first choice keeper.

Go for it!

OP, you make valid points, of course. For me, City can go in there saying, "We try to win BUT we best not lose". Klopp may be thinking the same thing as well, who knows? I say this cos draw is a good result for us either way and does not work for City cos based on the late show at Villa, they may not see where we drop points anywhere on the horizon esp. if they continue to leak goals during their horrid schedule coming up. IMO in big games like this esp. since we have a healthy lead, do all you can to win BUT if you can't win the game, DON'T LOSE IT. This early in the season, that will a psychological blow to our boys and a shot an on the arm for City.
