Hi Ed,

Is it possible to get a player profile for Steve Macmanaman?

Never saw him play but its said he and fowler carried liverpool through the 90s. Would love to get your view and perspective on him.

{Ed001's Note - I have added him to the list.}

He was brilliant mcmanaman really exciting scored great goals, but was bit of a flat track bully didn't do it in the big games an if he was a lolly ice there would be none of himself left.

What are you talking about. didn't do it in the big games? He single handed best bolton wanderers in the league cup final. He was excellent. Real madrid didn't come come knocking for nothing. And I'm sure he scored in champions league final for madrid.
Talking nonsense hailstones.

Did he not score in 2 CL finals or am I just making it up?

I used to stand in the Kop and watch him. Brilliant skills but too often either cut back and slowed attacks down or tried to take on too many players or even the same player twice and lost it. Brilliant and frustrating in equal measures.

He scored in the 2000 final and in the semi final of the 2002 campaign . He was great player but Hailstones is not wrong, Macca did go missing in some of the big games . with a bit more consistency he could've been one of the greats . He was as good technically as Ryan Giggs if not better, the difference was, Giggs produced in every game.

I am talking about for liverpool I watched him every week I loved him, yes he scored in final vs Bolton but we should of won that game and we should of expected him too score or win the game, he never scored against united home or away or everton neither did he put in match winning performances against the big teams too contribute too winning leagues as in big games, compare him too another left winger at that time ryan Giggs an there's only one winner he was a match winner in big games for his club . Mcmanaman was class and great too watch but in the end dropped us like a sack of rubbish for nothing .

Kind of pointless to argue that a goal or 2 in cup finals suggest a player can't be faulted for often disappointing in many other big moments. I liked his ability as a winger but he never reached that level where he could turn huge games enough with his quality like a number of former Liverpool players have done more regularly.

I don't think I've seen anyone who could dance past someone like mcmanaman. There was Barnes of course, who could dance past players. But Steve just flew past them. If klopp had that team we'd have been dominant.

{Ed025's Note - very talented player robbie but never done it in an england shirt, then proved what an absolute shitbag he really was by running his contract down so that liverpool got nothing for him and he got the big signing on fee at madrid..

Players run their contracts down ed025. They're not all rubbish bags mate. Maybe it was the only way Madrid would take him. I don't begrudge a player of his skill moving to a better team. We were at z low in those days. I was gutted at the time, but after so many years, fair play to him. There is life after Liverpool, and we can't hate every player who ever left us. If I did zn arya stark prayer I'd have to get out of bed before I've even fallen asleep

And he scored European Cup winning goals - so yeah, not a big game player at all lol. And I thought him and Anderton where pretty good in euro 96. In those days many players were guilty of not performing for England. Barnes always got that said of him (I thought he was decent tbf) I think there were too many cliques in those days.

{Ed025's Note - im a bit of an idealist i suppose robbie, i think liverpool treated him well and the fans loved him so to run your contract down and for the reds to get nothing for him seems a bit disloyal to me mate..
