Do you think we have an issue playing agaist 442 when the whole opposition plays deep? . both our defeats this season have come from teams playing that style. Or is it just us playing badly and tbh its also poor officiating.

{Ed001's Note - they played well and we didn't, formation is not really relevant.}

I know people keep talking about how they played defensive this sat back etc, but I was very impressed with their energy!

Every player worked hard, closed down, stopped any counter, it was what they planned to do and achieved it!

We move on bring it to Anfield and scare the sh*t out of them.

Gotta give credit where credit is due. Athletico are a top class side and on their day can match or beat anyone. A few times this season we have not hit top gear and got away with it. This time we didn’t. It happens, the players are only human. We have no god given right to smash everyone like we seem to believe. 2nd leg is all about outscoring them by 2. Performance makes no difference it’s all about that goal deficit. Can’t wait for the game personally.

I think we lost to an unlucky goal. and our players seemed nervous at times to make killer passes and runs. In all honesty, hadn't they got the goal the tie had 0-0 written all over it. I'm hoping the Anfield crowd will inspire our lads again in the return fixture for a 3-0 or 3-1 result.

I think it'll be either we go out, or we beat them by a lot. If we get two goals, they'll have to come out and play and I think we'll destroy them.

We'll do a number on them. Great team, I agree and I was actually concerned about playing them away but only a 1-0 nah, bring them on. Again a good team and what not but we have a better team and at Anfield they will be knocked out.

Spot on, Ed. AM played well based on what they set out to do and frankly, if you did not know what AM were going to do in the game based on their history and tactics then, you were prolly the few who were surprised.

We all knew what to expect from them but the early, scrappy goal was the ideal scenario for them cos it only made them more aggressive as they had something to hold on to.

We on the other hand, looked nervous and allowed them and their antics to get into our heads which led us to play poorly. They played well. We didn't. Nothing more, nothing less. We now move on, regroup, prepare well and give them hell in the second leg.

It’ll be just as tough when they come to Anfield. They will also be right up for it, early goal is key imo .
