Hello Ed's I hear that if city get done for breaking rules they will try and put the spotlight on us by saying we hacked into there computer systems for transfer and scout info, is there anything in this? And is it a concern at all?

{Ed002's Note - Manchester City already did Liverpool a favour very recently by not pressing The FA to continue their investigation in to the hacking - but this was after Liverpool paid a very significant amount from their "slush" fund that they use to pay clubs, and in one case, an individual off with. The constant buying off of indescretions remains a concern to The FA but the matter is closed from their standpoint. Additionally, whilst the matter is a number of yours old, it is completely unrelated to the issues Manchester City have to deal with at the moment. So I would not concern yourself with it.}

Thank you for your expert info ed, and also your stinging analysis of the way we seem too conduct our dealings which is slightly concerning .

{Ed002's Note - It is the way it is.}

The goings on in football are disgusting and criminal.
Nobody on this site would like there personal computer files being hacked for whatever reason.
Liverpool are a joy on the pitch, off it they still have plenty of room for improvement.
Please don't get all tribal with your responses I support Liverpool as much as you do.
This situation is wrong on every level, we were all brought up to know when something is right or wrong and this is very wrong both morally and ethically.
I only hope this incident will never be repeated.

Was it really hacking? - I thought the ex Man City employees used their old user credentials and they still worked, hardly hacking the door was bloody open!

{Ed001's Note - Definition: Hacking is an attempt to exploit a computer system or a private network inside a computer. Simply put, it is the unauthorised access to or control over computer network security systems for some illicit purpose.

So yes it is hacking. It was theft of someone else's information, whether they had to smash through firewalls or simply enter in their log in details. Impossible to defend and you are just embarrassing yourself by trying to minimalise it. It was gross misconduct and should have seen them immediately dismissed.}

Ed001 - When City seem happy to give LFC a slap on the wrist and LFC accepted the fine then that should be the end of it, I am not trying to defend it or minimalise it, it just shows that City have very poor controls and this should have never been allowed to happen in the first place. I am sure the data science we have built up is in a very safe place.

{Ed001's Note - you are defending and minimalising it. It is not what LFC stands for. It only shows how lacking in morals you and the sport is. You are clearly the kind of moron LFC doesn't need. The kind that thinks it is ok when it is us but would whine non-stop for years if it had been anyone else. People like you are why the world is such a mess. Just remember when you get your stuff stolen, you are in no position to complain as it is ok. I mean obviously unless you live in a bank vault with 24hr security and never give a key to anyone else of course. Otherwise it is obviously your fault.}

KingCarlos mate luckily we don't yet live in a Darwinian universe where in order to protect yourself against abuse you are by yourself and have to erect iron walls around you as a shield. Luckily we have a system of ethics and laws governing our collective behaviours which protects us against abuse.

Anti abuse and intellectual property laws prohibit companies from unapproved access and use of other companies' data. And nearly all people sign agreements when taking employments, under which accessing any proprietary information of an ex-employer is a serious and potentially criminal breach of the codes of conduct.

You're right that City's controls are lacking hence the breach but having poor data controls is not a criminal or ethics offense, but accessing their data is!

This is similar to me having a spare key to a house I left many months ago. Should I breeze in one day to steal from the new tenants because it's really their responsibility to change the locks?

{Ed001's Note - spot on hhanif, glad someone understands.}

Hacking is a crime, punishable by jail time and/ or fines, end of story.

I'm with ed02 In this guy's. that was a very bad thing to do. doesn't put us in good light that one.

{Ed002's Note - I would stress this issue is several years old and dates to 2012-2914 ish timescales.}

We're going to do it until 2914? that's worrying to hear! I was hoping we'd cut stuff like this out within 500 years.

Who's coming with me to King Carlos house? Apparently anything that isn't really well bolted down is free.

This all feels like the kid who got caught doing something wrong in school and then snitching on everyone else. The story I read hinted that city where about to starting giving info on everyone one.

With us and the hatching incident, this has been dealt with unless further information becomes available. The only way new information could become available is if city where to give new information to the FA. If they did then questions where of how they come about it would have to be asked. Its very likely that they just withheld that info so they where not fully truthful in the initial investigation. This could also get them into trouble too.

Last thing I'm surprised about is the ex city employees didn't have non disclosure agreements in there old contract and that they weren't in more trouble. In the industry I work in, if an employee hands in there notice and are going to a rival then any company property including contacts and passwords are reposed/ changed and they are put on garden leave so that they can't take any valuable information.
