could you say how reliable/ accurate is transfermarkt. co. uk? are the players values accurate around the mark?

I know players can get bought/ sold for a more or less then they are worth, just wondering if its a good indication of current value.

I've only just started looking at it to find out more about players LFC have or are assumed to have shown interest in.

{Ed002's Note - They add their best guess for the values. No more than that.}

I think the CIES Observatory is like, the standard.

{Ed001's Note - still little more than guesswork. }

They should list down the player prices in the amount of toilet roll and hand sanitizer bottles you can get in exchange. It would mean something more.

Obviously impossible to be perfect as every value is variable but I think they offer a pretty accurate opinion based on form, age etc. One thing I don't think they use is contract status though, i remember seeing Christian erikson valued at 90mil or something before he moved to inter despite his contract running out.

{Ed001's Note - it is nowhere near accurate, contract status is one of the biggest deciders in value. It is just like saying FIFA ratings are accurate, they simply aren't.}

Yeah I agree that not using contract does take away from the players real worth. But asides from that and if you were to take each player on a hypothetical identical contract length then the values imo aren't terribly false. Of course everyone has different perspective and I do think many players are rated too high and many too low but I'm not sure any other databases would deliver much more accuracy, obviously contract statuses aside.
