I have just read the the UEFA Chief has stated that if the season was called off Liverpool will NOT be awarded the title.

So it seems the wait will go on.

{Ed002's Note - That is not what he said.}

I don't know what he said ED, that's why my post states 'I have just read'. I quote "Liverpool will not be Premier League champions if coronavirus leads to the season being declared null and void, insists UEFA bass Aleksander Ceferin". Source is Mail 0nline today.

Anyway, let's wait and see. As far as I'm concerned health comes before everything else no matter how long this things takes.

This is the quotes from him taken from the express

I’ve saw and heard some again fake news that Uefa will advise leagues to finish the championships now and decide that the winners are the ones who are number one now.

“I can say that it’s not true. Our goal is to finish the leagues and we didn’t recommend anything like that to any association or any league.

The papers have made it sound like he has said 'liverpool won't be given the league' so people will click on it.

Spot on, Ed and WYred. The media only took parts of his full quotes, created a fake news story to get clicks and spread rubbish. Just saw a manc fan on Youtube bigging up this piece of fake news as well. Some of these mancs are pathetic, really.

Ceferin is in charge of UEFA. He could not be arsed about what Liverpool or its fans want or where the PL title goes. The guy has no jurisdiction ove the PL as an entity, if I'm not mistaken. They postponed the Euros so the leagues and UEFA club comps. can be finished. That is the Real news, here. Anything else, is just horse manure, as they say in the States.

Frankly, some of these rival fans have been showing their true colors lately. They are obsessed with LFC and are hoping this contagion stop us from winning the PL, as if that is what is important right now.

I was worried, but after hearing all the arguments I really think it'll be continued. Especially with euros being cancelled. They can't Rob us of the title.

It’s what they do and they are doing the same with this virus, anything to get clicks and sell papers.
News should be purely informative but unfortunately that’s a pipe dream
As for rival fans, some of ours have apparently been the same saying all that matters is the title.
Don’t get me wrong I want us to win it, I’ve waited all my life for it, but I wouldn’t trade it for any lives. People’s health has to come first and what will be will be.
The leagues all want to get it over the line, but we are dealing with an unknown right now.

I fully agree with you here, WYred. We just have to hope and pray that things get moving slowly but surely cos the way news keeps coming out about the virus and how it is moving, we could be here for a long while, man.

It's not the seriousness of the illness that is the problem, more than 104 people have died from cancer in the last few weeks. It's the fact that the authorities haven't legislated for the impact this has made. Once we get ahead of it, rather than playing catch up, I think things will start to settle down.
And worst case scenario (for reds fans) that it's null and void. Every single person will still believe and say that Liverpool won the 19/ 20 season. Okay we won't have a trophy but we will have the memories of an unbelievable season. Bobby scoring in the wcc final. Beating utd, smashing City. List goes on. Henderson rise to wc centre mid. And at least we didn't spend a fortune in the summer. That's now looks extremely shrewd (or rather lucky)

Robbie, the season will not be void or cancelled, IMO and here is why. There are rules in place made by the PL themselves, stating that a season is a period where the first and last fixture is played, as scheduled. Also, each team HAS to play each other twice for a season to be complete.

If the season is voided (even if they did what they could to complete it), the PL would be in breach of that same rule they made and lawsuits could be flying.

I already read a report of the top 6 clubs in the Championship meeting to assess options if the season is voided and nobody gets relegated nor promoted. This is not about LFC alone, man. EVERYONE in the 4 pro leagues in England is involved.

IMO, this is among the reasons why as Ed02 has said repeatedly, the FA and PL's first and for now ONLY focus is the completion of the season. Even UEFA are on the same page with their organized comps. Again, just my opinion based on what I have read.

{Ed001's Note - if they voided the season, they would not be in breach of that rule. They would be in breach if they tried to award trophies based on the way the table is now though.}

We can drive ourselves crazy worrying and trying to second guess what's going to happen with the league.

The FA / Prem etc will not want to void the season, and decisions to recommence, further delay or cancel will be based on the advice and the situation as it develops explore every viable option to complete the competitions.

Breaches of contract? I believe Ed002 on that, and I reckon there'll be force majeure clause applicable to any decision to void the season, and Health and Safety Laws supercede any contract which may breach them.
