Anyone seen this report regarding Pierpaulo Marino, saying the PL are about to issue a statement (similar to Belgium cancelling the league)?

I'm not sure of his exact quotes but the report is doing the rounds at the moment.

{Ed002's Note - There is a situation about practicality given where the UK sits with Coronavirus and (1) the level of testing being low, and (2) the low number of “beds” being available. I have not seen what he said but UEFA are aware of research which shows a significant disparity between European nations and when they may be fit and safe to return to playing. This is a big deal but the result of research which thinks that the UK is going to see many, may more deaths and may never be able to return. However, the PL have so far deferred a return rather than making a hard decision - which may well be in a few weeks time. There are significant variables involved and it remains a dynamic situation. The intent remains to finish the season, the reality is that the intent could be scrapped if circumstances dictate. I don’t know, but people in a better position than I will be trying and understand the advice and data.}

I’ve read into it EasyBall yes. Seems black and white to me it’s going to be season over With what he has said, league voided and our wait to win it go’s on. Somethings are bigger than football though.

Thanks for your detailed response Eds002.

Yes, as much as we would love Liverpool to be champions I'm sure we would all agree it wouldn't be right if players/ managers etc are fast-tracked back or 'forced' to return under any obligations, should risk be involved.

It looks like the virus will be a social and economic issue for some time. And people's health is paramount.

{Ed002's Note - Right. I understand why he said what he did now but plans are currently unchanged.}

Isn’t he the director of an Italian club with some involvement with Watford?

What ever is decided in the coming weeks/ months, Im not sure how they would be privy to such info.

{Ed002's Note - He is a director at Udinese which is owned by Giampaolo Pozzo who also owns Watford. But he is a very senior person in the Italian game and close to many of the discussions that are going on.}

I thought as much, I’d read somewhere the involvement with Watford in another life.

I’ve not seen the report have you Ed002? I would presume he’s spoken to a journo regarding this, hence the leak.

{Ed002's Note - No it is nothing like that.}

He obviously has been involved in discussions and has heard what is going to happen with the PL being voided, he wouldn’t make it up.

There are now reports a premier league spokesman has dismissed Marino's claims and said they are inaccurate.

Doesn't say who the spokesman is - but I'm guessing its not Rio Ferdinand.

{Ed002's Note - He has not been involved in any discussions with the PL and plans are as I have explained.}

Thanks for the clarification, Ed02. Italian footy officials are known for throwing hand grenades into the ether to generate controversies and reactions. If you follow Serie A, you will know what I'm saying. I knew those remarks looked strange esp. with all that the Ed02 has said about this issue. Well, the rival fans and trolls are running with it now so I guess the plan worked.
