Just been reading the EFL have wrote to teams in the Championship stating they want the league wrapped up in 56 days including playoffs with games played behind closed doors and expect a start late May.

Any substance to this Ed? Also Baring in mind the complications as you've explained about playing behind closed doors.

{Ed002's Note - They can write all of the letters that they wish, but the chances of beginning late May will, I would think, be somewhere between infinitesimally slim and zero.}

I’ve been told from reliable sources that the peak of the pandemic in the north west is not expected until the 1st week of May. This, I would think, makes the idea of football starting up again even in June extremely unlikely.

Lfc hopeful I’m with ya mate, I was trying to be optimistic I guess. Reality is we won’t restart the season full stop and the whole thing will be void I’m afraid.

Sounds like the Scottish are one vote away from calling there leagues as they are, then potentially restructuring the leagues.

Btw I don’t think the pl will be voided/ expunged I think we will just draw a line. But it’ll be interesting to see how they decide on the title/ relegation matters.

Maybe people should speak to boris because nobody else seems to know?

Too many people claiming to know something, never knew we had so many experts.

You’re all probably too young 😏.

{Ed025's Note - im certainly not bod, and i remember the spot the ball mate.. :)

WYred is they draw a line mate then that will be it and the European places will be as placed with no one relegated and no champions announced.

But not voided mate, and that is how id expect it to go. Fairest way for the majority of the teams, it will then be down to the PL if they put it to a vote to decide if we are awarded the title.

If they decide to void the league the whole season will effectively get scrubbed from records and will go down as a ‘forgotten season’.

Whatever you say specialK, I just work in the nhs in the north west, and so daily briefings I take to be genuine. But as you say, no point claiming to be in the know👍.

Thanks hopeful and all your colleagues efforts, can't imagine the situation you are all in to keep the majority of us safe!

Thanks WY, I appreciate that, don’t forget all those other groups out there working hard. I didn’t want to say it originally as I’m not after people slapping me on the back- I’m lucky to be getting paid and bizarrely have a degree of normality about life, I get up and go to work. The info is genuine, most people think this weekend is the peak, it’s not what the modelling shows and if you do the simple maths the people getting infected today will end up in trouble in 2-3 weeks time, so with thousands still getting it, it takes us into May. I must admit at 1st I was hoping for some normality by June, and while I think there will have to be some lifting of restrictions (can’t push a potential second peak into the autumn, it’ll have to happen in the summer if it’s going to), football in June seems sadly unlikely.

I wonder if the voting system currently being proposed in the SPFL would be considered by the Prem.
Suppose it would ensure the season was concluded with positions attained.
Surely better than voiding/ expunging 29/ 30 games.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the options for the Premier League are on multiple occasions - read the posts.}

I always read the posts, Ed :)

I just didn't think they would limit their options and not consider others. (Unless they have already decided against it) .

{Ed002's Note - It is not an option the Premier League have in front of them and not an option that would ever be deemed acceptable to them. There is a further discussion between the "elite" sides scheduled for Wednesday when the clubs will again be asked for their opinions about when and how the seasons will end. This is happening due to what is seen as insensitive efforts to bully clubs by UEFA/ It might giove a better idea to what the clubs want. But the EPL will not be taking the approach which is being attempted in Scotland.}
