A generic couple of questions for the readers if you don’t mind Ed’s? I’m contemplating a side hustle but interested to hear others opinions.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on sporting memorabilia? Waste of money or good investment?

Would anyone be tempted to enter competitions for certain items?

My personal taste at the minute are signed boots. I can’t stop looking at them!

{Ed001's Note - it has never really interested me to be honest, but it is potentially a good investment.}

Football shirts seem to be a good investment. A good condition football shirt from the 80's-early 90's is worth anywhere between £150-£500 depending on the team/ nation.

If anyone is interested in a boxing glove signed by Tyson and Holyfield, let me know 😁.

Cheers for the replies guys.

Longthing that is the situation I am in, I feel that most would love an item to take pride of place but our often priced out of the market. I know a signed liverpool shirt would look great, well it would until my missus takes it down!

Hopefully my idea has legs but I guess only time will tell.

And wonderful idea berg! I am hoping to do something similar once I have enough of a client base (hopefully! ) .

Good luck with this WY. Let us know when you get up and running. I've never been really interested in this kind of stuff but if I can help out, I will. I'm more than happy to support your idea.

I know a lad who collects football shirts and sells them for a profit. makes a killing from what i remember. he said he owed the extension on his house to football shirts. he does put a lot of graft in to get the rare ones. i remember a particularly expensive old Barcelona top made with wool or something like that. Ebay, charity shops and social media might be a good place to start.

Thanks Salah, the offer is greatly appreciated. Think my first steps will be on the social media platforms and go from there.

And cheers Ste, there is definitely money to be made in it the market, as you say it is just taking the time to find those pieces that will sell or that people will be interested in.
