Is there any truth or desire from Liverpool to go back and see if we can get Coutinho? I would prefer Havertz but looks like we are reluctant to spend big for some reason. Any updates on these would be much appreciated?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool don't have any money. Havertz is not signing for Liverpool.}

OP if we could not afford Timo Werner wh we wanted, how can we afford Havertz (who we don't need, IMO) and Coutinho (who for darn sure, we don't need)?

That’s the best response ed has ever given. Direct and honest. We’re Skint. Makes me think though, thank fudge we’ve been massively successful these last couple of seasons. Or we’d be flogging our stars left right and center just to keep afloat!

Lol coutinho is one of the last people I'd see sign for liverpool, you know, the team full of top quality players? He isn't one of them and never will be.

Is it a silly question to ask how on earth we are skint and can't afford these players - that's laughable - we need some creativity in midfield and Coutinho and Havertz can provide this or are we being naive that as we have won the league we don't need to strengthen.

{Ed002's Note - The finances have been explained over and over - I am not doing it again. Read the posts.}

I know it's not this simple but, would you rather have becker and vvd or coutinio? Even coutinio on top form, I'd pick the keeper and cb. I don't think our rise in fortunes is just because pc left, and I think he's a brilliant footballer (on form and full of confidence) but I wonder if we'd have over turned that 3 0 defecit to Barcelona with Phil in the team. I don't think so.

Love your post, Robbie. Cou leaving actually made us better as a team and collectively and Klopp actually alluded to that during an interview during lockdown. He said that when he arrived, he saw that Cou was the most talented player we had and that everything went thru him. Klopp saw that as a weakness that he was trying to fix even tho, he would have accommodated him in his vision for LFC.

He said that whenever we played, the boys would just pass the ball to Cou and stand still to see what happens. He used the Spurs Wembley Debacle 3 yrs ago, as an example where he said that whenever any of our boys had the ball, Spurs would drop deep. But as soon as Cou had it, they would press him and he would lose the ball and they would counter. That was unacceptable to him.

Klopp may have wanted Cou to stay for sure BUT he saw his departure as an opportunity to build a REAL team, a machine like he had at BVB. Obviously, the Cou money helped.

Like him or not. Coutinho is a top quality player, or he was for us anyway?

Red meister nail on the head with your explanation as to why a coutinho type doesn't fit. It's the reason I've always said I can't see klopp bringing a natural no.10 AM type player that everyone calls out for each transfer window. That kind of player has strenghts that benefit a team who are built to use him to stretch and open up opposition. Our style would always see us become more predictable and the more often narrow focal point of attacking crowds out our wingers and full backs being explosive.
