I am not sure how much more negativity i can take atm, yes VVD will be a massive miss that much is obvious, however to surrender the title so meekly after 5 games? not in my lifetime!
Does anybody expect me to believe that Jurgen Klopp spent all that time and effort in changing the player's mentality from being weak to becoming serial winners only for it all to fall apart so quickly?
Is Jordan Henderson as the club captain going around moping, no chance! we still have top players in our ranks, we have a embarrassment of riches in midfield and in Attack that is capable of winning football matches.
Yes we have problems in defence atm however looking at all the goals currently flying in so do all the other teams.
I wish VVD a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him play once again, in the meantime let's keep our heads, and more importantly our nerve.
It will never be proper football until the fans return but there is no way i am giving up on a entire season after 5 games no matter what the circumstances.

People are negative cos they have a right to be
It’s very clear without this guy Liverpool have a super standard defence - right now the Burnley manager is rubbing his hands together - “just win corners lads and we are home free”

Think of how many centre pairings are more reliable an better.

Whats the point of being negative? Just so you can say you right if it all goes pete tong?

we have never really seen the defence operate for a long period of time without VVD. They might make a fantastic pair? Joe may step up and lead the line? Truth is no one knows but I can't imagine Burnley or most teams are looking forward to play us and definitley not rubbing their hands toghether.

We tore everton apart at times with our football and are more than capable of winning games without VVD. Will it be harder? undoubtedly but this is still a top quality squad that will want to win just as much as before.

name them redrebel1 I would just like to see who you come up with? yes they have had some issues with injurys but how you can already right off a potential pairing of Matip and Gomez as unreliable we haven't even seen them play yet.

The problem is that our defence is basically untested without van Dijk. We actually don't know how well they'll play.

Lazy sports outlets have trotted out the stat that we only win 46% of games (or whatever) without him, but what that doesn't tell you is that basically the only games we've played without van Dijk since we got him are the domestic cup games. Where we usually rotate the entire team.

Should the results obtained by severely weakened sides, including two matches where we started a literal youth side, be considered representative of what results we'll get without van Dijk, but with full strength in attack, midfield, both first choice FBs and Alisson hopefully in a couple of weeks? I don't think so.

We have Ajax next. Good team and it's away from home, but at least they're not likely to take the agricultural route to attack which'll suit Gomez, and Fabinho if we have to use him in defence. Then we have Sheffield United and Midtjylland at home, which should be good matches for our van Dijkless defence to build up an understanding and confidence.

Spot on, WYred. You can be negative cos you are frustrated and that is fine. BUT to be negative and be all doom and gloom just so you can gloat and claim you were right, is not acceptable and flat out useless at this point. It does not help here. This is the time for togetherness and unity and strength in numbers; A siege mentality, if you like.

And if you are scared at teams licking their chops to play us like Burnley and the rest, that is your fear and lack of belief talking and nothing else, IMO. If you do not have the strength and belief in this team after all they have overcome and achieved then, you are the problem. Go have a word with yourself then, and leave the field of battle for the rest who actually have the stomach for it.

We nearly won the title with Skrtel and Sakho. Pretty sure Gomez and Fabinho will be chomping at the bit to showcase their ability to fill in the big gap left by Virgil.

@Redrebel1: if you want to be negative that's your choice, i stand by my post and if your prediction comes true feel free to tell me i told you so, i cannot support Lfc that way, for goodness sake we survived the Roy Hodgson era, this with the players we currently have is a doddle by comparison.
Before Burnley start rubbing there hands in glee they better get some points on the board as they are currently pointless.

@Red Meister: well said mate.

I guarantee you that Burnley are more worried asbout our attack and pressure. Yes they'll be hoping for set pieces but that's their game. I've seen gomez outshine vvd. I've seen matip head everything that came near our area. Matip can defend and Joe is quick. We have two best full backs about. We do not have a standard defence. We have a defence full of cl and pl winners.

Spot on, Robbie. If Burnley (who are pointless in the table literally) are licking their chops and open to take us on then, they are in for a complete battering if our forwards are on form.

Like I posted, if you are scared then get out of the way and let the rest of the fanbase with the backbone to stand up and fight for the cause. If we could survive Hodgson, Rodgers screwing up the title win, The Tragedy Of Kiev and losing the league by 1 point (after gaining 97 points) then, we have EVERY chance of surviving this huge storm.

I think Hendo is a bigger miss than even vvd. He's fit now and he was ill make sure the boys fight.
