As long as he's fit and been training well, I'd be tempted to go with Matip on Sunday. Seems a big ask of Williams or Philips to play in such a big game and you don't want to crush them after the high they must both be on. Matip's a time served pro - I'd put my trust in him.

Williams could very well be one for the future but does look a bit slow. That could be ruthlessly exposed on Sunday. Challenges well but the pace aspect has me concerned.

Philips looks like a good old blood n guts centre-half - again not particularly suited against City's fluid attack.

Also, if Thigao is fit he should be in contention. Seems like exactly the sort of game we got him for - to control the tempo and keep the ball. I'd go for him with Hendo and Gini - they both looked in fine form v Atalanta.

Up top the temptation to start Jota at centre forward is huge. He's bound to feature at some point anyway so leave that one to Klopp. Wouldn't it be typical of Bobby to play a blinder?

Agree with all of this post. I'm tempted to start firmino. Like you I think he will play a blinder. Just a feeling. But if jota starts I won't be disappointed.

Should be an interesting one, Fran Torres seems to be settling in well in CF role, great movement. Depending on how they recover and train I see klopp trusting the same team with Bobby coming back. Its a pity the game came so quick as under normal circumstances it would be a cracker.

{Ed0666's Note - Toress isn’t a natural finisher for me Opo.

Personally i think we'll see Matip and Bobby start on Sunday and maybe even Thiago if he is declared fit. Klopp is the gaffer and in him i trust. Obviously if that does happen i hope it doesn't have to much of a confidence knock on Jota, Williams / Phillips and some of the other midfielders as it might feel like a little bit of a kick in the teeth to them as its not as if they have done anything wrong not to get selected. Shaq is another one as well who is arguable playing his best football under us and didn't even get a look in midweek. Perhaps he might be the joker in the pack to start on Sunday. If he stays on the bench i suppose it'll be another knock him him also.

This is why Klopp gets paid the big bucks though. He has to keep this squad happy and the decisions are down to him.

I think so too, JK23. Klopp is earning his checks right now, as you said and long ay it continue. More to the point, remember as well that Matip was on the bench vs Atalanta hence if needed, could have come on if needed BUT maybe just not fully fit to start. Thiago (along with Matip and Keita) was also close to playing vs WH as well and we see that Matip was on the bench and Naby played so it is not far fetched at Matip and Thiago to start at City.

City regardless of their oscillating form, are the only team capable of really thrashing us and this is not the time to go with emotions and start young CB's who if they got done vs City, would kill their confidence. If fit, Matip should start.

As for Jota, I don't see him starting over Bobbie in such a big game esp. since Bobbie's record vs City is quite outstanding. Jota should come on and hopefully finish them off after the front three has run them into the ground. Just my opinion.

Jinggles What is Bobby's outstanding record against City mate? That's not me being funny. Genuine question and curiosity that.

Bobby has played some of his best footy in a red shirt against city jk23.

Ill never forget the little pass to lallana, who then missed an open goal while Bobby was celebrating!

The games when we've beat City Bobby has played very well.

Bonny starts for me. If Jota is starting then my hope is we are playing a 4-2-3-1 and adding him to the mission with the front 3 protected by hendo and gini.
